Zanadu, or Zygote 268 is a world set in the future in a world 26 light years away from Earth. An expedition of approximately sixty thousand colonists set out from Earth to colonize the planet known as Zygote 268. The book's setting tells of events nearly 270 years after the colony's establishment. By this time, the world, known as Zanadu, has a population of nearly 1.6 billions divided into 7 countries. Zanadu has evolved into a world where technology is non-existent, and wars are ritualized and fought with primitive weapons by a warrior class. In this setting, Prince Ming of Changping, aided by its ally Ruhar, launches war against The SEA Federation and its ally Zetan. The two chief protagonists in this are Prince Ming and William Lee, rival statesmen vying for hegemony as well rival lovers vying for the affection of Elaine Barksdale. The result is a destabilization of the relative peace Zanadu has enjoyed for over two hundred and fifty y.ears, and sets in motion a cataclysmic chain of events. This is complicated by the arrival of the Goatman, the leader of a GTS expedition from earth in search of the Z268 colonists nearly 270 years later. This is a tale of war, love, politics, pugilistic fights and adventure interwoven into a fictional world set in the future.
