I never believed in mates. Until I met her. My daughter’s nanny. My hands, demanding and possessive, want to pull her close. My dragon, raw and instinctive, wants to mark her as mine. But I’m her boss and I need to keep things professional. How am I supposed to resist her intoxicating scent when we live together?
The battle inside my head is brutal, but my body has already decided. She’s my mate. She can stop me from having my way with her. But she can’t stop me from protecting what’s mine.
I’ll utterly destroy any obstacle that stands between us. And I’ll show her what it means to love a dragon.

Story line is great and I loved the characters. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it! Unexpected twists and turns had me reading this book in one sitting. Great storyline and character development made this book a hot and enjoyable read!
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
If you’re after a quick bite of PNR, then this might be for you. Full of dragons and wolf shifters, plus a single dad looking for a nanny. It was fast paced and enjoyable.
Sweet story of a wolf shifting girl who moves across country to become a nanny to a dragon shifters daughter. So very good with some danger and excitement thrown in.
Loved this book great start to the series. Serena takes a job of a nanny to a ball of energy and fun Delilah who’s daddy is Lachlan. Lachlan is a single father and loves his daughter but projects are getting behind Alice the doctor advisers to get a nanny and she has done her research and uses a shifter service as he is a water dragon when Serena arrives a wolf shifter the attraction is immediate. As time goes on they don’t know if they should act on their attraction or not but it turns out they can’t fight it anymore but just as they have got together Serena is taken for ransom by a rogue wolf pack that had been in crouching on their land. Serena can’t believe she is being kidnapped but also that her father is the one who has done it Serena has never met her father . Serena manages to get free and starts to run towards home the dragon territory but up ahead she finds four water dragons and she stands and fights with the dragons. Lachlan is so relived to see Serena but the wolves want a fight they have to make a stand and Serena stands with them. The fight has started and Lachlan is concerned about how many injuries Serena is getting but she carries on until the alpha turns human and Serena collapses allowing the alpha to run. After the fight Serena, Lachlan and Delilah spend family time together as that is what their unit is they deserve the HEA and believe in fated mates where once they weren’t sure.
The first story in a new series featuring the water dragons, which were introduced in the Dragon Valley series. This story is about Lachlan, the de facto leader of the small group of water dragons that live in a small community on a California peninsula. Lachlan is a single father with a rambunctious three-year-old half dragon daughter. One of his friends convinces him to hire a nanny through a website that caters to shifters looking for childcare.
Serena has been crashing on a friend's couch in Montana, unable to find a job where she can use her brand new degree in childcare. Being half wolf evidently scares off human parents, even if they don't know about her shifter roots. She finds a website that unobtrusively signals that it is for matching shifter nannies with shifter families needing childcare services. When she is informed of a match to a father in California, she only hesitates a moment over the "dragon shifter" part and focuses on the cute child and the warm climate part. The hot looking man who will be her employer has nothing to do with her decision to take the position. Really.
You will fall in love with little Delilah and her bossy attitude. Enjoy.
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
I love Kayla Wolf's dragon series and this is a great beginning of another one. Actually the water dragons were introduced in what I think is the finale of the Dragon Valley Series which is also a great read. You do not have to have read it first though because this book totally stands alone. Here you have single dad and water dragon, Lachlan and wolf shifter, Serena. Serena was raised as a human and has no background what it means to be a shifter.
Serena is hired as a nanny for Delilah who is a very energetic three year old which puts her into close proximity to Lachlan. As Lachlan and Serena fight their attraction there is danger lurking in the shadows that is set on destroying the entire water dragon settlement. I loved getting to know the other dragons in the settlement and how they all interacted and protected each other. I adored Delilah and her personality - how could you not fall in love with her. Ah, and soulmates Serena and Lachlan will have you wishing for a soulmate of your own. Although this book kept me up reading way too late to finish, I have already preordered the next two books in the series.
Dragon's Nanny: A Paranormal Romance (West Coast Water Dragons Book 1) By Kayla Wolf. 5 Stars*****
Such a touching and energizing story.
Serena and Lachlan may be different type of shifters but the pull of soulmates is so strong, and no matter how hard you try to fight its pull it will find a way to more or less slap you in the face to get it. Lol.
Single blue eyed dad Lachlan, Alpha Dragon, has a very rambunchous 3 year old, Delilah, that needs a nanny so he can concentrate on work, or a break, you decide lol.
Along comes Serena, who happens to need a job, takes off to Californa for the position. What she walks into turns into some whoa and wow sitsuations.
Things get heated in more ways than one between these two. When danger strikes all bets are off and the excitment begans in this story. Nice.
I have voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog.
This is the kind of romance I like. The characters are sympathetic, and there's a little bit of external conflict to spice things up.
That said, the plot did drag a little, in places. There were also "two weeks later" places in the book, where I felt like I missed out on the characters getting to know each other and fall in love. The setting was also a bit of a problem for this native California girl. The beach and weather seemed to indicate Southern California, but there are references suggesting their little unnamed peninsula is in the north. California is a really big state. Southern California is different in culture and ecology. But it's also a fairly populous state. If this little spit is so beautiful, why haven't people already settled there?
I was doing fine reading this book. That is until I got to the rip off points of Silence of the Lambs the way that she was kidnapped! I thought seriously is this really how this book is going to be written for how she gets kidnapped!? It was at that moment that I felt like I wanted to stop reading this book but I wanted to see how it turned out for the two characters in the end. That was the only reason why I made it to the end of this book. I also did not like the way their first an issue time went together. It was rather boring and rather than Ellis. However the book is not bad but a little long-winded paragraph wise just as a filling for the most part. But the actual story line is not that bad.
This is about waterdragons who settle on a peninsula to keep their group safe. I get the impression there are not many of them, and the shifter lore is a bit different, no vampires and they shift with their clothes on, and rouge wolves aren’t a thing apparently?? And soulmates isn’t the whole snap when you see or smell them with tingles etc.
The leader of the dragons takes on a nanny and they fall for each other. She is a wolf. A bunch of nomad wolves attack, it’s the nanny’s dad, she gets kidnapped. They save her and ta dah marriage.
There is a lot of internal monologue from all the characters in this story that really isn’t needed. Pages of it which is annoying and doesn’t add to the story, I skipped most of it.
Book one in anew series from an author whose work I always enjoy and this one was no exception
We met the water dragons in a previous series but now we are obviously getting their stories and the first cab of the rank is Lachlan he is the single father of a three year old daughter Delilah and Serena is employed as her nanny Serena is a wolf shifter but was raised as a human and ghas no understanding of her shifter side Lachlan is well in touch with his dragon knows that it is yelling mate every time it is near Serena. He knows that he can't claim her after all he is her employer but will he be able to resist. With Serena also feeling the attraction though will they be able to resist,
Very good paranormal romantic suspense. The blurb gives a bit of an intro to the story but there is much more to it. Water dragons are unique and Lachlan is a leader so he's been the go to buy for their community. His daughter is a very energetic three year old and he has no one to watch her. This leads him to hire a shifter nanny. Serena is excited about her new job and meeting her new job. What she didn't expect is the way she felt upon meeting Lachlan. Sadly, trouble is brewing. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Wolf.
I love shifter series that involve insta love and that animalistic urge of alpha possessiveness!! And Lachlan seems to the leader of their dragon group though he’s not claiming the title and when wolf shifter Serena walks into his life that punch to the gut realization hits them both except it’s a small little girl who seems to claim Serena before Lachlan even puts it together that she’s his mate! Though the storyline was good I feel as if it left me with more questions and less resolve to the story...I wanted Serena to get her revenge but I’m glad for a happy ending!
Wow I never would have expected these two together ! A Dragon and a Wolf ! YES ! This is Lachlan and Serena's story . I loved this one !! He needs to stay away from her since she is his daughter's nanny but the draw is just too strong with his dragon fighting for her all the way ! I just love the way this author grabbed me from the first and kept me drawn into this book ! Well written and recommended to all !!!
Delilah is a wildly busy toddler, in to everything. Lachlan is trying to build cottages, just doesn't work that well. He hires Serena, a part wolf nanny. Delilah takes instantly to her, so does Lachlan. Soul mates really? Between a wolf and a Water Dragon? Guess you will have to read to find out what happens. Good read, I don't think I've ever read anything by this author before. I read this through the program.
Omg! This is my first time reading oneof Kayla Wolf books. This is the first book in anew series called West Coast Water Dragons. I fell in love with Serena and Lachlan. This story is about a single dragon shifter dad and a wolf shifter nanny. The storyline has it all from a hot chemistry, and an emotional rollercoaster. It's a quick easy read. Highly recommended. I found it hard to put it down until the end. I can't wait for the next book to come outin this series. Keep up the awesome job.
I enjoyed reading this book, it has a good storyline. There is action, intrigue, and adventure, the chemistry and interaction between the characters of Serena and Lachlan is wonderful. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
With the exception of a few mentions of different characters making a shift, it was more a typical romance where he falls for the nanny. Overall good story. A few intimacy scenes, nothing steamy or over the top. No cheating or cliffhanger and you get a happy ever after.
Hot. Dragon. Shifters. Almost had me there, but I do insist on an actual plot and decent writing. Luckily Kayla Wolf is an excellent writer, and Dragon's Nanny (West Coast Water Dragons, Book 1) has a great plot. It’s a truly fun paranormal romance that’s really well done - and, yes, there’s definitely a hot dragon shifter in the lead. Yummy. And fun. And recommended.
This is the first book I have read by Kayla Wolf, and it was great! I like the community she has created here, and the way she describes it made me feel like I could go to California and it would be there. I plan on reading the rest of the books in this series, as well as checking out her others books. Mature eyes only due to hot 🔥 Dragon loving!!!
Dragon’s Nanny is book one in the series West Coast Water Dragons by author Mia & Kayla Wolf. Intriguing start to a new series- storyline is entertaining and there’s a hint of mystery, so all the better. Chemistry between the characters is exciting. Best part there’s more- more alpha males- more shifters - more dragons!! Can’t wait for the next book. Enjoy!!
This book was well written and the story was great glad Delilah got a mommy. I hate that they left Serena's father alive, idk why the wolves just can't get over it and on with their lives. Festering over something a few decades old. Can't wait for more water dragons.
A very enjoyable, intriguing, emotional story. He and his dragon both want her. But she is taking care of his kid. Two different kinds of shifters but what the heart and dragon want they get. I recommend it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Gotta love the dragons! This is a well written story with charismatic (and hot) characters. There are plenty of laughs involved, but action and excitement too. Great start to a new series, and definitely worth reading!
Kayla does an amazing job of telling the story. Single dragon shifter dad and a wolf shifter nanny. What could go wrong? A lot lol but a ton goes right too. Amazing job and great book. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed this book with the great characters and the little girl the nanny takes care of. Of course there are some nasty wolf shifters which you will be interested in knows who they are and what they do. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Very cute story. It was my first book I had ever read by you Kayla and I honestly can say... I like it very much. I read it in two days that is between home & breaks at work. I enjoyed it very much!!! 😍😍😍
This is a great book and I so enjoyed the story line. I would have liked if the story line had gone on a little longer to include some of their life after their bonding ceremony.
The book was good but lack some suspense but okay to read. This was the first book I've ever read from this author. I would try another of her books. All in all do read the book dont go by my comments only. form your own opinion
