Nerds Who Knot #4

The Heat Professor

Rate this book
Professor Damien Ringdal has a heat latch.

Sometimes alphas who have been working as a heat companion for an extended period of time develop an uncontrollable urge to bond. AKA, a heat latch. AKA, a huge problem. Especially because his uncontrollable urges seem to be directed at his student, Tatum Bloom.

Tatum has a crush.

He can’t be the first undergraduate to notice how ridiculously handsome Professor Ringdal is. But Tatum assumes nothing will come of it. After all, Damien’s twelve years older than him and not the kind of man who would ever date his student. Until the night Damien shows up on his doorstep, and gives him a kiss Tatum won't ever forget.

In a world where medical complications sometimes feel like love, how will Damien know the difference? And how will Tatum protect his heart from the perfect man while Damien figures it out?

The Heat Professor is a 48,000-word professor/student age-gap romance set in the omegaverse with MPreg, nesting, and suspenders. It’s book four in the Nerds Who Knot series, and will make more sense if you’ve read the other books in the series.

This was definitely the best book out of the series.

Damien and Tatum were perfect for each other when the circumstances weren’t haha.

Glad I started this series, but you can read these as standalones if you want. There are only one or two chapters with previous characters but not a huge impact on this book.

4.5 stars Tatum and Damien

Damien is a professor and educator of the history of sex workers. One of his students is Tatum a gorgeous much younger guy. No way he can look at him. Even tho his alpha wants to connect with this omega.
Tatum has an internet sex channel where he gets paid by his viewers. He needs the money to take care of his mother who has dementia.
Tatum feels the pull of Damien like Damien can’t resist the younger omega.
Only it will cost him his job. As a heat consultant, he helped a lot of people who needed assistance, now he himself needs help. He has to find a mate.
Tatum knows for sure Damien will never choose him as his mate but he desperately wants to be with him, even just once. Little does he know about Damien.

“Socios in Fatis”

It’s just ridiculous delicious how perfect it all felt. The care-taking, the gifts, the strong bond.
The hurt Tatum feels was heavy palpable, the health issues were well woven into this story. I love stories with alpha’s, omega’s, mpreg, scent, knotting and bites!
It’s a vibrant, vividly written story. I love this way of writing, witty, humorous, energetic and sweet.
The characters were all engaging and had their characteristics. It had a great plot and a lot of steamy sexiness.
And the end? It made me cry happy emotional tears.

A lovely tale that was a pleasure to read.

You know when you are reading an Amy Bellows' book ; they all have a positive and healthy view on sex , relationships, friendship and body image .

Even , when the characters go through period of distress, angst or drama the fact remains , when you finish reading one of her books , you will feel good and empowered . And that , for me is a tell , of how talented she is as a communicator .

And, The Heat Professor is the perfect example of my previous statement . An emotional, unpredictable and sexy, professor/student , non-shifter, Mpreg romance; set in the Omegaverse and part of Nerds Who Knots series.

An entertaining and touching story that even when take place in a fictional alternative world , it have real, true to our daily life , current situations . And it's dealt and resolved with sensitivity, common sense , love and kindness.

2.5 stars? Maybe?

Idk the vibes were just very off with this for me. I haven’t read a lot of omegaverse books, only some by Roe Horvat and Marina Vicanocs which I really liked, but I think I got lucky with those.

Certain things about the professor just gave me creep vibes and I really can’t explain why but it just did. I also didn’t that much of a connection between the mcs but that could’ve been because of my dislike of the prof.

There was a few other things that I just didn’t really like. All of them were a personal preference so I don’t think the book was necessarily bad, just not for me.

I started to skim a bit after 80% cause I didn’t wanna dnf it with only a small bit left, but it means I mostly skimmed the birth stuff. I think this was the first omegaverse story I read with a birth? I know Roe Horvats ones had brief mentions of pregnancies at the very end, and I can’t remember if the birth was ever actually a thing but either way it’s still something I don’t really enjoy.

What I like about this particular series is that with each couple the challenges to each couple are unique and it's interesting to see the different aspects of her universe. What I would like more of is the actual world building. There's been questions that I had that are not really discussed in the books such as how the women alphas inseminate the omegas (I just discovered on the author's Facebook page that they have a type of penis, if I read that right) and are there any female alphas that have a male omegas? Since most of the Omegaverse books written by different authors have their own spins on it, I would like to know more about it.

I am not normally a fan of teacher/student stories but what I liked about this one was that neither of the MCs were super-aggressively flirtatious initially and it didn't seem inappropriate because of the situation. Damien, the teacher, wasn't expecting any return favors from Tatum, the student. It was a unique situation and it was acceptable to me.
Just to say, that I don't judge if others enjoy that dynamic, it's just normally not my thing (although, I enjoy age gap, so go figure.)

I wasn't thrilled about the ending it seemed to just sort of happen and felt like more of a commentary than a part of this narrative. It would've been different maybe if it had been expounded upon.

I read the first chapter for the next book coming out and once again, it's another unique situation that I can't wait to read.

This wasn’t my favorite book in the series it was my favorite Amy Bellows book.

From start to finish I just loved these guys. I loved their connection and how the story played out. I love the whole pronouns and how that was incorporated I don’t want to say too much about that.

It had so much opportunity to be full of angst but it wasn’t not a single bit it just flowed with the right amount of heat and perfect amount of will they won’t they.

If you love naughty prof takes his handsome younger student bent over his desk fantasy this is definitely the book for you. Add in Mermaid bananas and you have one of the best books I’ve read in a while.

Fantastic story by a fantastic author.

Yeah, you guessed it, I have no useful notes for this one either, so I will just say that both protagonist of this romance are sex-workers and the book does focus a bit on sex-work in omegaverse and the way those two things influence each other and I was a fan. I thought that the romance was pretty enjoyable as well.

This book also features a character who suffers from short-memory loss, which is so tough and I thought it was portrayed really well here - what does that means for the carer and the people in the carers life, but also how it influences the friendships the person with the memory loss makes. I really appreciated how humanely and almost matter-of-factly this was portrayed while also showing the tough parts (like accidentally flooding your appartement).

So, yeah... good time!

Probably one of my favorites

If you want the short and sweet review, this book is beautiful. It's emotional and heartfelt. Damian's omega mother is a riot and it's beautifully smutty. Go read it. Now I'm going to rant.

So I was not emotionally ready to read this book for a long time. What Tatum goes through with his mom hit way too close to home for me. Tatum as a whole hit way too close to home if I'm being honest. I've always said that I've related to Ansel the most out of all of Amy's characters but Tatum and I have a little too much in common. Point is, this book was a lot for me. So while it is relatively low angst I may or may not have clutched my chest in pain once or twice. And all those moments have to do with Tatum.

And Damien? That man has no business being as perfect as he was in this book. Oftentimes when I read books that have a black male MC who is in the alpha/top role, it's borderline offensive how they're portrayed. Like, I know I shouldn't be because there are men who act like this and it's just a book but I low-key am. And admittedly, I had the tiniest fear that would have happened here. I should've had more faith in an author who has never let me down so that's on me.

For a book that is under 200 pages there's a lot packed in. It's heartfelt and emotional, it's funny and smutty, and a serious conversation is being had about sex work (which is real work and should be decriminalized btws). In a weird way that's probably one of my favorite things about Amy's books, how sex workers are treated and how the profession is talked about. Again, it hits close to home. This book has aged really well. I think it holds up and I think if you're into mpreg at all, you'll love it. It's not technically Amy's strongest book but it'll probably go down as one of my favorites. Five stars because I'm trash and that doctor better be getting an HEA.

You would be foolish not to read this book. Amy is a fantastic writer who captivates your mind body and soul with every word she puts on paper. The characters in the story in this book are amazing. The view she took with the sex work is positive & open minded. It's worth more than 5 stars.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Tatum and Damien. Tatum is a college student who is caring for his mother and works as a camboy to earn money. Tatum's mother was in an accident that cause her to have short term memory problems and she can't live alone. Tatum wants to be a social worker who helps sex trade workers and is taking college courses to finish his degree. Damien is a college professor who had worked as a heat companion, he helps omegas get through their heat. Damien has been diagnosed with heat latch, a condition when an alpha can't control his urge to find an omega and made, even if the omega doesn't want to. Damien knows he has to tell the university about his condition and the organization where he volunteers to help sex trade workers. Tatum has also been hired as an intern at the same organization. Damien is attracted to Tatum, but he knows he can't mate with him because he is younger and a student. Damien decides to watch Tatum's cam show and when Tatum realizes who Damien is, he puts on a show for him, making Damien crazy with lust for him. Damien goes to his mother for help and she decides to keep him under lock and key until he finds a mate. Damien wants Tatum and he wants to get to know him, so he asks if they can talk online to get to know one another until Damien finds a mate. Tatum agrees, even if he knows he will be heartbroken when Damien finds his mate, knowing it can't be him. I really enjoyed this book. I found it an interesting take on the omega/ alpha romance. I really liked Tatum, he was so responsible and trying to do so much on his own. Damien wanted to love him and take care of him, but he knew it was against everyone's rules. I think Tatum and Damien really had a connection and great chemistry. Good one.

Loved It

This was one of those books that, about a quarter of the way through, I thought there was no good way to work this out. The way the plot resolved itself was spectacular.

Tatum and Damian has everything working against them but somehow they were just perfect together. The way that Damian cared for Tatum was lovely to see. Tatum rally just needed someone to see who he really was. Asides from Tatum and Damian getting their HEA, it was nice to see that Damian found a new way to love his life happily. These books really do get better and better.

I have heaped praise upon this author for her stellar coverage of different social issues and this book is no different. Tatum being a sex worker was never and issue, nor was Damian’s sex work. I loved that. I loved that it is seen as a valid profession that deserves all the safety and protection as other professions.

I also loved the surprise in the end with the little bundle of joy, which I won’t spoil here. However, I do have a quibble. In every dang book, when we have an MC in labor, he does the stereotypical yelling and screaming about how much it hurts and how the other MC can’t ever touch him again. I don’t love that. That’s not how the majority of labors go and it would be nice to see an omega give birth without all the yelling and such. (There may have been an exception with Marcus and Gabe, as Gabe had a c-section.)

Overall, another wonderful addition to this series and I hope the next is released soon.

Can a professor and his student actually be mates?

I love this book! What a wonderful addition to the Nerds Who Knot series. This is not your traditional professor/student story. There are more twists and turns than usual on the road to HEA. You will love this book! Amy has created characters you really care about. She does a great job educating us about the sex worker dilemma in the omegaverse, making it blend right into the heady of the story. This is not a "preachy" book. It just takes the stigma off how we perceive sex workers in the omegaverse, and hopefully in our universe as well. What a great book!
This is Tatum and Damien's story. Damien is the heat professor; educating people on the history of sex work; advocating for their rights. A former heat companion, Damien knows how all-encompassing attraction can be. His pull towards Tatum is as relentless as it is "wrong". Tatum is his best student; intelligent, inquisitive, caring, and gorgeous. Tatum is a camboy, making money to pay for his mother's medical bills. Gwen had short term memory loss and needs constant care. Tatum is drawn to Damien, who stars in all his fantasies, and even in his camboy shows. Watch as these two men come together. You will be drawn into their world.
This book has it all: passion, compassion, wonderful families, moral dilemmas, homie and joy. You will fall in love with Gwen, Sharita, Abbie, and Marie. Yes, there are awkward moments, angst, revelations, and determined men. Yes there is sex. Really hot sex. Did I mention mpreg? Ooh, and a mom who writes erotic gay romance novels. What's not to love!
While this book stands alone, I recommend reading the first 3 books in the Nerds Who Knot series. The books are great! Also, characters from those books appear on this book, tying them together.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex, and is intended for mature readers only.

The Heat Professor is a fabulous student/teacher romance that hooked me immediately. Honestly, I wanted to re-read this Amy Bellows book as soon as I finished it.

Both Tatum and Damien are loveable characters. Their relationship is full of heat and spice. I totally enjoy the way they come together, and the obstacles they face. The connection between them is absolute and their chemistry is smoking.

The angst is well done and just the right amount. This is a wonderful combination of forbidden romance, mpreg, and fated mates. But most of all, it contains nesting, which is by far my favorite part. Omg, there are so many emotions involved in these scenes. I love it all, and it's so much better than I could have ever anticipated.

Both moms are super fun characters who add a whole lot of charm to the tale.

And, oh dear lord, the baby brought tears to my eyes. It's a beautiful scene. And, if that wasn't sweet enough, Damien's Thanksgivings just broke me. Happy tears, happy tears, and more happy tears.

The author's writing style is excellent. The storyline is both riveting and compelling. I could not put this book down.

The Heat Professor is a perfect read when you're in the mood for a heart-warming tale of two men who want to make a difference in the world. I loved every damn second of this Amy Bellows gem. I don't want to give too much away, but I can't suggest this book enough. Just read it. I know I will be re-reading it soon.

Loving this series from Amy Bellows!
I really enjoyed both characters in this story. Damien is an alpha professor and Tatum is an omega student/camboy. They are from vastly different backgrounds in both family unit, income level and opportunities but when together, they just click. It jumps off the page with how well they work together and you can feel a real connection between them. There is a lot of heat but perfectly matched with sweet moments, especially as Damien likes to treat Tatum so well, something the omega is not used to.
They have the problem of being student/teacher and what that could mean for a possible future for the two men but more immediately important is something that Damien has recently been diagnosed with that could alter his actions when around omegas.
We continue with the theme of fated mates that has run through the series so far and, though this could probably be read as a stand alone, I'd recommend reading the series in order as a couple of terms and explanations follow throughout the series. We even get a conversation or two with characters from the previous books but 95% of this book focuses on Damien and Tatum.
I love this series and recommend this book as a great addition to the previous three. Excited for book five!
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

The Heat Professor by author Amy Bellows. This is a nonshifter, Mpreg, story. And this is the fourth book in the Nerd Who Knots series. I will say I have not read any of the other books, I was not lost reading this one. This book is written in dual pov.
Tatum: he is a webcam boy. He is also a college student. He is taking care of his mom who is not able to retain anything short term due to a car crash. He also has a huge crush on his professor. He is a good omega and has a ton of stress in his life.
Damien he is an alpha. He is a professor of sex work history at the college. He used to help omegas with their heat. Been diagnosed with heat latch. He really needs a mate. He is protective, and it is amped to about 1000 when he is around Tatum. He is about ten years older than Tatum and knows he should keep away from him.
I loved the sizzle in this book. Wow, this one is a scorcher. I loved the connection these two characters have, and I am loving the pace of this book too. I highly recommend this book to any true romantic, there is insta love feel to this, but I love it. If you are a romantic this is the book for you.

Just when you think Amy Bellows can’t give you a cuter couple…bam…meet Damien and Tatum!

Damien shouldn’t want his student to be his omega…he’s fighting it because he’s developed‘Heat Latch’ from helping so many Omegas through their heats as a heat companion. As an advocate for sex workers he can’t remain in the classroom or help out as a heat companion unless he risks getting out of hand and bonding with a potentially unwilling omega. What is the heat professor going to do?

Tatum is putting himself through college and caring for his mother (who has short term memory loss after an accident)) as a cam boy. As a sex worker and future social worker he not only likes Damien’s class but also has a crush on his professor.

These two will have you cheering, laughing and anxious to see what happens next! Don’t miss this one!

It can be read as a standalone, characters from previous books in the series make guest appearances (which will cause you to want to read their story too).

As always with Amy Bellows, the characters are so well written and the world building is so believable readers get drawn into the story and plots.

The audible version is amazing! The narration really brings the characters to life. Hot sex scenes and hilarious nesting adventure will have you listening to the whole book in one setting!

I love this author and this series so I had high expectations. I am so happy to say that my expectations were thoroughly exceeded.

Tatum is in such a difficult situation. Learning more about his life really pulled all my heartstrings. His desire to not only survive but really thrive despite the difficulties in his life was really wonderful and made his HEA so much more meaningful for me.

The story hits on so many important topics. Things that are important for everyone in society. The need for assisting, educating the public, and support for sex workers is an issue that has been important since the beginning of time but it is often not discussed. I am thrilled that the author did not use the characters’ occupations as a sad tale of hardship but instead told the other side of sex work. It reminds the reader that there are those who make that occupational decision not because they have no other options but for a multitude of personal reasons that are valid and no different than me choosing my 9-to-5.

I also tremendously appreciate the acknowledgement of the issues surrounding gender. I won’t get into details because of spoilers but it made me feel very happy to read.

This book has so much feeling and heartbreak and heat. It’s the absolute perfect mix of all those things. A well-crafted story that has a fun mix of kinks and heat sex but also hits on important topics. It felt like the perfect hot, emotional mpreg story with a good dose of activism. What else could we want in the world? Pure perfection.

🔥🔥🔥🔥 Heat Level: 4

Wow, just such a wonderful, heartfelt, somewhat emotional story!

I love Amy’s work and loved this book just as much as the others if not more! This can definitely be read as a standalone and if you’re after an emotionally touching story with love, lust, heat and hot knotting then this is for you!! Amy creates characters you can’t help but love and be emotionally invested in. I’ll admit these characters made me cry, laugh and love! I loved the unique journey of getting to know Damien (The Heat Professor, who appears in The Bookmobile Baby) better and I loved Tatum. Tatum just broke my heart. Such a strong, caring spunky omega, who just wants to be loved and taken care of.

Damien and Tatum’s journey is unique, little risque and a little naughty (professor/student relationship) but it’s their unique connection that proves they are meant to be! I loved Amy’s unique take and introduction of true fated mates into her mpreg world and it made me love this story that much more. I also loved the s*x worker aspect and enjoyed the real-life parallels from this industry. Definitely, some food for thought weaved into such a beautiful story!

I loved this story and if you love mpreg then Amy is a go-to author! I loved it!

I read the book when it was first released. Recently I listened to the audiobook narrated by Lance West. Lets just say the book was already so well written en has a lot of attraction and heat, but my headphones where for sure sizzling how high the heat went bu the narrator his performance.

I so loved this story mm agrgap mpreg story. I always appreciate how there are parallels drawn on social issues at least in my mind, between our world and the world Amy Bellows create.
Professor Damien, who worked as a heat companion and advocates, for those who have no voice, sexworkers etc., now seems to have a heat latch.
Tatum is a student, caregiver for his mom and camboy who has found an internship at the office where they advocate.
They feel an attraction, even in the clasdroom, but don't know if it is due to the heat latch and an upcoming heat for Tatum.
5* book, 5* narration, 5* overall

My heart hurt so often in this book. Tatum has had it hard, so young yet so much responsibility. And Damien is the perfect partner to help him carry all that weight.

I cried a bit in the middle when Tatum was confronted about ruining Damien's career because it was so spiteful and nasty. I was so pissed and upset because she had no right. But I get where she was coming from.

I'm happy that all misunderstandings were resolved and the couple could united. I felt this one mainly because of how perfect they really were for each other. Being a heat companion and a camboy they understood sex work and didn't feel ashamed of it. They knew they served a purpose and helped people in their own way. It was nice to see this perspective because not many dare to go there.

Btw Issac has so many kids wow. Every book he just has more. 😂

This story is EVERYTHING and MORE

Honestly I absolutely love this series!! I didn’t know what to expect from the Heat Professor because when Damien was originally brought in I was praying for Simon and his Daddy to be able to conceive on their own because I had to root for them.. but learning more of Damien’s work and the actual in-depth storyline with Sex Work and Tatum—I love them. I love their story. This is taking over as my favorite in this series (which is saying A LOT because I love the Bondcut Omega so incredibly much). I love how they all intertwine and pop up in this book and I love fates mates. Amy bellows is an amazing writer and brings so much into this book that pulls on all the heart strings. Thank you for this.

4.5* of hot student/professor story.

This is the fourth book in the Nerds who Knot series set in a non shifter, MPreg Omegaverse and this book is a really good one.

Professor Damien Ringdal who works not only at the college but also as a heat companion believes he has a medical condition call heat latch which makes him want to bond with an omega, the omega who has caught his attention is non other than a student of his. Tatum is that student by day but by night he is a Camboy, so he can support his mother. When Damien watches one of Tatum’s videos things start to spiral for both of them.

This is a lovely, steamy story by an author I very much enjoy reading, full of love, care and health attitudes to sex and relationships. A book that is a pleasure to read.

Received an ARC copy from the author in return for an honest review.

*Contains Spoilers*

I was so excited when I saw this ARC in my email and Amy Bellows once again did not disappoint!!
Absolutely loved the chemistry Tatum and Damien had from the get go and LOVED the twist of them being fated mates 😍

The sex as usual was smoking hot and could’ve only wished for more even though there is a decent amount in this book. 🤤😂 I really like it in Omegaverse books where the omega ‘nests’ when they go into heat; it’s one of my favourite things about this genre of book.

I also really liked how you get to see the side of sex workers and what they go through. And absolutely loved the angst and always applaud an author who can give me an actual ‘pang’ in my chest when I read those bits!

Definitely a One-Click Author with no regrets. Can’t wait for the next one!

This one didn't really work for me. I liked Tatum but didn't care for Damien. I also don't care for student/teacher tropes or fated pairs

Also, Damien mentions the generous trust fund he has along with the money from being a host companion have made him quite comfortable. Tatum worries about finances. Damien tells him he owns his house and has plenty saved so it would be a while before finances became and issue. And then Damien muses that while they may soon be broke, at least they are together.

You're financially comfortable, you have plenty saved, money won't be an issue, but you'll soon be broke?

Truly beautiful

While I liked all the books in the series, this one is definitely my favorite (although Gabe and Marcus gave them a run for their money). Amy Bellows truly knows how to build relationships and characters. Tatum's vulnerability really spoke to me and I absolutely adore him. I also love that these relationships are solid. There's no jealousy or second guessing. No extra or unnecessary drama. While I fall hard for books, I don't normally cry and this story definitely brought a tear to my. I highly recommend the entire series and hope that there are more in the future!

The Heat Professor and his sweet Omega

What I like about Amy Bellows' books, is that there is a main character that has some form of a challenge in his life.. This book explores family difficulties, and finding the one true soul that will step in and help.
It has age differences, family drama, an excited dog that slobbers all over you, and a sexy suspenders kink. It is a story of love, has a satisfying HEA, and does not end in a cliffhanger. We even get to visit with past characters from previous books.
