I am 78yrs of age and have lost many friends and family to that come-to-us all, dare I mention it; death. They are now part of that illustrious fraternity called history and through time they will certainly be forgotten. This writing is my way of bringing to light their memory and be a book of remembrance for myself and family. It is human nature for one to want to be remembered, look at the number of biographies that are written. Mostly conceited rubbish by the way which this book will avoid, believe me, I will make it gripping and intriguing for not only my family but to everyone. To explore and discover has been man's objective since time immemorial, again it's human nature to be inquisitive and adventurous, just look at the shelves in your local library; history books in abundance. The knowledge that is available to us all not only in our local library but on the Web is astounding and we should grasp it with gratitude. I believe everyone should take advantage of this and write as I have; A record which could last for generations about not only their family but how they lived and died. There is fantastic satisfaction in discovering the details of their lives and relating it to events from their time. It doesn't require to be a full-blown explicit manuscript, or a novel of Shakespearean standard. If you are sufficiently competent enough to have a conversation then you can write a book. Just imagine you are talking to someone; it's easy. Get all that interesting stuff about your present family, that's your starting point, make it available for your grandchildren and even further generations. This is what my book is about 500yrs of family and their involvement in history. There is no listing of dull dried up reports which show birth, death and marriage data, this is an interesting family record which will benefit anyone wishing to as I suggest; get down to it and write. Have you the reader got a little bit of memorabilia, maybe an old bible with some information written inside or even if your lucky an old ancestors diary? I'm sure if you have you regard it as a treasure, do not be selfish by keeping it to yourself get it recorded your descendants will be grateful. I am one of the lucky ones who discovered such a document. The Holy Grail find in Genealogy; a hand written paper giving information about my family from 200rs ago. Have I convinced you to write? I hope so, anyway one way or another I am sure you will find my book interesting and rewarding. My first book called WHY was commented on as being a ripping story by a leading Scottish author and is selling quite well. This one will be even better, in fact it will be a rip-roaring epic. It's going to blow your mind and will cause such controversy within my family I will probably be disowned. The main topic in the book is my ancestors, boring stuff you might think. Well think again ? My wife Margaret and I have travelled Scotland, Ireland, Portugal and Spain searching and discovering and when the book is read it will be appreciated that I have included parts of history where my family were involved. When I talk about my family, again it has to be appreciated that there is more to it than just the Ewing's, I must have hundreds of cousins with different surnames for instance; Forsythe and Skidmore; my grandmothers and mothers to name but a few. I also know that I am related to a considerable amount of Americans and Canadians who I mention with due respect, my sister in law included. There are a few chapters relating to my American.
