She’s back in his life… and this time he’s not letting go.

Gage Granger knew back in high school that his friend and secret crush was desperate to get out of Last Stand, Texas. But with his roots running deep into the Hill Country soil of his family’s ranch, he couldn’t leave and so made the tough decision to let her go.

When Faith Stone runs into Gage in a San Antonio bar, she’s had just enough to drink to act on feelings that haven’t cooled in six years. And enough sense to flee the morning after. Yet almost twelve weeks later she’s back in her hometown and despite her life-altering news, her plan’s the same—leave Last Stand and its painful memories behind. Faith will never be anyone’s burden or responsibility again.

For Gage, Faith has always been the one. But he’ll have an uphill battle to convince her his heart is true.

“Cowboy True”, by Michelle Beattie (Tule Publishing), is a lovely, emotionally heartfelt story, featuring a broken but strong heroine and a hero whose gentleness and kindness is captivating.
Gage and Faith’s story is sweet and has the intensity of lost chances and long, secret crushes trying hard to resurface. I was moved by Gage’s solid determination to win Faith and his consideration with her.
Gage is the “boy next door”, “easygoing, good-looking and friends with everyone”, yet he struggles with his past, too, and once he was a little boy “drowning in grief with nobody to help him through it”. A great, strong Beta hero.
Faith’s childhood is heart-wrenching. I felt compassion for her, what she’s been through and the baggage she carries; although at some parts her insecurities felt a bit too much, they were understandable.
Their HEA is hard to get but they really deserve it, they’re a great couple.
The secondary characters are also well written and add depth to the story; the brothers relationship is so realistic and made me laugh with their fights and bickering about laundry duties.

I received this arc in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in this Last Stand Texas series about the Granger family. We met 4 of the 5 brothers in book one. We also learned that the dad had a heart attack and remained in a coma for a couple of weeks so far. Also an unknown young woman brought him in to the hospital and disappeared. This mystery is still unresolved. This book is about Gage Granger who is an EMT and helps out on the family ranch on his days off. All the brothers have issues getting along stemming from when they mother died and their dad left the oldest son Dallas to handle their personal lives.

We learn that 3 months prior, Gage had a one night stand with his best friend and long time crush that he hadn’t seen in 6 years, Faith. Growing up Faith had a lack of self esteem and lived in very depressing conditions with her grandma. Her mother abandoned her and her grandma was very cold and unloving to her. She met Gage at school and he used to sneak her back to his family’s ranch for some pleasant times. As soon as Faith graduated high school, she left Last Stand for San Antonio, only returning for holidays. Gage was devastated by her departure and was thrilled to see her again. She left his hotel room without saying goodbye and he wasn’t sure how to find her again.

Faith returns to Last Stand to deliver news to Gage about their night together and her resulting pregnancy. She tells him she plans to put the baby up for adoption and again leave town. Gage tells her he wants to keep the baby himself, thus foiling her plans. He works on a plan to change Faith’s mind as well as to try and establish a relationship between them.

The story explored both Gage and Faith’s past feelings for each other as well as their current ones. We also see the interactions between the brothers as they take small steps to restore a stronger bond. Faith struggles to overcome her past issues that are influencing how she reacts to having a baby. The mystery of the dad and the unknown woman continues to play out in this book too. I am really enjoying the series and can’t wait to read the rest of the books. This one like the first was terrific and hard to put down.

Cowboy True is the second story in the Tangled Up in Texas series, also part of the Last Stand, Texas line. We’ve met the Granger brothers in their first story, Cowboy Up and they all have a lot to deal with, come to terms with and move on from – and that will also include the ladies in their lives who add complications as well.

When Faith and Gage run into each other at a bar it’s obvious that neither has gotten past high school secret crushes for their feelings are strong enough to end up in a one night stand that Gage thought would be the start of something… it wasn’t, then, at least. Now several weeks later Faith is back in town with news for Gage and a decision already made. It’s up to Gage to get past her defenses, show her that life together in Last Stand is worth fighting for and to convince her that her past is right where it should be – in the past, the future lies ahead with him. It’s not going to be easy to win that argument by any definition. Faith will never, ever again allow herself to be seen as or to feel like a burden on someone she cares about. It’s now up to Gage to show her that loving someone is no burden at all.

I’ll admit that it took me a while to warm up to Faith. I could definitely understand her viewpoint, yet it took seeing Gage’s reactions to her and her news before I finally could say that I liked her. Now, Gage, I adored this straight-talking cowboy from the start. As Faith and Gage work out their relationship we’ll run into known faces, get a little further in the overall feel of this series and maybe get a hint of the next brother to fall. I enjoyed Cowboy True, there’s chemistry, humor, angst, regrets, and hope for the future mixed up with two people going beyond that crush into full-blown lifetime lasting love. If you love a solid romance with believable, relatable characters then you’ll enjoy this story and series.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Tule Publishing. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I’m sure glad I discovered this author. Back in August, I read my first Michelle Beattie book. It was the first in this series, Cowboy Up. I didn’t realize until later she is know for her pirates and that had been her first contemporary romance. I’m glad she’s sticking with the contemporary romance thing with this series because she’s really great at it.

Faith and Gage have a wonderful chemistry. Both as friends and as a romantic attraction. Of course, they both keep so much from each other they don’t realize they aren’t alone in their years of attraction. As the story unfolds and they let go of their past hurts, they start to heal old wounds caused by their families.

While Faith could drive me crazy with her doubts and insecurities, I also could understand where she was coming from. Talk about a twisted childhood. Between her mom and her grandma, it’s a surprise she had any sort of self esteem at all. Faith is such a wonderful person that they few people she’s let in have tried tearing a hole in her view of herself.

Although Gage is such a wonderful man and a great character, he even has faults. They are hard to find, but they are there. Luckily, he’s such a good guy that once they are pointed out to him he admits to said flaws and decides to work on them.

I am anxiously awaiting stories on the rest of the Granger brothers. I love this author’s story telling.

I could not put down Faith and Gage’s love story in Cowboy True by Michelle Beattie, book two in her Tangled Up in Texas series. This is a wonderful, emotional, and heartwarming story, featuring two broken individuals, due to their upbringings, who have grown into two strong adults. Faith is our dispirited but strong heroine while Gage is our hero whose gentleness and kindness to all is amazing and selfless.

These two former school friends spent an amazing night reconnecting in San Antonio after six years apart. Faith is reluctant to return to her hometown, needing to tell Gage about the consequences from their night together. She has no desire to stay in Last Stand, especially after all of her painful memories. Faith is determined that she will never again be anyone’s burden or responsibility again. Gage knows that Faith has always been the one. He also realizes that he has an uphill battle before he can convince her that his heart is hers, and always has been.

Ms. Beattie wrote a wonderful, heartwarming and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Gage a chance to prove to Faith that she can trust in his love. I highly recommend Cowboy True to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.

Cowboy True by Michelle Beattie is the continuing story of the Granger family whose father is in very sick. There is enough emotional baggage to go around for all involved in the story but none has more than Faith Stone. A dismal childhood causes her to flee Last Stand, Texas as soon as she is old enough. Now she is back, well, sort of, short term anyway. Gage Granger has always loved her so he is going to do his best to change her mind.

Second chance romances are one of my favorites but the other relationship predicament that Faith and Gage find themselves in, not so much. Still I understand that she had to have a strong reason to return to Last Stand. Their story is heartfelt, realistic and had me pulling for Gage. His brothers are typical with the usual sibling teasing, arguments and loyalty even with their baggage. Their interactions are part of why I enjoy this series so much. There is also a bit of a mystery that is interesting, so I want to keep reading to see how that all plays out as the series continues. Still this is a stand-alone read for the most part.

An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

And I’ve done it again!!! I’ve started a series not on the first book. This is my first time reading author Michelle Beattie & I enjoyed her book. There was a sadness running through it with the pain of Faith’s family history & the thought that she was unlovable. I enjoyed the lengths Gage went to while trying to show Faith how much he loved her. I was a tad lost a few times when mentioning the brother Dallas & his girlfriend Ashley & their history but that’s because I didn’t read the first book in the series YET, but I will. The drama of the push & pull back between Gage & Faith kept me hooked & not wanting to put this book down until I finished it as did the mystery surrounding the Granger brothers father. Their chemistry was strong as was their friendship & love. This book left me with a feel good feeling & am looking forward to seeing how their story turns out further. Thank you to Tule Publishing for giving me the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Gage and Faith were friends in high school. Gage was always going to stay in Last Stand Texas, she couldn't wait to get out. Faith needed to put her past literally behind her and go where no one knew her family. Back in the day they both had a secret crush on the other. Now six years later they run into each other in San Antonio and with the help of a little liquid courage she hooks up with him. Three months later Gage finds her back in their hometown and he has a few questions for her. He would like to know why we woke up alone after the best sex of his life with his dream girl. Can Gage make Faith see that she is so much more than her family roots? Can he convince her that she is worthy of and able to give love? This is a friends to lover story with the twist of Faith realizing her full potential. You can't help but want Gage for yourself. Great read!

Cowboy True is such a good book! It's a second chance romance that had me turning the pages from the very first to the end. Faith and Gage have this connection between them that we all see and hey do as well but Faith for some reason fights it. Well, we see the reason but she still fights the attraction. Then when fate throws a baby in the way life really get "hairy". Gage is most certainly what I would call a George Strait of Cowboys or as the title says a Cowboy True. The path is not straight by any means so saddle up and come find out how Faith and Gage get along in this romance. You love it I promise you.

Love this book, love this author. In the same manner of the first the author introduces you to two characters who’ve had difficult pasts in which they must overcome in order to allow the other in. She makes you feel along with the characters which makes you read as quickly as you can to take the ride with the characters to the feel good ending. Can’t wait for more Granger brothers, I’m really dying to get to Ryker’s story.

For Gage, Faith has always been the one. But he’ll have an uphill battle to convince her his heart is true.
This is Faith Stone and Gage Granger's story.
When Faith Stone made up her mind, she stuck with it. So, despite her galloping heartbeat and sweaty palms, she kept her foot on the gas pedal. Well, she did slow down when her car crested the hill, but who could blame her? The Texas Hill Country was gorgeous.
Acres of tidy, clipped grapevines marched on both sides of the highway. Wine tasting attracted tourists from not only all over the state but also the country. But the region had more to offer than award-winning wines.
Rolling hills of fields that, even with the bluebonnets done for the year, burst with wildflowers. From the red, orange, and yellow Indian blanket that, at a distance, resembled the kind of woven fabric people paid to buy, to the pink evening primroses and brown-eyed susans. Color abounded.
Taking a deep breath, Faith turned her head and looked into Gage Granger’s green eyes. “Hi.”
“Hi yourself.” His gaze skimmed her face. “Are you hurt?”
That was when she noticed he was dressed in his navy EMT uniform. And he wasn’t alone. There was a woman behind him, also in full uniform. Tall, with her long, dark hair pulled back in a ponytail.
Cowboy True by Michelle Beattie is a 4 star book.

Cowboy True is Michelle Beattie’s 2nd book in her Tangled Up in Texas series. Again, we find ourselves on the Diamond G ranch in Last Stand, TX. This is the story of Gage Granger and Faith Stone, two teenage best friends, who reconnect six years later in a San Antonio hotel room. One night of consensual passion turns into a quagmire of emotions, that is compounded by a pregnancy.

Does Faith still love Gage, and why won’t she tell him? Does Gage really love Faith, or is he being nice because of the baby? Is Faith so destroyed by the treatment from her mother and grandmother, that she would actually give their baby up for adoption? Can Faith repair her relationship with her grandmother? Will the Granger brothers stop fighting, and repair their fractured family? Can Gage convince Faith to trust him, and claim the future they deserve… her, Gage, and their child?

The author has again written a very detailed, multi-faceted story… that keeps you on edge till the conclusion. Their emotions, their actions are riveting. Gage’s brothers Ryker, Dallas, and Cam all play huge roles in this story. Newly hired ranch-hand Roy is a treasure. He is quickly becoming my favorite character in this series. Ashley is in the running too. This is very original, very heartfelt, and a very thrilling story.

Cowboy True, second in Michelle Beattie’s Tangled Up In Texas series, is just as good as the first book. While it’s part of a series it stands alone just fine. It was nice to be brought back to Last Stand, a close-knit community in the Texas Hill Country. I felt right at home as familiar names and places popped up through the story.
I fell in love with Gage Granger as soon as he stepped onto the page. This guy has got it all. He’s gorgeous to look at but it’s his genuinely caring actions that made him a true hero for me. I admired Faith Stone, who has found herself unexpectedly pregnant after a one night stand with Gage, a man she secretly loved in high school. I respected her independence and her determination to succeed.
This is a sexy story and the encounters between Faith and Gage sizzle, though it is the emotional journey these two go through that make the story flow. I liked the way each learned the importance of trust, honesty and communication. While one or two events that pushed Faith and Gage closer together, overall this has been a thoroughly enjoyable book to read.

This is a book that I could not put down, loved Faith and Gage. A second chance romance. Both had troubled homelives growing up and were friends in high school. Gage knew Faith was leaving Last Stand as soon as she graduated but he has responsibilities at the ranch. Fast forward six years and they meet again, ends up in a one night stand. That one night stand will have lasting memories and change their futures. Now Gage just needs to convince Faith that they need to be together and that she is worthy individual.

Loved these characters, both are broken from their upbringing but now are two strong individuals. Even though Faith does not see it in herself. Gage is so compassionate to Faith. Loved how Faith wants to break the cycle of her upbringing. The ongoing mystery of Gage's dad is just killing me, I want more.

This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone, but then go back and read Cowboy Up. Now I can't wait to read the next book!!

Gabe Granger and Faith Stone have known each other since high school in the wonderful town of Last Stand, Texas in the Texas Hill Country. They both secretly liked each other six years ago back in high school but neither of them had the confidence to act on it. Faith planned on leaving Last Stand as soon as she could after graduation and Gage had no plans to leave Last Stand.

Fast forward 6 years to San Antonio and a one night stand between Gage and Faith. And twelve weeks later, Faith is on her way to Last Stand to talk to Gage and to tell him that their one night stand resulted in a pregnancy.

Can these two work their way past their old issues from their childhoods and realize that they really do belong together? And can they form a family?

A wonderful read from a new to me author thanks to Tule Publishing. I look forward to reading by her.

This was a second chance romance with a twist. Gage and Faith were good friends in high school. Gage could not leave their small town but Faith could not wait to leave. Now 6 years later they meet again and have a one night stand. That one night stand will forever change both their lives. Now Faith comes back to town to let Gage know she is pregnant and she wants to give the baby up for adoption. Gage wants both the baby and Faith. Will he be able to convince her to give them both a chance? Pick up this book and find out. I promise you will not be able to put it down. This is a terrific story about a second chance at love even though the first chance was over before it had a true time to happen.
Faith Stone finds herself pregnant after a night when she and Gage Granger finally gave into their always and forever simmering desire. There are so many complex emotions at play, especially for Gage. The story really belongs to him and all he is finally forced to face.

Faith and Gage ❤️

I just loved these two. Both have family issues. More Faith than Gage. When she finds herself pregnant after a one night stand with Gage, her high school crush? She thinks giving the baby up for adoption is the only way to make sure the baby has a better life than she did. But surprisingly Gage wants the baby. He wants the whole package. Faith too. Can he convince her that her past doesn’t have to be her future and that they can have a good life together? This was book two in the series. Looking forward to the next one.

Faith had an unhappy childhood. Her Mom left her because her Mom's boyfriends were noticing Faith more than her Mom. Her Mom didn't want the competition so she left Faith to grow up at her grandmothers. Her grandmother kept pointing out how much it cost her to feed, house and clothe Faith but never really showed her the love she needed. She wasn't abused but she couldn't wait to graduate and get out of the house.

Gage was Faith's high school friend and she had a crush on him but never told him. He liked her as well but never told her either because he knew that she was leaving town as soon as she could and he wasn't planning on leaving town.

When she was old enough she did leave town and started her own life, she didn't do great for herself but she managed. She ran into Gage one time in a bar and they had a one night stand which resulted in her getting pregnant. Now she is trying to decide how to handle the baby she is carrying.

A really good book that I think you will enjoy.

This is a second chance romance and the story really got to me.

Both Gage and Faith come from troubled childhood experiences and yet, they have strived hard to become strong, independent individuals. But Faith still struggles with trying to prove that she’s not like her Mom and it’s hard for Gage to convince her that she’s worthy of love and good life.

I love how love and compassion wins the day and together they break the cycle of brokeness.

Although this is the second book in the series and I haven’t read the first one, this book can be read as a stand alone. A thread that runs through this series is the mystery of how Gage’s Dad lands in hospital. This perhaps will be revealed in Book #3 which I’m looking forward to it.

A second chance romance. Gage and Faith both are broken from their troubled childhoods. She's the one he had to let go years before and now that she's back he's going to fight for her to give him a chance. Only she's not going to make it easy. Overall just an okay story. For me it was hard to warm up to the characters. Especially Faith. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC from Tule Publishing.

Exhilarating

Gage and Faith went to high-school together. She couldn't wait to leave their small town. 6 years later they meet by chance in a bar, she asks him to take her to his hotel, she's always loved him. He wakes I'm the morning and she's gone, no way to contact her. This story tells of her trip back into town, and how quickly their lives change when she asks to talk to him. Such a good story, lots of feels, we'll written.

Great book

Loved it. The story flowed so well. The thoughts and fears from the way a person I'd brought up can change only if the person wants them too. In this book more than one person needed to change there thought process.
