The Most Have Guide You Need

This is the latest edition of the excellent Missing Manual series from author David Pogue. This series is always on my must list. Many people don't really know how to use their phones or computers besides basic functions. The Missing Manual series is an excellent guide to hidden, little known features as well as explaining any changes, additions or things that were removed. Written in plain English with beautiful full color photos of the various screens and menus, this book takes you to power level. It makes things, faster, easier and more fun to do things on your iPhone. Many features are not easily found and will only be discovered with a guide or a subscription to MacWorld or Maclife. You can amaze your family and friends with your new found knowledge. I am always being asked to help someone because they don't know how to use a feature, software or setting on their phones. I'm able to help because of the excellent information found in the Missing Manual books. Grab a copy for your phone, computer or software you regularly use. The tips and tricks will save you time and money. It is also entertaining because the author is naturally funny, something not ordinarily found in computer books. I see many people become frustrated with their device because they won't take the time to learn how to use it. Yes, you can go to the Apple Store, but I would rather do things myself. This book ensures the knowledge to do so.

I got a new phone so took the opportunity to read a book on it. I learned a number of things that apply to both the new phone and also some that apply to my existing iPad.

Most important was turning it on (side button) and off (side button and volume button). Then I learned I need to buy an adapter if I want to use my headset with the phone.

I learned you can double tap to enlarge part of a web page and that I no longer need a separate QR reader app. I thought the hidden trackpad (hold space) was really cool. I also learned that you can draw in an iMessage.

I was also motivated to try swipe typing again. And I re-learned to press the side button to send a call straight to voicemail.

In humor, I enjoyed reading the two pages of siri responses.

Thorough and very useful. I have had an IPhone for quite some time and yet I learned a lot of new information. Sometimes the iPhone isn’t intuitive and this book helps reveal some of the hidden benefits. Highly recommended!

Excellent coverage, organization and writing. Comprehensive. Also covers through iOS 10 (hopefully will be updated as iOS is). Recommended for a comprehensive knowledge of every aspect of iPhone.
