Three years ago I ran away from Richland Heights High. Three years later, I'm back, trying to hang on to the secret that ruined my life. But Jordan Hawthorne is determined to make it difficult. He makes me want him and hate him at the same time. And if he learns who I really am, my plan to destroy him will fall to pieces.
But there are others. Others with secrets that need to get out. Keeping these secrets can build lives and destroy them.
Which will it do to me?
This is book two of The Richland Heights High series. It contains adult language and adult situations with characters that are 17+. It also contains some sensitive scenes. There are bullies, bad boys, heroines and heroes. This series is a mix of Riverdale, Pretty Little Liars and Mean Girls, with a touch of Sons of Anarchy. It is set in the fictional town of Richland where The No Regrets Ink series is also located. You can see overlapping locations and characters throughout these books. At the end of Book #1, Lawson's cover was almost blown when her ex-best friend Annie saw her at Richland Heights for the first time in three years, but of course, back then she was Katie. Now three years later, she is ready to get her revenge on Jordan - the guy who humiliated her three years ago with a hump and dump and then spread rumors around the school. She has a plan in place but what happens when she is discovered and Jordan catches on her true identity. Is her plan ruined before it has even started? Or has Lawson got something else up her sleeve especially when she learns that she is not the only that has been humped and dumped by Jordan and that she may be able to create an army against him starting with his ex-girlfriend Skylar? I have decided to put this series as a YA as it is very tame compared to all the other bully romances I have read. I am hoping that the next book, when published, will have a bit more shazam as this still seems very much setting the scene and premises for a final showdown. If you are wanting a light bully romance and something easy to read and not too triggering, then check out Adele Niles's Richland Heights High Series today.
Secrets is book two in the ‘’Richland heights high’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. This book is a continuation of Lawson’s story. Lawson is adjusting to being back at Richland heights high. She is still hiding her true identity and is determined to get revenge on Jordan. I really like Titus, I want more of him. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
It's getting better. I hate that Lawson cave in so quickly to Jordan instead I'd being with Titus. I also wish this wasn't so short. This has the potential to be a great series if it wasn't so short
This book ends on a cliffhanger and there is no book 3 or mention of there being one. Seriously disappointed, so cannot recommended this book. Story had promise but no resolution.
This book made almost no sense i thought the first one was just a really long prologue since it was so short but no it was two books of back of back. To back nonsense and then it just ends im so confused fr fr
Two books and still nothing resolved. Both books combined wouldn’t equal one book. Very disappointed that nothing is clear how this book series will move forward
Secrets is the second book in the Richland Heights High series and it picks up where the Promises (originally titled The Hills) leaves off and it continues the story of Lawson, Jordan and Titus. There is still a lot of teenage drama and angst along with secrets, treachery, jealousy and a whole lot more. Lawson is still trying to hide that she is actually Katy but what will happen when it is discovered? She is still determined to get revenge on Jordan for what happened three years ago but it may take longer than she anticipated. After all it has to be total for her to feel vindicated.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Lawson/Katy continues on with her plan to ruin Jordan while trying to resist his advances. Jordan continues doing what Jordan does best...cause problems for everyone. Titus continues to be the bad boy everyone but Lawson thinks he is. Now why would I ever miss leaving high school? Oh yeah, teen drama. Thank goodness Adele finds a way to make it much more interesting than most writers I've encountered.
High school drama in all of its glory. The story wasn't bad, though I would recommend to read the first book before starting this one. I didn't do that. You don't miss much, but I think things would be a little better if I had read The Hills. Also On Goodreads the title of the book is The Furies and not Secrets.
