Super short, as the series promises. It goes beyond the usual fluff and clichés and offers some hard truths: your team won't act cohesively if they're not all suffering the same fate (and most business teams are not set up for this; ie compensation and promotion is usually individualized); unless people are willing to confront issues and name them, have conversations about them in a personal and professional way (not behind your back, no couching in "we should") then they won't be cohesive; unless leaders are willing to transfer some ownership and control to the team, they won't be truly accountable. It cuts all the cutesy examples and case studies out and speaks generically, but not so generically that it feels washed out. There actionable ideas and steps to take: they might be really tough, however, depending on the maturity of the team. But there's some good pieces to mull through and chew on.
Read this for work; it was quick and took only about an hour's worth of time. It offered some Interesting analysis on team accountability and why it might fail to exist. Where it fell short was in the discussion of how to create the accountability of scratch, or on a team that doesn't have any trust.
Excelente libro.
This is a very quick read for leaders and aspiring leaders. While the content in the book may not seem to very new concepts, it provides a clear picture for why teams are dysfunctional and how teams can transition. I am excited to share the book with the members on my team.
Given to me by my boss at work because we have a dysfunctional management team. This wasn't the best self help book I've ever read, I prefer Managing Oneself and Time Warrior, the best two books about work ethics.
Summary of this book: dont talk shit behind each others back and be accountable.
A quick and straight to the point book that gives you a good idea on how an accountable team works/behave and how a non-accountable or non-functional team works and behave. It helps you identify working points on your own team.
I really like how this book is a quick read, straight to the point with very helpful and clear pointers on how to get the job done, where most self help books tell you what jobs need to be done but fail to point you on how to do it
I had the pleasure of being introduced to these concepts from Eric in a Vistage presentation. I’m so glad Eric has written it all down. It’s helping me share these concepts with my team.
