Herakles sought his lost love, Megara, across the ages, only to find empty trails and shattered hope. But what he never fathomed was the truth: Megara had become a pawn in his uncle Hades' sinister game, forged into an assassin against her will…
The Greek God of Power has spent eons haunted by a singular mistake from his past. Unknown to him, Megara had struck a desperate bargain ages ago. A pact that promised her salvation if she aided him in ascending to godhood—a path he ultimately chose over her.
Millennia later, Herakles comes face to face with the specter of his obsession. Megara, now an embodiment of wrath, harbors a deep-seated rage, not just for the world, but for the one who left her to the clutches of darkness.
But her vengeance is denied. Hades strikes a new deal with them both, uniting them in an unlikely alliance. As they fight to liberate Megara from her tormented existence, secrets buried beneath layers of betrayal begin to unravel, exposing raw wounds and hidden truths.
Can they forge a future from the fragments of their past, or will the darkness they bear tear them apart once and for all? As they both soon learn—some bonds are written in the stars, and some mistakes demand more than mere redemption.
This is a spicy, enemies to lovers, fated mates dark fantasy/ paranormal romance with a groveling hero, a broken heroine, and their final chance to rekindle the love they lost. This series explores mature themes that might not be for everyone, and every book gets darker than the last. Only suitable for readers 18+. Although this book ends in a cliffhanger, this couple's story is resolved, and each book in the series features a brand new couple.

N.Isabella Blanco's Ryze series is fabulous and this newest book is not only dark and brutal, but beautifully written with soul crushing moments!!! The characters Herakles God of power and Megara one of Hades personal assassins are so beautifully flawed and though both have lived their own hell's for thousands of years theirs a strength in both that comes from knowing pain and suffering beyond what most people have endured. Kles had a choice long ago and he has had to live with his betrayal to meg it has left him with guilt and he has searched for her for years, but when Hades king of the underworld sends meg to kill kles it's time for meg to get her revenge for what she has become all because she made a bargain for the man she loved and sacrificed everything for. Blanco is a fabulous writer who's twisted dark imagination takes you on a trip were gods and goddesses enjoy their sick games and destroying all those in their path to power and twisted pleasures. I loved this spin on Hercules story. Can't wait for more from this amazingly talented writer!! This has adult language and Adult themes.

This was my least favorite book of the series so far. Chalk that up to a personal preference thing. I usually like books about Gods and Goddesses, but this one had a somewhat sci-fi(ish) feeling to it I didn't find appealing. I also didn't care for the heroine (Meg) very much. She spent the entire book too bitter and angry, and it made her a very unlikable heroine.
However, the book itself is fantastically well written. Great world building. A well-developed plot. A plethora of side characters that got a little confusing at times, but that were still enjoyable to read about. Surprisingly, this book wasn't very hot, considering Meg is a succubus nymphomaniac, but the three we do get late in the book were suitably spicey. Last, we are left with an open ending that leads into more books (I assume).
SIDE NOTE: Now, there is something I need to talk about. I am not sure if this author has BETA readers, and if she does how they let this get past them, but it is 2019 and using the word "retarded" as in "are you fucking retarded girl?" is derogatory and disgusting. I rarely pay much mind to non PC stuff in fictional books, but this literally stopped me in my tracks in shock. There are about 5000 other words that could have been used to express the same sentiments. I debated on whether I wanted to say anything, but ultimately, I felt that this needed to be addressed.
The epic worldbuilding, the plot, the deliciousness of the characters, the emotions, the subplots, the machinations at work that come from Blanco's beautifully twisted mind wove a story together that completely blew me away!! I've always loved Greek mythology and I'm very familiar with the story of Herakles and the contradicting factoids that have inspired so much of our literature and movies, so I was more than a little bit excited to see this author's take on such a legend. She not only brought him spectacularly to life, she depicted his every strength, triumph, weakness, flaw and imperfection with the right amount of humanity (although he's a god) and made him into a character I couldn't help but fall in love with. Herakles was fighting a battle on multiple fronts: he's got two gods fighting for dominance inside of him and he's got a shrew of a first love hating him with every breath he takes. Tasked with taking out the very beings he already sent to Hades, he's got his hands full trying to stay alive while his partner, his love, his everything, wants to kill him every step of the way.
I’ll sacrifice every ounce of my sanity left to free her . . . right before I let her end me once and for all.
Despite how much I utterly disliked Meg and her theatrics when it came to how she felt towards Kles, his character alone sold this story for me. He was the end all to be all and I was his willing slave! Where Kles was everything macho and masculine and methodical and mouthwathering, Meg came across as a shrew, a harridan, a harpy, and yet she was hot AF! She annoyed the heck out of me because her vitriol took up way too much of this story, but I found myself living for every moment of the interaction between these characters. I swear, Blanco knows just how to get me to sweat the small details and there was plenty to gobble up in this go-round. I didn't get why Kles was completely to blame for Meg's circumstances and I'm not down with people not owning up to their responsibilities or the part they play in their own destruction, but it made for some great entertainment.
Honestly, as a standalone and for those who haven't read any of these books before, this is a thrilling introduction to the Ryze series. However, I would still recommend reading the rest of the series to get a complete grasp of everything that was going on. That's just my opinion though. I'm absolutely in love with this world and its characters and I encourage everyone to learn more about them. Oh what a tangled web Blanco weaves!!
WOW! This story hooked me right from the start and didn't let go until I was dropped onto the last page. I was mesmerized by N. Isabelle Blanco's beautiful storytelling. Every single word was pure poetry. I wanted to drink it all up and get drunk from it. Her writing style is one I look forward to devouring in the near future! This book had it all: epic love, tragedy, and a bit of dark horror. Each time we came to a new scene, Blanco magically created a mental picture in which I felt as though I were there...in some cases, that was a bit frightening as her monsters were quite horrifying! I loved all of the mythological gods in the book, even the bizarre, creepy ones. Kles and Meg were a powerful and deliciously hot couple that I rooted for from the get-go. If you love enemies-to-lovers tropes filled with action and burning chemistry, you will love this one! My favorite character of them all was Hades. So dark and delicious and meddling in everyone's lives...I can't wait to find out what he's up to! This third story in the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection did not disappoint! Five SEXY SACRIFICE Stars!
A Dark and sinister fairytale of Herakles and Megara. A clever twist on Hercules God of I am not typically into Fantasy or mythology novels but the author did a great job of spinning this story into a entertaining and sexy read.
Sacrifice is a story of vengeance, passion, love and second chances. Some of the content was a little confusing at times and I struggled to like Meg, she was too over the top and bossy for me. Overall I really enjoyed this retake and look forward to more in this series.
Whilst this is nominally set in the author’s Ryze world, unlike those books it very much read as a stand alone story. It’s more greek mythology than true fairytale but this story is far too good to ever hold a tiny little detail like that against it. Especially since the world building allows even those pretty ignorant of greek mythology (that’s me by the way) to understand who is who and what their history is.
Talking of history, Meg and Kles have it in spades and it’s not the good type. Certainly not after Kles abandoned her for fame, glory and godhood. A move he almost immediately regretted but by then it was far too late. Never once did I begrudge Meg her anger and hatred of Kles, he might not have known just what was going to happen to her but he didn’t choose her either. However not only has he regretted that choice for almost as long as Meg has, the more he learns about what happened to her, the more torn up about it he is.
I loved both these characters though I rather dislike the fates (or should that be author?) who made them endure so much pain, heartache and suffering as they battled the trials set before them.
Despite being very slow burn, the story fairly crackles with heat and the chemistry between this pair. The sexual tension oozes out of every scene and there is just so much action, adventure and story that I, for one, really didn’t miss the reduced ‘bedroom’ action.
This book is ideal for those who love a real action packed fantasy/mythology based romance, a good angry second-chance story, a well written and highly entertaining book. The series has proved to be a fantastic way to discover new authors, I can happily recommend all three books released thus far.
Two thumbs way way up! Sacrifice was a dark and twisted retelling of a well-known tale. I have to say I loved it! let me start with Sacrifice it a double whammy! Not only is it part of The Sinister Fary Tales Collection but it is also 3.5 in Blanco's Ryze Series! Boom! It doesn't get better than this! This story is a standalone but If you are a fan of Greek Mythology. and Dark Paranormal Romance...Blanco is your ONE CLICK author! I'll come back to that. put a pin in it for now.
Sacrifice! Meg and Kles were Amazing Characters! In true Blanco form, we get a Kick*ss female lead! Blanco has the Best Female Characters! Meg is alpha female to the max, a force to be reckoned with. She will not back down and she is a very sexual being. Meg has thousands of years of pent up anger and aggression to work out. Her anger drove her and she will not forget how easily she was cast aside by someone she loved. All that malice for Kles, unbeknownst to him, Meg suffered horrible, unthinkable things for him breaking a promise. Kles, is not what anyone is prepared for. Sexy, check, sweet, check, Powerful and deadly, check check! A promise, a deal, Immortal Gods, Succubi, fate, all the good stuff we love to devour. For years Kles has mourned the mortal he fell in with and walked away from, wishing to be reunited with her on the other side. The watcher is there always watching and plotting (this sent my heart into overdrive). 2500 years ago Meg was saved, and she has been waiting/searching for Kles to end him. This book was beyond words! I loved the raw passionate rage Meg gives off with that underlining of something greater, something stronger. And Kles, he has absolute Loved for Meg and is willing to Die by her hand to save her. Gah! I can never get enough of Blanco's characters! The dark and twisted life Meg has lived, it was thrilling to have Kles avenge her. These bloody battles are intense and exciting! The whole book is really, never do you get lost in the detail, everything flows smoothly and expertly! The evil in this book is grotesque and not for the faint of heart.
Now, let us pull that pin out. I'm a HUGE Ryze Fan! Once again, if you are fan of the dark and twisted, if you are intrigued by Greek Mythology, if you enjoy the paranormal, and If you secretly crave the deliciously dirty...Ryze Baby, Ryze is what you are missing in your little black heart! Strong, take no crap women, and idiotic, sexy, alpha males that learn valuable lessons. Blanco gives us our Ryze fix with Sacrifice! We get a glimpse of Hades and little pieces of the puzzle coming to light. And our Watcher, man she is literally the scariest MOFO in this series! She is a very busy Goddes that watcher of destinies, I just got all kinds of excited see her throughout this book, mingling, here and there! Meg is definitely a part of the bigger picture and Kles as well, I'm even more excited for the fourth book in the Ryze series now! Kles was an interesting character because he isn't, caught up or in the mix of "God" things from Ryze so getting to experience this story with that insider info was very addictive. I loved how everything came together and ended, I have no idea what I'm going to do with myself now. I definitely have one heckkk of a Ryze hangover! And Blanco that Shore scene with the Helmet.... Fire!!!!! I received an Arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first book by this author, and I sure as shit was not expecting what I got. I am loving this series so far... authors and the retellings and I loved this one. Ar first, I struggled but it wasn't long until I was neck-deep in the plot and flipping pages to figure out where the author was going with this.
This is no fairytale,... It's dark and it's brutal and it had my mind reeling and my heart pounding hard.
This retelling is possibly the darkest, most intense one yet, and holy fucking shit, I was addicted. We all know the story of Hercules, well this author just mastered that, with a twist.
Hercules is known for his strength and for being the hero of all heroes, But what no one else seems to realize is that the only reason that happens is that Megara sacrifice the ultimate sacrifice, her soul and once all was done and dusted, she was left behind to rot. She was left to be beaten, violated, and broken to a million pieces and eventually mutated. And now? After nearly three millennia, and losing track of him, she has finally found him and she has a vengeance... She will kill him if it's the last thing she does. He got the glory for what she had done, everything she sacrifice, and she got hell. PURE HELL, and now it's his time to pay.
Will Meg be able to find where her soul ended up? Or should I say, who it ended up in? Will she be able to get it back and at what cost? Will she be able to kill the man that destroy her every being so long ago? Will she get the revenge she is searching for, what she deserves... Or will the impossible and most unexpected happen?
You will have to read to find out... and holy shit, you want to read this... My jaw is still on the ground. I was in a daze after finishing this book, still piecing together what I read exactly.
This book is in a league of its own, in my opinion. I didn't expect what I got. It was so much better than I expected. The author threw so many unexpected twists that had me gasping and my head spinning all the way through the book.
I could sit and give a detailed, insanely intense report on this book, but I won't. You need to go into this blind... I mean blind, because what you are about to get, sure as shit isn't what you will be expecting.
This book consumed beyond belief, it had me hanging on every word. Yes, at first I struggled but within a couple of chapters, I was hooked like it was my next fix. The style of writing and the details added into this masterpiece was beyond amazing. This author knows how to tell a dark retelling and she did a phenomenal job with this one!
N Isabelle Blanco took the greek mythology legend of Herakles and Megara and then put insane twists in the story. And Sacrifice was born. It is the hedonistic, dark, primal and instinctual world that has been created by the author. This story was complicated with layers of tragedy, passion, action and suspense. I am simply awed by her writing.
I am not a paranaormal or fantasy lover. I usually feel disconnected from the characters and their feelings. But the epic story of Herakles and Megara grabbed my heart and soul from the very beginning. Megara made a deal with devil to help Herakles be successful in his mission to become a God. And he left her in mortal world. Megara was used, abused, tortured and broken beyond saving. Almost. But Hades changed her to another being. A lethal and immortal assassin with doomed existence. A being feeding on sex and soul. And she only wants revenge. And she was given the chance. The only condition is she has to kill The Six with Herakles. But on this brutal, dramatic and epic journey, she can feel the remorse and guilt and pain of Herakles. And all while he is evolving into something else.
My mind went into overdrive and shock way too many times. The mind games in this story is INCREDIBLE. The way the author delves into the persona of Meg and Kles is absoultely brilliant. Everything here is larger than life and so different. The immortal world gripped my attention and I could not stop reading. The love, sex and passion is so overwhelming. And so is the lightning fast storyline progressing with jaw dropping twists and sharp turns. You will be attacked with sensations from every direction. And the ending will make you scream as she taunts us with a new beginning. The characters were very cleverly given modern make overs yet never lost their ancient core. The gory battles gave me such an adrenaline rush along with the inevitable transformation of Megara and Herakles. Meg is a true "goddess" and I bow down to this beautiful toxic heroine. And Kles was given enough broken pieces to make this God of Power vulnerable.
You would not know what will hit you in Sacrifice by N. Isabelle Blanco. Before you even feel it and brace yourself, she will drag you to this enthralling, twisted, dark and deviant world. I am still reeling from all the sensations and emotions.
The Sinister Fairy Tales collection is a series of fairy tales with a dark and sexy twist.
I grew up reading all the fairy tales and watching the Disney movies so to say I'm well versed in the fairy tale department would be an understatement. I have to say though, I only watched Hercules once and Greek Mythology never really interested me. But because I love the dark twist to these novels, so far, I decided to give this one a shot....and I've come to the conclusion.... I'm still not a Greek mythology fan. But N. Isabelle Blanco had me a smidgen closer on wanting to learn more about the subject.
When I first started Sacrifice I immediately felt the sinister vibes.... and I loved it! I love when a dark romance starts off on an extremely dark note. It sets up the novel perfectly and forces you to expect the unexpected. N. Isabelle Blanco didn't disappoint when it comes to grasping my attention. I love the way this author tells a story; Gritty, dark, and unpredictable.
Overall, I enjoyed the story line, but I feel I would have gotten more from this novel if I knew more about Greek Mythology. However, if you are one that loves Hercules and is looking for a dangerously dark retelling, I highly recommend you pick up this novel and give it a read! ________________
This story hooked me after the first chapter! Absolutely a MUST READ. You will find yourself lost in the Greek love story of Kles and Meg. The tumultuous affair will bring you to your knees. Make sure you clear your calendar because you will want to read this in one setting.
This is my first read from Ms. Blanco. But I plan to look up her back log to see what other gems I am missing.
I have to say I did not read the first two books that go with this book, but I did not feel like I was missing anything. I read this book because it is part of the Sinister Fairytale Collection.
Sacrifice is all about the word. There is always something to sacrifice, and in this book that something is mostly love. Sacrifice is NOT a romantic love story where you will find happy ever after or two characters that are totally in love. Meg and Kles will fight, argue, almost kill each other, and still come back to one another the are fantastic characters, but they are not your typical set of characters that you usually read. I am infatuated with this story and will continue with this series! I am so happy to have found this series and will back read this one!
I don't know what to think about this book, it is not a particularly good one. The language really bothered me, and Meg and Kles just annoyed me. I honestly couldn't feel this legendary "chemistry" between the two of them. I was a little disappointed by that ending though. Just meh is a very accurate description of what this book makes me feel.
When I signed up to review Sacrifice I had no clue what the book would be about, I just said yes to all of the collection because there were two authors I #fangirl participating in it and I’m always down with finding new authors to stal---follow *cough* So, when the synopsis was finally released I was all kinds of excited because I am a huge Greek mythology junkie and couldn’t wait to experience the darker side to the Herakles aka Hercules myth (especially since I had the chant of “Hercules! Hercules!” from the cartoon running through my head) and I have to say, I enjoyed this twisted side of the Hercules myth. It kept up the theme of the Gods always messing with the lives of, well, everyone and showed just how thin that line between love and hate really are.
Meg and Kles (Herakles/Hercules). I felt for both of them. Meg a little more than Kles, for obvious reasons, but they were both put through the wringer by a bunch of egomaniacs and have paid for it many times over. I loved Meg’s strength and Kles’ determination to right the wrong he committed. Their second chance journey is all kinds of bloody, smexy and frustrating as all get out, but it was also fun because despite the all the pain and heartache, they were perfect for each other.
This is my first read by the author and I really enjoyed it. There were spots that were a bit slow for me, but overall it was a great read. I loved how she blended the ancient world with the new world seamlessly and made it feel possible that the Gods could be walking the earth to this day. This is a dark romance, so there are triggers GALORE. As for the supporting cast of characters, Hades definitely tops the list of fav’s ~ not that it comes as a surprise, he is the ruler of the Underworld after all ~ but Kles’ crew were a lot of fun and I’d love to spend more time with all of them. So, if you have a thing for Greek/Roman mythology and the dark and twisted side of romance, then this is a must click for you!

Megara's love left her and became a god. What did Megara get? Tortured and changed. Into what?
Well, someone seeking revenge for one. And when Herakles appears in her life again, she's determined to have it, at any cost. But she doesn't just despise him and want vengeance. No, she loves him, too, and that love might be a problem for her.
I have to admit that I'm not exactly up on my mythology, so a lot of the backbone of this was beyond me. But I did see the basics of this dark retelling - vengeance, desire, love and hate, second chances. I think N. Isabelle Blanco truly has a way with words, because the world she's created is fascinating. It's not my favorite story in the Sinister Fairy Tales collection, but it's nonetheless truly entertaining, seriously sexy, and intriguing.

I am enjoying this series of standalone stories immensely! This is the third book of the sinister fairytales collection to be released and a new to me author. In this story, we receive a reimaging of the mythical relationship between Herakles/Hercules and Meg/Megara. Going in I knew the story that we received from the Disney animated movie and the vague retellings of Hercules from movies. I have never dug into the Greek mythology of the characters which could be why it took me a little bit of time to get into the story. I can say that once I got into the story I was completely drawn into the twisted, crazy, darkness that was a romance between Herakles and Megara.

A fantastic read that will grip your imagination right from the start!
I absolutely loved this book it was everything I wanted it to be and more!!
Brilliantly written with fantastic characters and a storyline that grips you from beginning to end, and world building that is just perfection I can't recommend this book enough! Definitely a must read.
I reread this in order to read the extended chapters that would tie this book fully into the Ryze series. These chapters really enhanced the book and blended well with the world-building of it. I appreciated that. It gives me an idea of what is to come with Ryze 4. This new version of this story has me jonesing for more of this world. There is a reason that it is my favorite series.
The moment this baby dropped on my kindle I stopped what I was doing. The television was turned off, I logged out of all social media, ignored my son (he is an adult so don't think less of me), and just grabbed the bottle of wine and sat it down next to me so that I wouldn't have to get up because I KNEW that all real-world or things that needed me to adult would be out the window. I was right for having done this because this book is EVERYTHING.
I had the pleasure of reading a large chunk of this in Beta but that didn't stop me from starting at the beginning and reading it as if it was new. The formatting is stunning, and the book was even better than I was expecting even though I had read parts of it. For anyone that has not beta read, I cannot express how hard it is to only get parts at a time. I swear, this author is the devil and I was at the crossroads about to promise her my eternal soul (and my son-- although to be fair he loves her more than he loves me so that was a sacrifice that I was willing to make) for her to give me this book in its entirety. On the plus side of reading this in snippets, it gave me the chance to see how this author goes about the process, and to say that I was in awe of her mind would be an understatement of epic proportions.
This powerful couple has a history. I felt for both of them. Kles for his guilt and trying to come to grips with what was slowly taking over him. Meg, for the horrors that she went through and for the betrayal that she felt. There was a lot of crap that they went through due to the actions of others. It made me posit whether if the Gods were in fact real if they would have deserved the reverence that was bestowed on them. It feels like the ones that should have been good were, in fact, bad and that the ones that were considered bad were only that way because of the ministrations of the "good" ones. This is yet, another reason that this author knocks me on my derrière because she makes me think, truly THINK.
From the very first book of this series to this one I have been in awe of the world-building and blending of Gods and Goddesses in the modern world. Time is not how it is felt in the real world. Things are happening that have an almost Butterfly effect. There is a certain pattern or plan that is unfolding and just like every season has a reason so too do the characters in this book. Some of the characters we have seen with books of their own, others, just as side characters who have yet to have their purpose uncovered or planned, and some like Kles and Meg that are just now coming into play but that still have such pivotal roles in the future. As I said, I am in awe that this series does what it does. I am not sure if the author had always intended to write the characters of Meg and Kles, or if they were just written to be a part of the Sinister Fairy Tales collection and she manipulated them into the story to kill two birds with one stone. I cannot imagine them NOT being a part of this series now that I have read it but if she just did work them into the timeline then that makes me even more awestruck than I was.
Watching these two characters navigate through everything in order to find their truth, possible redemption, and possible forgiveness/acceptance was raw and believable. The dialogue, banter, hatred, desire, and the connection was intense and worth it. Sweet lord, the anticipation leading up to the character's steamy moments (which were FIRE) made the story even more enticing. Add in suspense, action, mind games from a certain God, and appearances from a few other characters made this another 5 star read. It paved the way for the next book to continue and I cannot wait to see what happens next. I did not want this story to end, not that I ever do, and will leave me thinking of possible theories for months to come as I try and figure out the endgame. Well Done.
This was the next book in the Sinister Fairy Tales. It is also part of Ms. Blanco's Ryze series. I have never read the Ryze series and while I felt like there was more on the outsides of this story, I didn't feel like I was missing anything.
This was less fairy-tale as it was a take on mythology with Gods and Goddesses. This is the story of Herakles and Megara. Herakles has believed for a long, long time that he made the wrong choice and left his Meg behind. He is about to find out that his life has been nothing but a carefully laid out plan full of deceit and twisted dark corners.
Meg is not what she once was, mainly now she is an assassin and unable to complete her latest job because deep down she still has feelings for Herakles or at least something that is keeping her from doing her job. This failure leads these two characters to go on an impossible mission filled with old mythological and more fight than they might be up for.
This was a dark, fast-paced, twisted tale. Mythology with high-tech and a modern edge and a second-chance that you are not sure will ever work out. Meg holds a grudge like no other and while Herakles wants to make everything right, even his life isn't enough of penance for her. But regardless of how much she wants to hate him, the chemistry they have is through the roof. The story was complicated and made you pay attention because it was like a puzzle that was getting pieced together in a crazy fashion.
Certainly an interesting addition to this series and I can't wait for more.
What an absolute fantastic addition to the Sinister Fairytale Collect Sacrifice is! Blanco did magic with this story!
I'm pretty sure not everyone could turn Herakles and Megara into the dark masterpiece that Blanco does. I mean she delivered a book that had me turning page after page needing more. I couldn't put down this twisted book until I hit the last word!
This book would not have been as good as it was if it were not for Blanco's ability to write. This book was so well written. I think Sacrifice is my favorite of the series yet. I mean when I think fairytales I don't think anything like what Blanco delivered. She took the sinister and dark to an entire different level and I loved every second of it.
I'm not a huge fan of Greek mythology, but I'd be willing to change my mind if Blanco put her twist on some more of it!
All the stars for Blanco and Sacrifice! I can't wait to see what comes next in this collection! I'm excited what the next author gives us. Blanco has really set high shoes to fill!
I will not even begin to give an overview of this story because it NEEDS to be read. This is a perfect example of this authors stories and her brilliance at darkness. It is not a traditional HEA story, this is a re-telling of a classic story and it is classic for a reason. This author not only re-tells is but ultimately up lifts the story to another level entirely. I was addicted from the first page and the characters jumped off the page. The darkness was done so well that I was enthralled with the story and hoping for the outcome. I love and hated the story in equal mass (that being a good thing for me in a dark story).
This is a story that needs to be devoured so please make sure you have time and are not interrupted! You will not want to put this story down. It is more than I could have expected, it is so very good! I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review. I also felt the need to re-read this story (that doesn’t happen to me often) so I read it again through KU.
Sacrifice is the third of the Sinister Fairy Tale Collection as well as part of the author's Ryze series. This is a second-chance romance featuring Herakles and Megara. Both have been tortured in their own way. One is now remorseful while the other is full of hatred. Together they embark on this journey that is full of suspense and lots of twists and turns that made this story hard to put down. There were lots of mindf*cking going on for the characters as well as the reader. This story is a dark retelling of Greek mythology and the author did an AMAZING job blending the original stories with her own ideas. My only regret is that I didn't read the previous books in her series. I don't feel as though I missed out on Herakles and Megara's story but I feel as though there is this bigger picture that blends the stories together. I loved the author's writing and even though this is my first book by her, it definitely won't be my last!
What can I say, this beautiful author never disappoints me. Her books are phenomenal and this one is awesome.
Sacrifice is a story of the Greek legend Herakles & Megara with darkness and twists. You can feel the story's powerful emotions of vengeance, love, and there is so much passion. Lastly a possible second chance between these two lovers.
If you love paranormal, mythology and some hot and steamy erotica...this a book for you! The book was well written, with great world building! The main characters and the supporting characters are developed fully or enough for their part in the story!
Don't get me wrong, I love those series so much. Every time a new book comes out I shake with excitement to read it. But this book...this book broke me. Literally. It was too much for my sanity and honestly, it made me cry. Cry for Megara. She's been through so much and I don't blame her for wanting to have revenge on those who hurt her. I do love that we get to see other characters from previous books and still can't wait to read the next one. But my heart was heavy and broken. Because of that in the end I couldn't feel the love between Meg and Herakles. It was too much, too damn much. I am sorry that I can't give a higher rating on the book, but like I said...My heart is permanently broken for Megara.
I received an ARC from Grey's Promo and this is my voluntary review.
I am obsessed with Greek mythology so even though this is different anything that deals with mythology I’m all about it so the fact that Herakles and Megara's story was right up my alley didn’t surprise and I loved that Megs anger radiated off the pages
