DIGGERSAURS EXPLORE is a delightful sequel to the book taking the toddler world by storm! Whether you have a little one who loves construction vehicles or dinosaurs, diggersaurs are a charming expansion of these concepts into a cohesive story. In this book, the diggersaurs that we met in the first book are going exploring. They hope that they will find gold or maybe something old. Along the way, they encounter challenges that the diggersaurs use their special skills to solve (for instance, huge grassy bumps that the mowersaurus mows while the rollersaurus rolls them flat).
What I loved: Everything about this book is truly delightful! Each page features brightly colored full-page illustrations that have high appeal for young readers, especially with the accompanying rhyming text. Each diggersaur also has its own sound that little ones will love to imitate (for instance, the whirrr of the drillersaurus). There is also a bonus story in tiny letters with the people who accompany the diggersaurs on their adventure. My toddler is a particular fan of some of the things they say along the way and loves to point them out, like a small seek-and-find on each page. There's also an actual seek-and-find in the hidden treasure throughout the book, which is shown in full at the end of the book.
The story itself here is really great! There are themes of teamwork as the diggersaurs work together to move forward, calmly overcoming obstacles as the diggersaurs come up with solutions to each one that they encounter, helping others as they assist the golden diversaurus (eg, a submarine) who was buried in the sand, and following a serious of steps as the diggersaurs work to get to the beach. All of these themes are perfect for young readers.
The text is also large and easy to read for adults who will read this story aloud. The text-to-picture ratio is perfect for even the youngest readers as pages can turn quickly. The people dialogue and hidden treasures add some fun complexity for older picture book readers. This could really appeal to a wide age range for these reasons and can capture attention for many, many reads.
Final verdict: Delightful and with great themes, DIGGERSAURS EXPLORE is a fantastic pick for young readers. Adventure, action, and plenty of colorful images make this an easy win and a series worth following!

Taking a break from their construction work, the Diggersaurs--a combination of dinosaurs and construction trucks--set off on an adventure to find treasure. Although they face plenty of physical obstacles, they never let it set them back, and each time something threatens their ability to move forward, one of the Diggersaurs steps up and solves the problem, crushing, pushing, scraping, and breaking their way through. Young readers will enjoy looking for hidden treasure in the various pages and love what the Diggersaurs find in the end. As for me, I enjoyed the wonderfully expressive words the author has enlisted to demonstrate what those Diggersaurs are doing. The lively illustrations and text give personalities to each of those busy and determined Diggersaurs, making this one a sure bet for lovers of trucks and a fondness for dinosaurs. The idea of this hybrid is a pretty clever one, and this picture book builds on the success of the previous book introducing the Diggersaurs.

Wonderful fun read-aloud.
Have read this one a lot to my preschoolers (3-5 years) and each time we read it we add more actions and sound effects to the retelling. It has almost become a movement session in its own right!
Appeals to a wide range of preschoolers and also captures a few who prefer stories about dinosaurs and machines over people.
Love this book. Excited to keep developing the actions with the children into a music and movement session.
Fantastic illustrations and brilliant gritty language to give a real sense of these big monster machines. Undoubtedly a favourite for a long while to come.

Michael Whaite is back with a sequel to Diggersaurs called Diggersaurs Explore. Waite has merged young readers love of dinosaurs with heavy duty machinery. This time the Diggersaurs go in search of hidden treasure (gold treasures are cleverly embedded for readers to spot on each page.) Great use of vocabulary both creative words and bolded action and sound words.

This book will also be fun to do in storytime. It involves all sorts of construction equipment and dinosaurs. It's a rhyming book which is a favorite of mine =D It also talks about teamwork!
when doing a lap read of this book, there are two little itty bitty people throughout the story....also on their quest for treasure. It's fun to observe!

A fun read combining 2 favorite things of young boys: dinosaurs and construction vehicles.
The text is rhymed but sometimes it felt a bit tricky to get it. Also, the extra lines on the page were sometimes confusing and breaking the flow of the story.
Overall though, it was very enjoyable.

This is an enjoyable and delightful rhyming story. Dinosaur construction trucks dig and explore for treasure, along with two human explorers. The illustrations are beautiful and entertaining with treasures hidden for the reader to find.

I might have to rate this higher given how much my almost-3-year-old is into this - I'm sure he'd give it a 5. It's cute, not too annoying, colorful, and better than Dinotrux. Perfect for my toddler.

Some absolute maniac on tiktok recommended this book in a video about "books you can read over and over with your toddler that adults will actually enjoy" and like ... lol. Not quite. But this book knows exactly what it is and what it wants to be and it does those things very well!

Two things that so many little children love best-dinosaurs and trucks-in one! Each diggersaur does a special job while accompanied by two children. Together they find treasure and have a great adventure. Reminiscent of the show dinotrux and this would probably appeal to other fans of the show.

A silly story of construction equipment "dinosaurs". The characters have names like "Dumpersaurus" and "Stackersaurus". They are headed to the beach to hunt for buried treasure but they have to each use their unique functions to clear the path.
Sure to be a storytime hit.

Big hit with my son. Good for fans of both construction vehicles and dinosaurs. Can be read normally or in a singsong voice.
