Making It #2

A sexy, smoldering romantic comedy from international best-selling author, Christina Ross.

After years of struggling in New York City, I’m on the verge of making it big in my career…until he enters my life, and then all bets are off.

‘He’ would be Hunter Steele, the ridiculously hot showrunner of a popular reality show called The Terrible Teens.

My name is Julia Jacobs, and on the very day I’m promoted to become an assistant agent at the talent agency CAA, I sign Pepper Winters, a billionaire’s daughter with a massive social media following who wants to be on the next season of Hunter’s ultra-toxic reality show.

No. Matter. What.

Trouble is, the moment Pepper and I meet with Hunter to discuss bringing her on the show, I can’t keep my eyes off him. He’s tall, dark, handsome, and has something in his jeans that looks like a damned anaconda.

In other words, he’s exactly the type of man I don’t need to be distracted by right now. After all, I have a limited amount of time to prove myself to CAA. If I do? I’ll be promoted to associate agent. And if I don’t? I’ll be out of a job altogether.

But with Hunter coming on to me, how in the hell am I supposed to focus on my job? At first, I try my best to resist him, but after a disastrous breakup, I’ve been single for four years, and a girl has her needs. As the weeks pass and we come to know one another better, my guard starts to drop. Should I give Hunter a chance? Or should I let him go forever when I learn about his playboy past…?

I’ve been burned once. I won’t be burned again. And as much as I want to believe in Hunter when he tells me he’s moved beyond his loose reputation of bedding too many women to count, I now have to wonder if I can trust him.

And if I dare to do so, will he and I have a chance to make it…?

With Christina Ross' gift for delivering romance, humor, wit, and characters you'll love and never forget, Making It will leave readers swooning until the last page is turned.

I'm a huge Christina Ross fan and this book proves exactly why! From the very first page I was drawn to the story and this story definitely did not disappoint! Julia was a woman on a mission working her way up to her dream job and nothing was getting in her way, until...........Hunter Steele. Hunter was a reformed manwhore whose sole focus was his career until one woman changed his views........ Julia Jacobs. Hunter and Julia tried to ignore the chemistry exploding between them but how can you stop what's inevitable? I LOVED everything about this read the laugh out loud moments, the scorching hot chemistry and the swoon-worthy sentiments that will leave you begging for more.

Ms. Christina like always, rocks the world when it comes to her books. Character Julia gets the promotion as an assistant talent agent she has been wanting since starting CAA. Her first client, Pepper, is a legit terrible teen, which happens to be the name of the television show she wants to be on; created by one Hunter Steele. Hunter is extraordinarily kind, gentle and patient with Julia. They fall in love, Pepper is a train wreck in the most awesomest, adolescent Blackwell kind of way. Speaking of...no Blackwell isn't in this but our favorite Latina fireball makes a guest appearance and Tootie..ya we remember her and Addy.
This story has your giggles, your awww moments, your "dang, no she didn't just do that" moments and so much more. Good read? How about the most epic read for 2019!!!

Oh Geez! I LOVE this book. It is a super-fast read that I literally could not put down once I started. It has a little bit of everything from seriously hilarious interactions to true heartache with super well written characters. This story is very different than the Annihilate Me series but just as awesome (with the occasional appearance of some of our favorite characters). Christina is one of my favorite authors and she does not disappoint in this book. I highly recommend this book!!

I got to read this as an ARC to read before it's released. I am so glad to have read it early it's not a book you want to have to wait to read. This book is so wonderful it has the drama, the heartache, the love and everything else you want in a book. If you are lucky enough to read this you will not be disappointed at all. I love your work and can't wait to read more. This was about real life struggles to balance love and life and all that comes with it and it was beautifully written.

Julia💘Hunter! Fun & Enjoyable RomCom! Great Audible Listen🎧

Making It
The Making It Series - A Romantic Comedy
By: Christina Ross
Narrated by: Amanda Stribling

I really enjoyed this book, it is well written and well told with interesting storylines that captivated me from start to end. The characters are complex and well developed. I really liked Julia, the lead female, she is smart and driven to advance herself in her career. She was recently promoted to assistant agent for one of the top talent agencies. She lands a huge contract for her first client, Pepper, a teenage social media sensation. She is set to star in a teenage reality television show run by Hunter Steele. Hunter is also looking to make a name for himself in the industry. He takes an immediate liking to Julia, but she has heard rumors of his player tendencies and does not want to get involved. I liked how he pursued her, not giving up and convincing her that he is not who he used to be. Christina Ross created a gem of a RomCom here, it was well plotted and played out nicely, from the getting to know you phase to the romance, as well as the reality show and their own careers. There is never a dull moment, plenty of drama, some angst, twists, some fun moments as well as sweet ones. I have to mention a bit more about Pepper, she was a character and a half, rambunctious at times but always telling it like it is. She is 14 going on 20, wise beyond her years. Julia was great with her, in the end we learn what Pepper’s deal is and why she is how she is. Thank you for this great story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

I listened to the Audible edition narrated by the talented Amanda Stribling. She brings these characters to life, give each their own voice and personality. She put a lot of heart in to her performance, you can hear the characters emotions as well as the drama of the story. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen.

This is a difficult review for me to write. I am a big fan of Christina Ross. I devoured the Annihilate Me series and she is usually a one click author for me. So I was thrilled to get an opportunity to preview and review Making It. Unfortunately this book just did not do it for me.

Making It had all the hallmarks of a Christina Ross story; set in New York, a strong, smart, independent, professional woman and of course, fashion! There are even a few cameos from some of our favorite Annihilate Me characters (although you do not need to have read that series to read this book at all).

I liked Julia and Hunter but I felt like their romance was completely overshadowed by Pepper and the whole reality show thing. There was way too much of Pepper and not enough Julia/Hunter. Plus, the idea of a reality show staring over-privileged, under aged girls who talk and act like thirty-somethings just seemed totally off. I was actually quite disturbed by some of their behavior and their conversations even if they attempted to “redeem” themselves in the end. Since I don’t watch reality TV, perhaps this is how people really behave and I just don’t realize it! But even if that’s the case, the reality TV show concept took over the story too much. The book is billed as a rom-com, and it did not read that way because the romance between Julia and Hunter took a back seat to Pepper.

The writing style seemed off to me as well. While it has been a while since I have read Annihilate Me, but I remember being totally sucked in to the story, the romance and the smart, quick, funny dialogue. There were many times in Making It that I felt the need to skip over long, repetitive monologues with confusing vocabulary. It didn’t feel like Christina’s normal works.

The book isn’t a total loss. There’s a nice love story in there if you can get past everything else that is going on.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

“Making It” by Christina Ross, is an amazing story that occurs after “Faking It”, sharing some of the characters, but it is truly it’s own story. We get to revisit Siena and Austin, and favorites from other books, Epifania for example. But again, this is it’s own book and those character just enrich it. OK, so on to this story. I laughed, I cried, I couldn’t put it down. I truly loved this book and because it is so well written, I felt like I personally knew the characters and by the end, some of them felt like they could be my friends too.

This story revolves around Julia Jacobs, a newly promoted assistant agent at the talent agency, CAA, her first client, Pepper Williams, a 14 year old social media star, who is also a billionaire’s daughter with ATTITUDE, who wants to be on TV and Hunter Steele, the showrunner and the man who can make that happen.

Pepper wants to be on a reality series titled “The Terrible Teens” and trust me, you know she will fit right in. To do this though, Julia and Pepper first need to meet with Hunter Steele, and convince him that Pepper will drive up the ratings of his show. Move forward to the meeting and we see that Hunter is more than the showrunner, he is HOT and seems as taken with Julia as she is with him. But Julia and Hunter each have pasts that color their views of relationships and of course, business must come first, which in this case, is getting Pepper signed and started on the show and that is when things really get interesting. I won’t spoil the story for you, but you won’t be able to put this book down once you start reading it, so be prepared. I can’t wait to see what comes next after this. The book does not end on a cliffhanger, but it does end. I hope Christina’s next book picks up some of this story, so we get to read more about how their lives turned out.

I love Christina Ross and I was so happy when her latest Making It was released. This is a classic romance a sexy rich hero and a strong-willed heroine - oh and dont forget the unruly teens that create the backdrop to this story.

Julia has finally earned her shot in becoming a full fledge talent agent - her first assignment is to represent a 14 year old Pepper who talks like she is 30 but is one of the most influential beauty bloggers on social media. Julia tries to get Pepper on the most sought after reality shows Terrible Teens on television. She first has to impress the sexy showrunner Hunter Steele whos assets are on full display. After the first meeting Hunter knows he must have Pepper on his show and he wants to get to know Julia better, but Julia cant risk her client and more importantly her chance for her dream job. The more time Hunter and Julia spend together the harder it becomes to stay away - especially when she doesnt want to.

I loved Hunter and Julia - Ms Ross introduces her readers to a wonderful duo who are both charismatic, charming and so very good for each other. There are obstacles - Hunter's reputation and Julia's nerves but that is what makes them great. If I had one concern it was with the teens and how they are depicted in the book. I understand that they are spoiled and over the top but I personally found them to be a little much but that being said they definitely helped to drive the story which at the core is about Julia and Hunter. The book is fast paced with a great pay off at the end which I absolutely loved.

All in all, I did love Making It and would definitely recommend it.

Romcoms have fast become one of my favorite sub-genres and this story has humor galore! But not only is it funny, it has a some defining moments that will bring tears to your eyes and a blossoming romance that cannot be overlooked! Julia has just received a promotion to be an assistant agent and her first job is dealing with a bratty teen who want to be on "The Terrible Teens" reality show. Of course no one wants to deal with her, so when Julia goes in for negotiation and meets Hunter Steele, she is ready to make her mark. What she isn't ready for is the attraction she feels towards Hunter! And our story begins. Ross intricately weaves a romance into this reality based TV show. While Julia and Hunter are the main characters, and their story more than romantic, the secondary characters truly make the story. Pepper is Julia's client and she her part in this book will make you cringe at times, sad intermittently and laugh at her antics. She brings life to the TV show, and her realistic life makes you stop and think about what we perceive to be true of people and what actually is true. Love when a story can be funny, steamy and have some meat to it! It is a great listen, with witty banter, a lot of romance and incredibly fun scenes.

Amanda Stribling brings it all to life with her wonderful narration. She is incredibly talented with her voices, ranging from teenage to adult with ease. She even throws an accent in there flawlessly moving between characters. I enjoyed her narration immensely.

What a sweet, fun read! I really enjoyed Faking It and I was excited to get the chance to read the next book in the series. This time we meet Julia and Hunter.
Julia’s career is on the rise and she wants to keep it that way. Her first client is auditioning for a reality TV show and they have a meeting with the show runner, Hunter. Hunter has a reputation and Julia’s last relationship devastated her. But sparks are flying when they first meet but can they both overcome the past to make it in the future?
This story was full of heart, humor and deep messages about how you perceive people. Hunter knew what he wanted and he pursues Julia like crazy. She had a right to her reservations but in the long run I was getting a little tired of them. Can’t you see he’s a good guy?!
And Pepper, how can I not mention Pepper! As much as she is a brat, many things come to light about her and I really hope we get more from her in the future.
One gripe that I have about the book is that I really wish Hunter’s reputation was more brought out. More conflict in that sense. Then it would have taken away my earlier comment about getting tired of Julia’s hesitance.
Overall, fun, cute and very engaging story!

Such an amazing book!!! It has a plot that I've never read before and the characters are phenomenal. Simply sublime.

Hunter and Julia meet in a normal way... Having to work together unconventionally, but you can feel their chemistry, because it's off the freaking charts. Julia has a hard time trusting people, mainly men and rightfully so, and Hunter's past doesn't help matters much. However, they just click and he is formidable about his pursuit for her. I love it when you can actually feel characters fall in love, and that is what happens in this book.

You may remember Julia from the Faking It book (must read if you haven't read it), but her role in this book is slightly different, but her interaction with her clients really shows her heart. Her first client is Pepper, a 14 year old bratty, spoiled gigantic pain that was hard for me to like, until she starts peeling back layers. Then I feel in love with her. She truly is fighting with her demons, and Julia immediately sees that in her. They immediately click and Pepper relies on Julia for more than she should. This book really had many facets, and they all make the plot exactly what it needs to be. Amazing!!

I voluntarily reviewed this book from the author. It's glorious and fun, heartbreaking and full of love and emotion. It's a must read and a complete stacking love stand-alone. I hope you love it as much as I do.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. She did it again. Christina Ross continues to create story lines that draw the reader in. Not only is there romance, but you will laugh out loud while reading. Christina Ross has an amazing series called Annihilate me... (I highly recommend reading them). I have found that there are times when authors who have a long story lines that they stop writing about try to do stand alone and they just aren't at the same level that the previous story line was. That is not the case with this book. Christina continues to put depth and personality into her characters and her story line. I loved the little hits of characters that are from the other series. You don't need to read the other series at all. But if you did it was a pleasant surprise to see characters pop up again. Who can forget Toote (she is never gonna change. And there is "motorboating - which I have never heard of, but it popup up again in this book. Way to go Christina. You never disappointing. Thank you for creating books that transport us out of our every day life and give us something else to focus on!!

I received an ARC of Making It for an honest review. First I do not do spoilers, and second I am a huge fan of Christina Ross. I have read all her books, and wait anxiously for the next. Making It is about career oriented people, down to the 14 year old Pepper, who is on the Terrible Teens reality show. And their connection to each other. Hunter is the drop dead gorgeous show runner in charge, Julia is the agent that represents Pepper. The chemistry is off the charts between Hunter and Julia, the problems with the Pepper and her family are heartbreaking, but the issue between the teens on the show, well let's say....it is reality TV!!! I read this book non stop because I couldn't put it down. Even tho I had other priorities, like grandson's birthday party, I still managed to sneak a page or two. I also was excited that the author made an appearance with a couple of people from her outstanding Annihilate Me series.....two big surprises!!! I highly recommend this book, as I do ALL of this authors books.

Julia has just promoted to an assistant talent agent after busting her booty for 6 years. She is immediately given a difficult teenage client who wants to be on a show named “Terrible Teens.” She meets Hunter when she goes to negotiate her new client’s contract. Their chemistry is off the charts. Julia must balance her attraction, her client, and her new job to make everything work.

I loved this story. I’ve been waiting for it since I finished Faking It. I started reading this book st 3pm and finished it at 11pm. I didn’t want to put the book down. The characters are developed well. You really start to root for them. I understand Julia’s point of view and why she doesn’t immediately just jump into a romance with Hunter. I also enjoyed seeing some of Ms Ross’s past characters at the society party.

This is story can be a stand alone novel and has a happily ever after with no cliff hangers.

I was given a copy of the book by the author for a fair review.

I absolutely LOVED the story! I thought the characters were well written, especially the teens and Pepper. I could easily relate as I have seen this personality, attitude in some of the friends my girls have had during their teen years.

Hunter was a character that had a lot of depth. Not only within his good looks, but by his personality and how he didn’t judge Julia by her wishes.

Julia represented us women well! I loved her dry sense of humor/wit and how she had a comeback for everything. She was also multi-dimensional in that she could relate to Hunter as a love interest and as a friend while also working with Pepper and her issues.

This book was well written and I would recommend to everyone that enjoys a light romantic comical story!

This was the first book I've listened to by Christina Ross. I loved the characters and the character development around the secondary characters. The primary relationship was just okay for me, since even though it had an extended timeline, it still had a lot of insta-love feels. It got off to a really great start, then lost me a bit. I would be interested in reading more by this author.

I listnened to the Audible version. I am a huge Amanda Stribling fan, though this one had some unexpected French pronunciations.... Maybe it's Canadian French or the way French is taught on the east coast or something, and she may have done it completely right for others, but it just sounded off to me. I've listened to at least 10 books performed by her and she's one of my go-to narrators.

CHRISTINA ROSS’S BOOK ARE EPIC

As usual, Christina Ross has given us, her loyal readers, a book with supremely crafted characters, a believable storyline, and most importantly, in my opinion, has intertwined some of the characters in her other storylines. This intermingling of characters adds layer upon layer of realism.
Please continue to involve your cast of characters in future stories, as I, for one, enjoy becoming invested in those characters, and always long to know what is currently happening in their lives. And this curiosity in the ongoing happenings of your characters is solely due to the believability written into each and every character. My one slight disappointment with this book was that Alex and Jennifer were missing from Tootie Staunton-Miller’s Fundraiser for Hunter’s father’s charity.

Another Sexy Romance Story you Can't Put Down.
Julia Jacobs has worked hard for years to get her dream job and then Hunter Steele shows up.
Julia is on her first day of her promotion and Hunter's good looks and charisma knock her for a loop.
She begins working as an assistant Talent Agent on Hunter's Reality Show. He has teenagers he is handling on this show.
Lexi is one and seems to be a bitch on wheels. The other main one us Pepper who has an attitude because of an alcoholic Mother. These two play some awful tricks on each other - be prepared to cringe.
I loved the mention of the bitch Ms. Blackwell.
I highly recommend this great romantic comedy.

I was a lucky ready to be able to be given an ARC in exchange for a real and homest review. All I can say is that, I was captivated from the first page. Christina Ross is know for sassy characters with great whitty, sarcastic, banter between each individual character. She brings the upscale New York to life. Hard work for the "normal" working person navigating their life smack dab in the middle of Old Money vs. New Money. It is hard for me to write reviews because I want to tell everyone what happens which would totally be a huge spoiler alert. Just go buy the book and you will understand why Christina Ross is one of my favorite Authors.

*I received an ARC for an honest review* I was so happy to read this as I loved Faking It so much. I always love when characters from other books make cameos, and while I won’t spoil who, it was hilarious!

I loved the chemistry between Julia and Hunter. Hunter was pretty swoony! I loved how Julia refused to give up who she was, or who she wanted to be for a guy! Even one as great as Hunter! Not being a fan of reality shows at all, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the major premise of the book, but I liked it none the less! Overall it was a great book, glad I got an early sneak peak!

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book, and all I can say is WOW! I have loved all of Christina’s books and this one is no exception! Of course there is a great couple with many layers to them who we get to watch maybe fall in love, or maybe not! She also has a cast of supporting characters who help tackle very serious and emotional issues, which further the layers of the main characters. You can’t help but fall in love with all the characters in this book and want to see them grow and challenge each other. I loved this book, the story, and the characters! I would highly recommend it!

On The Brink

From the very first Annihilate Me book, I have been a huge Christina Ross fan. How can you not be? Her characters are charming, intelligent,  provacative, witty and sexy. The story was so well written and evenly paced with touches of humor, angst and drama. The underlying message of not judging a book by its cover worked on several levels.

Hunter Steele and Julia Jacobs are just downright likeable. Both poised on the brink of the next phase of their individual lives, becoming a couple may not be in the cards. Hunter wants more than Julia is able or willing to give. So settling for friendship is a must....at least for now.

Woman with past love issues, hunk who is/was a player, throw in some bratty teens and you have the newest best seller. The start of this book is about Julia ehis trying to make it in the talent agency world. She gets a huge break and becomes an agent to a teenage social media star. This brings her into contact with Hunter, a sexy hunky of a man. Nothing is easy as things start to happen for Julia. She has choices to make, hunk or job? How to deal with a teenager, her parents and their issues. It's a fantastic read. I loved the whole book and the ending if course.
I'm a huge fan of Christina's work. I've read every book shes written and all are amazing.

Another one knocked out of the park. Loved this book and could not put it down. I received an ARC for an honest review. Hunter and Julia are both trying to get to the next level in their careers. The book takes you through how challenging that can be and makes you laugh out loud. I love that Christina is able to tie in her other characters as well. There were a few time I almost spit my wine. She gives such personality to all of the characters in this book. It’s funny, sweet and an all around great read. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review...

I really loved this story. I agree that you did not have to read Faking It prior to Making It. However, after reading both, they do tie into each other in Characters only.

Great job with the descriptive writing style that you incorporate into every book you write. I laughed, cried, was mad and frankly exhausted. I cannot put your stories down once I start to read them.

Thank you for continuing to write such great stories/books for us to enjoy. I cannot wait for the next.

A whirlwind romance

This story started off kind of strange for me, I am not used to reading about teenage girls and the mean things they do to each other! I am a mother and a grandmother I was a little disturbed by the story, but once I started to understand the girls it was a great read. The relationship between Julia and Hunter was so adorable and loving, every page turn I was either crying or laughing. If you like a book to tear at your mood strings you need to read this story! I recommend it with a5 Star review

Making it (Making It #2) was a great read by Christina Ross. Julia Jacobs has spent years struggling in New York City and is on the verge of making it big in her career. All bets seem to be off when Hunter Steele comes into her life. He is the hot show runner of a popular reality show, The Terrible Teens. She becomes an assistant agent at a talent agency and the same day signs Pepper Winters, a billionaire’s daughter with a huge social media following. She finds herself attracted to Hunter the moment she meets him. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

It is with great pleasure that we find characters endearing, charismatic as only Christina Ross knows how to create them. I like to find old secondary characters to whom we have also attached ourselves to. From the beginning to the end of the story we are swept away in the whirlwind of passion. Very beautiful reading, as always.
