Are you sick of the drum-drum-drumming of Madison Avenue ads? Can you tell witch doctor is which on television programs? Are you mesmerized and hypnotized by Hollywood movies?Heres your chance to come out from behind your mask of indifference! Heres your opportunity to stop swallowing the same old song and dance! Heres where you get down to the sourcery of all your troubles!Mainly, you re about to practice that old black-and-white magic of The Voodoo Mad ... And have your revenge by sticking pins into some sacred cows!!
Another collection from the wild pages of Mad magazine. The edition that I have was printed in 1976. Among the contents: a takeoff on the TV series "Perry Mason," featuring Perry Masonmint versus Hamilton Burgerbits; half finished ads, with the new ad covering only half of the old one (e.g., dog food juxtaposed with whiskey); cartoons by Don Martin.
A nice representation of the wackiness produced by Mad magazine.
I think these were a way for MAD to republish stuff from the 50s and 60s in the 70s. So, to a young teen, a lot of the cultural references didn't (and some still don't) make sense. Still, some amusing stuff, with my favourite being the Bridge card game bidding (5 Kibitz? ... opening lead: right uppercut) a favourite.
