These books were a good introduction into this cozy mystery series. Quirky but lovable characters with Charlotte's senior neighbors make them great secondary characters. Charlotte is definitely the odd one in this senior community since she's only in her mid 20s but her flair for detection keeps her busy throughout Pineapple Port.

A bunch of oldies looking out for the young kid on the block!

Definitely five stars. All three books had humour, not laugh out loud but enough to keep you reading. Bones in the garden as a new way to find a boyfriend, an old box and someones idea of gangsters and lastly an old murderer coming back to town. Throw in an amateur detective and a neighbourhood of oldies. Smashing

Book 1
Who knew a retirement community could be so much fun?!

Loved the concept of this world building, a girl being raised by a retirement community, and staying there into her adult years. She def. fit right in with the retirees and their gossip mill.

All of the cast was unique and relatable. From the busy body, to those living in the past of their failed dreams. A great array of retirees, creeps, and friends.

Charlette's personal journey through this book with her life purpose struggles was relatable and I hope it will continue into the next book. Loved all her quirks, and her side hustle. Cute concept throughout the story. The romance felt rushed, would have preferred a slow build over books. Especially for where they were putting Charlette experience wise.

The mystery was a nice convoluted one. It did take the cast a bit longer than I expected to untangle the mess, but it leaned into the armatures aspects of their sleuthing. With how this mystery panned out I am excited to see what the next one is about.

You'll love this book if you love cozy mysteries that involve a retired cast and punny banter.

Note: This book is written in 3rd person with multi POVs. While I do think it added more to the mystery, it was a change from the normal 1st person, single POV cozies. There was also mild profanity & drug use.

Book 2
The characters in these books are so hilarious.

Loved getting more back story to many of the cast members, and seeing Charlotte stumble through learning how to become an investigator. I like that while she is the sleuth, the story doesn't revolve around her, but more revolves around the residents of Pineapple Port.

I did feel like this book dragged in a few places, and was a bit longer than it needed to be. A few strings within each of the various storylines needed more suspension of disbelief than usual but it didn't pull me from the plot. The convoluted multi mystery was unique, and I enjoyed discovering the culprit for each case.

Can't wait to see Charlotte grow as a person and a sleuth.

Book 3
This installment was a bit problematic for me, but I adore the cast, and found the storyline to be unique and thrilling at points so I'm still 5 staring it.

I love that Charlotte is having to work at being a PI. Being observant, finding clues, etc. isn't coming easy to her and it makes the storyline so realistic. She had a crazy career idea and is having to work for it. Each mini case around the port that she gets is simple yet, a learning experience. I excited to watch this skill of her develop as the series goes on.

Now to the problematic stuff.

The entire Stephanie storyline is so hard to buy. I kept thinking "but why" throughout most of her chapters. I am not looking forward to her being a main character. Who just casually lets their crazy cheater ex come over, or speak to them?? I've been puzzling over this since she appeared in the last book, but now it's clear that her being allowed to stay had to happen because she needed to be in the picture to be in this book. After the scare in the last book, any logical person would have ex communicated her, not just giggled off her crazy behavior.

The added POVs to give the reader spoilers were also ugh for me. It's like the book couldn't decide who was the main character and what the main plot line was. Is it adorable Charlotte, hunting down her port mysteries. Or is it Stephanie ?!?

While I loved the shocking reveal in Jamie's storyline, the connections revealed between Stephanie and Jamie were over the top for me. Like it was done for pure shock value.

I don't know, this book book left me with thoughts. lol I know I'll continue onto the next because i am curious who is lead, and the cast gives me a good laugh, but this book, and any where Stephanie's over the top storyline dominate won't be favorites of mine.

I'm also now rooting for Charlotte to leave Declan because no one has time for someone who can't push off an ex. She deserves better.

I received a free copy of Pineapple Lies: Pineapple Port Mystery 1 by Amy Vasant and this review was given freely. Read in March 2017.
Pineapple Lies started out a little slow and "Folksy" with our heroine Charlotte expressing her sarcastic wit and her thoughts going on multiple side tangents. Mariska , Darla, Bob and Frank ground the story. Jackie and Seamus bring a edge of mystery and intrigue. Declan's character rounds out the story by providing a budding and sweet romance. I wasn't sure that I was going to like this cozy Mystery/Romance because it started out more like a sarcastic slice of contemporary small town life and not how I anticipate. By the second chapter, I was hooked.

I purchased Pineapple Mystery Box: Pineapple Port Mystery book 2 by Amy Vasant and this review was given freely. Read march 2017.
Pineapple Mystery Box was both well written and more complex focusing on blending multiple story-lines and mysteries. Just the right blend of community interaction, mystery, intrigue, romance and humor. Amy Vasant continues to expand the Characters from Pineapple Lies. Mariska and Darla continue to provide motherly love, Darla and Justine provide some intrigue, Justine and Seamus's romance continues to build, Charlotte gets help from the community as well as Seamaus and Frank to train as a PI , and Charlotte and Declan's romance heats up. New characters were introduced giving you hints of what is to come in future novels. I like how this novel was a complex full length cozy mystery that was focused more of the plots and less on how scattered Charlotte's thoughts are.
4 stars
I purchased Pineapple Puzzles A Pineapple Port Mystery: Book Three by Amy Vansant and this review was given freely. Read March 2017.
The scene is set with recently retired Alex from Philadelphia, PA meeting the bartender and famous wooden jigsaw puzzle maker Pat. A gruesome killing spree ensues with a puzzle piece left at each scene. Charlotte who is interning with Sheriff Frank to gain hours towards her PI license becomes embroiled in solving the mystery of the puzzle killer but also has to contend with the return of Declan's less than nice ex the lawyer Stephanie. Action packed and sometimes gruesome with comic relief from a hairless cat, the sheriff's dispatcher Ruby, Declan's new employee Blade, and the ladies who love Charlotte.

Wonderful humorous mystery series with unique plots

This series gets better with each book. Charlotte is in her mid-twenties and grew up in Pineapple Port surrounded by senior citizens. Pineapple Port is basically a retirement community that provides interesting characters. In the first book Charlotte finds a 15 year old corpse in her back yard. This leads her to be a private investigator after solving crimes in her community. The second and third book is Charlotte working with her boyfriend , Declan's, uncle Seamus and her close friend the Sheriff, Frank to get her PI licences. Charlotte is helped by lots of seniors that are absolutely funny characters. The third book was my favorite with everybody working to find a serial killer that calls Pineapple Port home. If you like great plots with laugh out loud humor then this book is for you.

Senior community mysteries

I got these mysteries because they were offered. Having just transitioned into a senior community I had to face the fact that I am a senior citizen. I feel more like I am my early 20s and have been left here by the death of my parents. The fact is, I have been shelved here by my sisters and my parents have been dead for years. At least they found me a place to live with people are cordial and generous and interesting. The Van Sant mysteries take place in Pineapple Port Florida. The protagonist is a twenty-something girl who grew up in pineapple port after her mother dies and has been adopted by the residents. That in itself makes for a quirky heroine and colleagues and makes this series off-the-wall and fun.

If you like cozy mysteries this one is for you. The mysteries are too hard to solve but they do require you to pay attention. After all, how many female serial killers have you read about in the newspapers or in books? I have met some females who could easily pass for serial killers but they were just nasty people. We make the hell that we live in and we dream up the hell we live in. The same is true of these mysteries. I wouldn't mind a pawnshop owner of Irish descent named Declan who looks the way he is described in the Pineapple Port mysteries. I don't know too many women who would not like to be chased or courted by Declan or even his Irish uncle Seamus. There are dogs and cats aplenty and one naked cat called Mr. Coppertone. As is common in senior communities, all types of seniors live there. The cast of characters includes women married to cops, women living with men who belong to a Bourbon club, and women living alone who payback rude people they bump into with comeuppance that include extreme prejudice.

Young men see their future in their elderly relatives or just make them comfortable while they slip into the arms of cancer and awaken to the joys of mystery plants pulled from someone's yard and transplanted for their pleasure. There are card parties and water aerobics for the residents but nothing too strenuous for their seniors. At least it keeps them busy and keeps them mostly out of trouble. The mysteries are entertaining and fraught with love affairs gone bad and lovers who are more like predators than prey. It takes all kinds and most of them can be found in pineapple port when they aren't decorating their houses with inflatable Witchy Poo's and flamingos dressed in Santa clothes. What a place for young girl to grow up in when she has filled her life with aunties and uncles and mysteries. For cozy mystery, this is worth the time. At least it's fun.

Hilarious fun! A laugh a minute in a wild Florida Retirement Community!

Pineapple Port Cozy Mysteries by Amy Vansant is as much fun as a barrel of monkeys! I was attracted to the box set I admit because of the cute cover art. I am a sucker for cute pets, though hairless cats still give me the creeps at times. Yet, even after reading the synopsis, I wasn't sure I would enjoy reading the set. The price was right so I took the plunge but still let the set languish in my Kindle for awhile. Looking for a little light reading on a grey February day, I finally reached for this set. Talk about sunshine on a cloudy day! Amy Vasant's Pineapple Port Cozy Mysteries will have you forgetting about everything around you as you disappear into the world she has created.

The fun begins in Pineapple Lies with her main character Charlotte who having been raised in a retirement community by some of the wackiest senior citizens you will ever meet. Charlotte herself is delightful mix of cute but scatterbrained ditziness, masking a brilliant analytical mind, that somehow fits right in with the kooky residents of Pineapple Port. I envy Amy Vasant's creative mind! To create such a loveable quirky group of characters who fit together so well is pure genius! And to make them so real that as a reader you felt you were a participant in their antics, takes master level writing talent. Just a few pages in, I was looking up over 50 retirement communities in Florida, ready to move to Pineapple Port as soon as possible.

Don't try to read this set in public or late at night! I was unable to keep from laughing the entire time I read. Amy Vansant had me spitting coffee out my nose, waking my husband from his nap in the recliner and my dogs running outside to get away from their crazy dog mom, as I squealed with laughter at each new antic Charlotte and friends were involved in. Amy Vansant can give some of the best comedy scriptwriters a run for their money! I even ordered the Audible version as I wanted to hear what these novels would sound like performed aloud ! Amazing!

I don't know why I waited to read this set but I won't make that mistake again. I am not ready to leave Pineapple Port anytime soon! Join me in one of the wildest romps through book-land you will ever experience. You will never want to return to the real world again!

Overall: 4 stars
Pineapple Lies: 4 stars
Pineapple Mystery Box: 4 stars
Pineapple Puzzles: 4 stars

A good, introductory set of cozy mysteries. Charlotte was given special consideration to allow her to grow up in her grandmother's retirement home after said grandmother died. She's found ways to support herself but nothing really drives her. When the neighbor's dog uncovers a skeleton in her backyard, she decides to investigate. This eventually leads her toward the notion of becoming a private investigator. Along the way, she meets Declan, the handsome owner of a pawn shop and the son of the skeleton. There are plenty of hijinks, including Declan's shady uncle and unsavory ex-girlfriend, and the whole cast of characters who call Pineapple Port their home.

Charlotte, Declan, and others in the story don't always know what's going on, but, many times, the story spells out the details for the reader's enjoyment. Sometimes the characters in the story are led to believe that situations have been resolved when, in reality, they're not. More opportunities to revisit them in the future.

Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Funny. Great world building. Haunting. Romantic. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.

Fun in the sun!

Charlotte grew up in Pineapple Port, in the heart of Florida's retirement belt. At 26 she was the youngest person in the village, having been raised by her grandmother after her mother's death, and then by the good people of Pineapple Port after her grandmother's death.
It took some finagling, but with Sheriff Marshall on their side, they'd managed to get her from 11 to 26 without too much trauma.
Then she gets caught in a mystery and decides that she has to solve it. Which leads her to what she realizes is her life's calling.
Charlotte is now working on getting her private investigator's license.
It couldn't happen to a nicer girl!

The premise of these stories is about a young woman raised in a retirement community, which I really liked! So she’s in her early twenties but is integrated into this retirement culture which makes for fun characters and side stories! I liked the first book best, the second was still pretty good but I actually stopped reading the third. She had been becoming a detective but the third book started involving serial killers which got too weird for me. Generally these are light and funny and quirky- which was why the serial killers seemed a bit heavy. But they have a fun and entertaining writing style!

Wonderfully Funny Cozy Series
This bundle contains the first 3 books of the Pineapple Port Cozy Mystery series. It is very funny and has good mysteries and a few nice romances to keep things interesting. There is none of the boring, over-the-top, overly detailed descriptions of fashion, baking, wine pairings, books stores or anything else that is common in cozy mysteries. This series is more the light mysteries associated with Agatha Christie but with more humor. The series is based in a Florida over-55 community, so you know where much of the humor comes from. I read this bundle of three books and am now off to read the rest of the series.

A fun read. Characterisation is fine. I shouldn't like to live in Pineapple Port: a whole town for the retired wouldn't appeal at all to me; the UK does have such places as villages, and those don't appeal either. But that's a matter of personal preference, and the book gives an insight into what life would be like there.

It loses stars because there are mistakes with possessive apostrophes, confusion between the verbs lie and lay and some oddities such as misspelling of muumuu and grit erroneously given as the past tense of that verb (should be gritted).

Cosy murder mystery

Book two. Didn’t like the starving cats eating scenario. It didn’t make sense that he would steal cats and keep returning to a crime scene. Expecting comedy but found it dark and troubling
Book three. Way too dark and unpleasant for what was described as a story with a lot of comedy. What kind of guy has an ex who stole from him, cheated on him, who barrels back into his life and tries to steal everything again, keeps trying to help the ex and involves the new girlfriend? Didn’t seem believable.

Funny, a delight to read!

Great, well developed characters. Keeps the action going in a retirement community. Will definitely read more of Amy’s books! Sometimes I got mixed-up and had to re-read to figure out what was going on and who was who. Felt this last book in the box set left me hanging...wanting more answers, but all I came up with is more questions! Guess it’s on to the next book!!

Problem with third book

I would have given the first two books each a 4, but the third brought the rating down. It didn't seem as well written, was darker, and ended in somewhat of a cliffhanger. The characters are quirky and often humorous. The plots in the first two books were better. The last book's plot had promise, but fell short in the last part of the book. I would have preferred not knowing who Alex was to closer to a resolution of the mystery.

Welcome to Pineapple Port

The three books in this set are enough to get you hooked for the rest. The cast of characters, with all their quirks and foibles, are fleshed out and believable. There are dangers aplenty for Charlotte and her geriatric pals. Declan, her boyfriend, Seamus, his uncle, and Sheriff Frank round out the main cast . Cozy mysteries with a little romance thrown in. Fast and easy reading.

I thoroughly enjoyed the mix of characters and their quirkiness, even thought I don't live in a 50+retirement community. Though I do live in FL. The characters personalities are well developed in the books and they can easily be stand alone reads or picked up later on and return. The first two books fit nicely into the quirky cozy mystery genre, but book 3 veers off into a tale about dueling serial killers that broke the mold of cozy and became more crime fiction which was not to my taste.

This is an amazingly fantastic series. Budding romance. Mysteries that keep me reading until near the end of the last chapter. Fascinating characters. If the weather were more compatible I'd want to visit Pineapple Cove. As it is, there are still later books in the series I now need to read to find out what happens next. WOW.

Lots of action in senior citizens community

Loved the characters! Easy read. Living in her grandmothers ‘s house is anything but dull Pineapple Puzzles was really tense and left the door open for further dealings with Stephanie and her mother who was the Puzzle Killer. Stephanie appears to have same characteristics as her mother which spells trouble ahead.

This series turned dark

I believe I ordered the Pineapple Port series on Kindle under the "cozy mysteries" genre. The first book fit that description, but the second and third books got darker and darker. I lost track of the number of bloody murders in book 3. However, the story lines became more intricate and complex with multiple surprises.

I enjoyed these first three books. There are rounded characters, interesting interactions, and a mystery (or two) to boot. The main character is likable, and her living in a retirement community allows for a lot of humor.

These mysteries aren't Sherlock Holmes or Agatha Christie tough, but they do keep you guessing for a while; and enjoying the ride to the solution.

What wonderful books....nice "clean" books I would suggest to anyone ....Amy Vansant is a wonderful writer and I (for one) am very glad she decided to share her talents with us. I am looking forward to reading the rest of her "Pineapple Port" mysteries. I went and found them after I finished the first book. 🐼

3 book set by a new author to me

The series has grown on me. When I first started I wasn’t sure I was going to make it through the first book. But it got better and better. I like the quirkiness of the characters. It also had a good plot line. In the 3rd book I didn’t figure out who was the killer. I’m ready for the next book or books.

Fun cozy read

Cute storyline with a great set of characters. Set in a retirement community in Florida, Charlotte is the only resident under 55. She is able to solve her mysteries by using her common sense with the help of her friends and boyfriend. Fast read with plenty of laughs
