The first rule of Fright Club is…well, there are no rules of Fright Club.
Agatha Bright is scared. Her coven is due to arrive in her town of Sea Breeze at any moment, determined to punish Agatha and her aunts for Remington’s unfortunate possession. Meanwhile, her aunts are working around the clock to fix the John / Remington situation before the unimaginable happens.
The townspeople are unaware of the impending doom. In fact, life is going smoothly in Sea Breeze. The lifeguard tower is getting rebuilt, and the ocean’s water quality has even improved. Agatha’s friend Amy has become an Influencer, and Frances has a booming new career as the owner of a Porta Potty business.
But when John has to fulfill Remington’s MMA fighting contract, he finds himself in the cage with a killer MMA star. Blood flows in the octagon, but not as much as backstage when a body is discovered. The victim has been beaten to death, and all of the clues point to John AKA Remington as the killer. Agatha Bright has to prove his innocence, or this ghost will wind up dead for the second time.
Agatha Bright Mysteries…Agatha Bright has a delicious recipe for murder.
Agatha Bright Mysteries are funny small-town mysteries with a dose of witchcraft.
Elise Sax worked as a journalist for fifteen years, mostly in Paris, France. She took a detour from journalism and became a private investigator before trying her hand at writing fiction. She lives in Southern California with her two sons. An Affair to Dismember is her first novel.
Fright Club by Elise Sax was another fun filled murder mystery. Quirky characters, a twisted mystery and and plenty of laughter. The end has me hooked and I'm excited for the next one in this series.
Agatha and the zany residents of Sea Breeze are back! This time Agatha won’t let Remington go down for a murder he didn’t commit without a fight. Page turning fun with a mystery that only Agatha could solve. Love this series and can’t wait for more!!
This series is getting frustrating for me, despite how much I want to love it. Strong plots have never been Elise Sax’s strongest element, but she always managed to make up for it with great characters and humor. Not so with the Agatha Bright series so far.
Missing is the strong world building that makes me wish I lived in the quirky small town of the story. Absent are the strong friendships and family that support our floundering heroine. On top of that are inconsistencies between the books that make the stories seem disjointed. Unsure if this means Ms. Sax is burning out with these comedic mysteries, or has too much on her plate. I bought the entire series confident it would improve as we got to know the town and it’s residents, as with the previous two series. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened.
Murder magnet. That’s Agatha, soup shop owner, witch and murderer finder. Remington/John has committed to an MMA fight. He relies on Agatha’s aunts to help him and it’s quite hysterical. A person connected to Remington’s life dies and Aggie must find the killer. I just love how she’s really old, dresses like a hippie, never watches tv so all pop culture references don’t connect and her shop cleans itself. She’s got it made! I received an early copy, my review was written voluntarily and unbiased.
Loved the mystery. It was complex, convoluted, and simply divine in its mastery of the who done it. Loved the book. But, just one word: Mean. Mean, mean, mean! And a little funny. You will understand when you read it.
Fright Club is book three in the Agatha Bright Mystery Series. Agatha must prove Remington’s innocence when a fellow fighter is murdered. I am coming around on this series. I don’t like it as well as Sax’s other series but I do enjoy them. I am interested in seeing how this series continues. #frightclub #agathabrightmysteries #booksofinstagram #booksofig #cozymystery #murdermystery #readingchallenge #readingchallenge2020
