Owl Shifter Chronicles #2

Controlled by a Fire Demon

Rate this book

Her secret is out . . .

. . . and she is in even more danger than she knew.

Now, Emily has to sit and wait.

A whole family of evil roves is after her.

But they don’t just want her dead.

They want to torture and sacrifice her on an altar to induce the apocalypse.

But what they don’t know is that she isn’t just the fated owl shifter they need to perform the sacrifice; she is The Owl. With additional powers no one could have dreamed of. Within her consciousness is not only her owl personality, Selena, but that of a lava-spewing fire demon who likes to be in charge.

Now Emily has to step up to the plate and fight the children of the evil roves, and it doesn’t help that one of them is her classmate and strikingly attractive.

But how can she fight when her powers are scattered between three very different personalities all struggling for control of her own body?

She knows the potentially fatal Adoption ritual is the only way to integrate so she can fully come into her power. . .

. . . But maybe call that Plan B.

Emily, Selena, Zee, oh my, so much going on with these three. Add in Emily's aunt, father, and brother, Wanders has a full cast of characters to keep this book fun and engaging. Through everything that happens in this book, Emily is a high school age student, which the author reminds her readers at a pivotal point at the end of the novel. This young girl has A LOT going on in her life and the stakes keeps getting higher for her with each book in the series. I can't wait for the third installment of The Owl Shifter Chronicles.

Ooooh, there is so much more!

Fire demons, dubious warlocks and plans to wreck havoc? Yes, please.

This story continues where book 1 left off and to be honest it does not disappoint at all. The legends of Na-Ma are being unraveled to find the ultimate truth as Emily gets a firmer hold on her powers. Pretty kick@$$!

Look forward to the next book in this series.

I’m enjoying this series and the developments in this second book were very interesting. I enjoyed how the author builds on what came before, but allows a bit of a breather. Even though this book is definitely an in-between moment, it’s done well enough that you keep turning the pages, and I read this through in a single day.

The fire demon element has a bit of a deus ex machina feel, but I did like how Emily has to work on integrating it and making it a part of herself. There’s a lovely message there about self-acceptance and also about our innate human capacity for destruction through unbridled anger.

I’m loving the hints at a forbidden enemies-to-lovers romance on its way for the next book in the series.

I definitely recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced young adult fantasy adventure filled with action and that also has a noticeable undercurrent of social commentary. It’s a good fun read and not entirely mindless.

Supernatural splendor

A fast paced read that is hard to put down. I didn't get to read the first book, but from the recaps and explanations in this book, I don't think I missed out on it.
A great supernatural book which I would recommend.

This took no time at all to read. Emily is such an amazing character that I want to read more. I am happy this is a series. She is on the run from evil due to them thinking she can be the only way for something to end. So much going on! I cannot wait for more of this! Well done.

I’m binging on this series

As it was the case in the previous books, it is very well written. I just love the intrigue. Waiting for the next one coming out in two weeks.

so much going on in that poor teenagers life! but to be fair, she faces every thing the fire demon or life throws at her, and makes the best out of it.
I really enjoyed the book :)

Brave Young Girl

Emily is a beautiful girl who was brave and fought bigger and stronger. If that were me I would be dead. She is gutsy chic. Good story.
