The book captures the journey and transformation of an ignorant teen into a mature man through a roller coaster of emotions of love, friendship, responsibility, maturity, dignity, pride and above all self belief. Flip through the pages of this book to enjoy the story of an ordinary guy Akash, who found himself in extraordinary situations.
‘Some students make wonders happen. Some students see wonders happening around them and some students just wonder what’s happening around them’ Quoted from book
Yeah, this happens with the protagonist of our tale Akash, who pursues his M. Pharm in the same college where he has graduated B. Pharm. Akash has joined his PG alone, with all his buddies left to other places for their studies and job. In the very first day of the orientation class, Akash is insulted by his Principal about his lack of attendance in his B. Pharm in front of his new batchmates. He is embarrassed to the core and from then starts to ignore every comment passed on him.
Being tagged as ‘Love Guru’ by few, considered as ‘Lazy’ by many, believed as ‘Stupid’ by more, Akash moves on with his life by ignoring everything around him. Just then, to make him realize his own potential, to make him know his own worth, to make him understand himself, Simran steps into his life and remains as his best and special friend in all his worst and changes him for the best.
‘A true friend always does two things in extremes, one is silently caring and other is openly hurting, just to make you perfect’ Quoted from book
This is what Simran does for Akash. As a true friend, she helps him to get away his laziness and turns him to someone whom he can really be.
With so many sweet memories from past and so much hatred towards his present, will this regular college goer become a successive man?
‘A Twisted Tale’ written by Anand Kumar will make you understand that you don’t always need a girlfriend to make your life happy and worthful. All you need is a friend, who really cares for you. The story is penned in a simple language and from the narration, we can get a glimpse of the characters who have been real in author’s life. The autobiographical elements are therefore evident.
Justification to the characters are made, which can be seen all through the tale. Also, we are entertained with a cure romance, which pops up now and then from the memories of the protagonist. Moreover, ‘A Twisted Tale’ is a tale that will make you feel so relatable with the turn of each page.
The Twisted Tale is a story of college life. I was skeptical about reading this book - the blurb talked about the protagonist and his college life. Manipal university has always been quite famous. I grew interested in reading this book - a little because of its name. The story is a common one depicting the protagonist's college life. It talks about him, his academics and his participation in cultural activities. This story has been ended on an open note. The author can surely write a sequel to it. The narration is simple which is backed by a simple language. The story has been plotted well. Although there are some dull moments which make this story a bit boring, the reading experience is great. I rate- Cover- 3/5 Characters- 3/5 Story- 3/5
Book_Review Abstract: A Twisted Tale Story of Manipal by Anand Kumar is the life story of a college student. Story begins with Manipal College campus, where protagonist, Akash is an M.Pharma student. Like every other student, he goes through the typical college experience, being popular, first love, being lazy, college star, smoker, late night chatting & studies, bunking class, long phone calls, grass, etc. Amidst his daily life, he founds his first love, Neelu. But hearts get broken and friends move on. Akash chose to continue post graduation in the same college, with mostly the new faces. He hits rock bottom, without his friends and girlfriend and soon gets popular for another reason altogether. But comes his knight in shining armour or more like bubbly giggles, Simran, who not only helps Akash to get his life back on track but helps him to overcome all the negativity and heartbreak.
My Review: √It was a wonderful trip down to memory lane, total nostalgia. √The plot could have been more strong. Language use was easily understandable. √There were lot of youngster terminology used which made the story compelling. √Way too much use of word(s) B.Pharma and Wills Navy Cut, not to forget the total weed experience. √It an overall good, one time read, but I was looking forward to something more. √The Cover is nice but it doesn't really relate to the overall theme of the book and title just does not justify the story. √I would recommend this book to the readers for a great college experience and reliving those wonderful days.
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5 Title: A Twisted Tale - Story of Manipal Author: Anand Kumar Format: Kindle Genre: Realistic Fiction Language: English Publisher: Invincible Publishers
''A true friend always does two things in extremes; one is silently caring and the other is openly hurting, just to make you perfect.''
Review: This book revolves around how Akash's life changes from his bachelor's to master's. How a immature teenager transform into a sensible and mature grownup man. Akash used to be a popular person, with lots of friends in college but after bachelor's everyone had to choose their own path. He misses his old days, old friends and old life. Inspite of being in the same college everything is changed for him. But then Simran walks into his life and he got his new best friend. I liked the fact that a boy and a girl could be bestest of friends and that too without having that relationship tag, written in a great way. It was a sweet n simple read. However author has beautifully taken the reader through the journey of Manipal. It was a good attempt by debut author Anand Kumar!
Name of the book - A Twisted Tale: Story of Manipal by Anand Kumar. Stars given - 5 on 5 stars. My take on the book- So this book couldn't have come at a better time. You see I am going through a few major changes in my life and so did the character in the book. I used to be a very, ahem fine… a somewhat popular person, with tons of friends in school. And that changed over the years through College and University, only a chosen few have made the cut so I find the character in the book very relatable, as I am sure many will too. From being the it-person to having to make a fresh start, is not only a scary and daunting task but it's character building as well. You realize something important, that come what may you will be okay at the end of the day. And that is what I learnt from the book. Do check it out and let me know what you think about it too.
This book was not what I had expected it to be but was almost everything I was hoping it would be. I expected it to be the same old clichéd love story but it was much more than that. I had a lot of fun reading it and relating with it as a college student. Maybe I related with it way too much because this book did not exhilarate me at all, whatever was happening in the book, happens in my college as well. This book would be a hit with people going to start college and those who have already graduated because it shows the promise of the best 3 years of your life. Now for the characters, there weren’t too many, which I appreciate but they were nothing special, the character development was non-existent. The plot did not feel special or different at all. I would recommend this book to readers that have just developed the habit of reading recently.
A twisted tale 'story of Manipal' is a college based story which revolve around akash the protagonist. How he goes through different phases of life in Manipal the heartbreak he suffers and how he overcame that. The story beautifully portrays the situation of college life such as love, emotions and friendship. The narration is amazing and every college student can relate to the story. The plot is not so extraordinary but still the story is interesting. The language and grammar is up to the mark. One can easily go for it if they love reading college romances. Ratings: Title:4/5 Cover:4/5 Plot:4/5 Language:4/5 Grammer:3/5 Narration:4/5 Overall I will rate it 4/5 stars. Verdict: A story that connects friendship and love at its best.
Must read for those who have lost & found someone special in their life....... If love can break you down & friendship can do wonders to u...... Very nicely mentioned past & present in every incident..... This novel reminds me of 1 dialogue of movie hum tum... '1 ladka Aur 1 ladki ache dost nahi ban sakte'... But I must say Akash & simran has proved it wrong
The cover shows the picture of the Manipal University, which is apt, because the major portions of the story happens there, but what I feel is a little bit of creativity could have been used on the front cover. The way it forms the title on the top of the university is notable. In a way, it tries to emphasize upon the fact that the entirety of the story takes place here. On the other side, there is a guy with a cap seen enjoying a joint in a beautiful scenic evening, which I think is the 'End Point' where the protagonist often goes to smoke his joint. Good thinking.
The Blurb:
The blurb gives one the idea that it is going to be just run-off-the-mill story having a college senior with a past and a new girl comes in to relieve his pains, and be the exact girlfriend that the protagonist had always wanted. Maybe the lovers of the romance genre would pick this book up after having seen the cover and read the blurb. I wouldn't say it is a great blurb. It is a good blurb, but it isn't all that catchy.
My Take:
There is a famous saying 'don't judge a book by its cover', and I seem to have made that exact mistake. Maybe the author intended the readers to judge the book by its cover and after having read it, think that it is not at all what we thought of before. The author has cleverly not involved too many characters in order not to create a confusion. There are four major characters in the book. Akash - the protagonist, Neelu - his college sweetheart who had broken off with him, Kislay - his B.Pharm batchmate, now an M.Pharm buddy, Simran - the new girl from Delhi who is close friends with Akash. Even when he brings in other characters like his juniors who used to be in his acting team, it doesn't seem sudden. The introduction of the trivial characters is smoothly done.
The author has cleverly used two fonts in the book to differentiate between the past and the present instead of the classic italics which had been used for long. I guess he wants everyone who reads the book to be clear in understanding the story that he is telling. Good effort by the editorial team as well. The editing is fine with almost no errors and it is written in a very simple language that could be understood by people who aren't voracious readers. To say, it is a good book to start with. However, even though the story is good, the characters are kind of shallow, which made the good story miss the impact that it should have otherwise created.
Book Name - A Twisted Tale Writer - Anand Kumar Edition - Kindle
Summary -: The story of the book revolves around the life of an M.Pharma student, 'Akash' who's living his college life just like every other student. Although he is famous for being lazy and he always reaches his class late because of that he is even criticised a lot of times. He was studying in Mahipal University but he misses his old friends and also his 1st love, 'Neelu' who is no longer the love of his life. Akash was heart broken since then. But he met Simran in collage. Simran was the one who motivated him, released Akash from his negative thoughts & also made him realized that he's capable of doing much more in his life.
Things I Liked -: 1. The story of the book is nostalgic and took me back to my days spended in collage, where we use to live a life just like Akash. Always waking up late, bunking classes, etc. This book reminded me of all those days. 2. The characters of the book feels very realistic & the character of Akash us well described & written. His life seemed so much real & can easily be related to real life. Other Character like Simran, etc are also well described. 3. The language of the book is simple & easy to understand as this book focuses on young readers so the language is simple even for a non regular reader. 4. The narration of the book is good but I didn't found it to be smooth & it kinda feel boring in between some chapters.
Things I Didn't Like -: 1. As I said narration is not fluid it could be more smooth cos in between the story seemed to be stuck. 2. Although the story is good but still there's nothing much special in it. As it seemed same as many other romance book but it has a nostalgic collage based plot which make it different than regular books.
Verdict -: Overall it's a good collage life story. It'll surely take you back to your collage days & the characters are also well written & feels very real. It's was a good read for me with a nostalgic touch in it. Can be a one time read.
Rating -: 3.5 🌟

Book review 50: . A twisted tale by Anand Kumar . . Foreword : The cover is mature and sleek, speaks of a three way romance possibly, even the title gives us an idea that it is some kind of relationship between three people. . . .
About the book: The book is set in Manipal, the venue being, Manipal college of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The protagonist is Akash who chooses to return to the college to pursue M pharm. . . He faces a new batch of students and most of his friends haven't returned to continue studies. Akash has the reputation of being lazy and laid back and most of his new batch mates mostly ignore him on account of this. . . . Kislay from his previous batch is trying to understand Akash's mind and that's when we hear of his lost love, Neelu. Further in the book we start hearing bits and pieces of Akash's romantic story . . .
Though the whole batch is against him, he finds friendship in Simran, and the Akash -Neelu story further unfolds which deepens his friendship with Simran. What exactly happens in this triangular relationship forms the crux of this book. . . Takeaway : If you are keen on a college romance, this one is for you. There is also a learning in this book that a deep friendly relationship between a boy and girl is entirely possible without the slightest hint of romance.

The twisted tale by Anand Kumar is a good one-time read. The people who have left college years ago or even those who just left their college and entered the world of the job will love this book the most. It will be a refreshing treat to them.Good old time memories will be for them. And the people who are in college nowadays will relate to everything. I felt like I am one among those characters present in the book. And the last category of people who are enjoying their school days even you will love the book and get more excited about entering college life. The cover of the book is beautifully designed. The title is apt according to the story. What I liked the most in the book that the story did not end in the way every reader would imagine. The book shows how a good friend can change a person, his/her mindset. Like the main protagonist of the book, there are many people around us who are good in studies but don’t work hard to get good marks. But those same people excel quite well in other fields. I got nostalgic while reading the friendship of Akash and his friend of graduation days. Overall, the book was a wonderful read... I bet everyone will love this book. The narrative style of the author is good. The language used by the author in the book is simple and easy to understand. It was a short and delightful read.
The protagonist here in this story is named as Akash, who is as lazy as a person can be. He never happened to attend his morning classes due to his love for sleep. He is a student of Manipal university. He completed his B.Pharma here and was now doing his M.Pharma. He missed his old buddies and didn't find anyone in the new batch to socialize. Everybody criticized him for his laziness. He was only best at acting. He was the best director of the college. He always win mime, stage drama. He was also hurt by Neelu, who happens to be the love of his life but couldn't stay in his life, he always remained in deep thoughts of her which made him more adamant.
Simran came as a blessing in his life, she boosted his confidence and encouraged him to score more marks and made sure that he attend classes and take part in each and every activity. She became his best friend. He became a totally changed person, he top in the institution and won faculties heart too. It's an unusual story of a boy and his academic journey. The language is easy to understand. But I felt the story a bit incomplete. And there's also not many elements for excitement. Though there's a lot of thing one can learn from it. Yes would recommend it, if you are willing to read something unusual different short and easy read.
"A Twisted Tale" written by "Anand Kumar" is a nice post graduate student's life story, showing importance/impact of friendship/good friend. The story is about protagonist "Akash's" college life during M.Pharm days and "Simran" his best friend. It talks about him, his academics, his B pharm days, his UG friends, his present classmates, his lecturers, girlfriend Simran and friends in general. Know more by reading how much Akash changed/progressed in his academics, join his journey of change, know who helped him to change, his friends, how he met Simran and importance of Simran in his life, how much he misses his undergrad days and UG friends, his relationship with professors, how extrovert was he, his contribution and participation in college/class eventsetc and more. Author's narration is easy to follow, story flows smoothly, language used is simple, characters seem real and relatable, reminded me of my college days. Most of the plot is interesting, evenly paced but at places story seems dragging. Overall a nice plot, with nice ending, would recommend to all who love reading college life stories.
The story is depicting the college life of the most prestigious college, Manipal University. The story twirls around Akash the protagonist, who after completing his B.Pharma course, pursued M.Pharma from the same college. However, it was not easy for him to continue the same college, as no one was there with him from the gang and also he was not that likable among the new batch. It was difficult for him to attend the lectures, so he was always found sleepy in his hostel. From the tag line of love guru, he was given a label of lazy by the new batch mates.
However, following every summer there is an Autumn and similarly rain showers in Akash's life too by joining of some special person, who changed his life, who revealed him the real Akash, his obscure talent, his strength and triggered a lot to make a good move in his life.
Who was that particular person? What changes come in Akash and how?
A mild and delightful read, which will make you relive the unforgettable memories of college life.
“Change is the only constant” And this book defines it just aptly. The transformation of a teen boy, Akash to a master’s student at the Manipal University, takes every reader by the edge, because been there, done that.
Akash, the main character in the story is no longer the stud or the popular guy at college. His memories take him back to the good old times and he gets all nostalgic. The storyline perfectly describes the life of a college student and the phases one goes through when in university. It is a story relatable to every college student. I quite liked it and the character of Akash has also been developed pretty well.
As for the cover, it surely could have been better and more related to the plot, that’s one thing missing in the book. The narration was however really smooth and negligible errors. Indeed a good read and recommended to all college going students and the graduates to relive those happy moments through this book.
One such tale that presses more vehemently on the fact that a boy and girl could be bestest of friends and without having that relationship tag, is portrayed in a wonderful manner. What are your fond memories from your college life ? Or did you happen to despise the very thought of it ? Sometimes, days are difficult. We let other’s opinion rule our life and drown ourself in misery. Like they, there is light at the end of tunnel. We are immensely blessed with a beacon person. With them, everything is more serene and life begins to make so much sense in their presence. Journey that follows after becomes one thing that you consider dear to heart and a tale to cherish. This twisted tale is not twisted after all.
Before I start to review this, let me tell you how this book came to me. In short, after my college work, I was in a rush to catch a train but then I saw a book store and couldn't help but browse. I saw this book lying on a pile and started to read the blurb. The blurb was interesting, you see it's not like other blurbs, it puts readers on the edge especially when it confirms that what we are assuming is incorrect. I recommend this to all the students who are entering into their Bachelor's degree phase as this is book which talks about friendship, relationships, a little education, responsibility, maturity and more of motivation. A student's college life in one book. And just so you know this is not more of a love story than the title, it's more on friendships or please read it.
The book cover is so Beautifully designed its so pretty and so eye catching it'll attract the readers to buy this book..
The book is so delight to read i finished within 1 hour.. It is so Beautifully written and its written in simple words which is really good to understand.. You'll not feel like paused this book it'll not going to make you bored🤞
Story is so good in contains Love Hate Romance And hate as well as Any a very emotional ending. If your having a bad day read this book it'll make you feel better
I recommend everyone to buy this!😊 please do give a try
You can relate to this story easily. The main protagonist of the story is Akash and the story is about his college life. He fells in love with a girl named Neelu but his heart gets broken. It's an unusual story of a boy and his academic journey. The plot could have been more strong. Language use was easily understandable. The cover page of the book could have been more beautiful. The title of the story is interesting and totally related to the story. The writting style of the author is good. Story is well narrated and described. The characters are well developed and portrayed. It was a nice one time read. Overall, I enjoyed reading it
More than what I expected from a budding writer... Actually, I was comparing this book to Chetan Bhagat's TWO STATES in terms of writing skill and I wasn't disappointed at all. What I felt good was the way the writer has shown a relationship between a girl and boy. How a girl can change someone's lifestyle without being his girlfriend or relative... Yes, a boy and a girl can be best of the best friends and they can have their own love life as well! For that matter, even the romance in this novel is very touchy and sometimes even make ur eyes wet... A must read for all.
‘Some students make wonders happen. Some students see wonders happening around them, and some students just wonder what’s happening around them.’ . If I were to describe the book in one word, I’d pick: Nostalgia. Page one and Anand takes us back to our college years. The few precious years, where you feel indestructible, and everything seems possible.. You get to explore the world on your terms. And there’s nothing like it. Our hero, Akash is doing his Post-Graduation from the Manipal University. The memories of graduation years are irreplaceable, his old buddies- nowhere to be found and his social life; sinking. From being the ‘Love-Guru’ to ‘Outcast’, Akash is stuck and alone. Every corner in his college reminds him of the fun times with his friends. And revisiting them alone, kills him. At this point, the character is very relatable for all of us have been there. We all get labelled as ‘nerd’ or ‘stud’ or ‘stupid’ in our colleges. ‘A true friend always does two things in extremes, one is silently caring, and other is openly hurting, just to make you perfect.’ . His breakthrough comes in the form of a girl, Simran who made him realize that he can do much more than he thought himself capable of. Don’t go looking around for a moral from this story. There is none and a lot of hidden ones if you look closely. It’s a trip down your memory lane with hidden jewels along the way. And with the saying, ‘In India, students first do engineering and then decide what they want from life’ this book is a different outlook. I liked how Akash thinks his lectures would be boring and not helpful but ends up enjoying them. There’s nothing better than seeing your hero succeed, but then the book ends on an open note and leaves you wanting for more. . The writing style is smooth, and the story flows like an undisturbed river. There was scope of more, but the author left it undiscovered. A feel-good book, everyone who had a great time in college or wishes had a great time in college, should pick up this book.
PS: I felt the title doesn’t do justice to the story.
The author with this book has broken the stereotypical myth setup by Indian Cinema that a boy and a girl can never be just friends. The book deals with real life situations that every teenager once encountered in life. I hope the story continues in next book penned by the author.
This is master piece by a debut author. He has put all his life experience and talent in crafting a wonderful story. You’ll be super curious to know what comes and next till the last pages of novel. Kudos to author for writing this book.
Anand Kumar with his brilliant storytelling has taken me back to lazy and carefree college days. It is one of the finest books I have ever read. The book is so griping that I finished it down in one sitting.
The characters are super amazing. So real and relatable! The plot is new and raw and one to read and find out why this book is being loved so much. This is just one great book that one would like to have in his shelf.
“A Twisted Tale” is one of the rarest stories whose characters you will remember forever. It is a real description of college life blended with a lovely love story. Thank you author for writing such a memorable story.
This story is just not like the usual ones where a boy falls for a girl and then something happens! This is so real and relatable. A completely new plot which made me love the book.
It’s a brilliant story and description of transformation of life of a person from Under Graduation to Post Graduation. I wished the story got complete but no worries I am now waiting for the sequel.
The thing that I loved most was that the story covers all the human emotions i.e. love hatred, romance and ignorance. The story begins on high note and ends even higher.
