Declan has been on the road hunting vampires ever since one killed his parents. One town after the next meant one woman after the next, and he never promised them more than one night. Relationships have never been his thing. That is, until his journey brings him to New Orleans, where not only does he find out he is a demigod, but he also meets a woman that changes his life. Forever.

Ciera’s love for learning has always been her top priority. Teaching the Compound’s children is the main love in her life…until a mysterious man comes to town one night. Being a witch allows her to sense magic in others, and she senses something is different the moment she meets him. She finally finds someone who awakens her soul and shows her that opposites really do attract. But will he be in town long enough to catch her as she falls?

This is a retelling of the events in The Awakened in Declan and Ciera’s POV’s. It’s recommended that you read The Awakened before reading The Gift.

Hello fellow readers, my name is Amanda. I’m a multi-genre author, and reader, living in Maryland with my 11-year-old Yorkie Raven. When I’m not writing, I’m a homebody who likes to go out on small adventures. Traveling to new places and seeing new things lets me bring some realism to the experiences of my characters.

I published my first novel in July 2019, but writing has always been a creative outlet for me. I love creating different characters and then throwing them into situations and seeing how they react. Doing this resulted in my paranormal series full of wolf shifters, vampires, and witches, my currently in progress contemporary series about first responders, random short stories, and even a horror movie script when I was in 8th Grade, and I don’t even like horror movies! When I sit down to write, I have a general idea of what’s going to happen but it’s as much a surprise to me as it is to you where the road will take them, and it’s always a roller coaster of emotions.

I've been so excited to get to know Declan and Ciera better, and Amanda Carol did not disappoint!

For those of you worried that this book is just going to be exactly like reading The Awakened all over again, don't be! There's a little overlap, which is to be expected with the overlapping timeline, but this is a fresh story all its own about two of our favorite side characters. I loved seeing Declan's growth as a character as he processes learning the truth about his heritage and learning that he's a demigod. I loved his love and protectiveness over Aria. And I LOVED watching him fall head over heels for Ciera. And Ciera. Oh, Ciera. Where do I even start? She is such a sweetheart. Endlessly caring, patient, loving, and goofy. So smart in some ways, but so innocent in others. This is a story of "opposites attract" and it's a story of an instant spark quickly growing into passion that consumes. I loved everything about it, and I'm now campaigning for stories for other supporting characters (*cough*KnoxandGrace*cough* *cough*AbbyandZayne*cough*).

Well done, Amanda! Now hurry up and give us Rising Sun, would you? 😜

What I really like about this story?
EVERYTHING

We get Declan’s POV and we get to see how he falls in love with Ciera.

If you have read The Awakened, The Gift is Declan’s POV and he fills the story out for those moments where I asked “But happened there?”
Surely there was a mistake when the author wrote “The End” at the end of the book, because this cannot be the end of Declan and Ciera’s story?
I mean, we still need their POV on Rising Moon and Rising Sun (coming soon).

There are many characters more I want to read about, but I cannot wait for Bennett’s story. Because you are giving us one, right Amanda?

I was so excited to learn that Amanda was giving us Declan and Ciera's story. This a novella pulled me into the story from page one.(HONESTLY THE FIRST CHAPTER MADE ME LAUGH SO HARD). We see the events that occurred in The Awakened from Declan and Ciera's POV. which I absolutely love. Love how they first met, the reaction and attraction they had towards each other from the beginning, how Declan learned about his powers and what he truly was, the love an devotion he has towards his sister . Ciera was a breath of fresh air, I love her silliness and devotion towards her students, she is caring and strong. Her personality was a total revelation to me because in The Awakened I saw her in a more shy way, more reserved and serious. Here I saw she is a free spirit, with a fun personality and a total bad ass chick that stole Declan's heart from the start.
Overall this is a magnificent story that I absolutely loved reading, I can't wait for Rising Sun.

How can a book you read based mainly on the sister of this character be the same story but yet so different.
This is what The Gift ended up being for me.
We see Declan and Ciera through a different POV
Declan was the same but so much better. You see the love Declan had for his sister Aria and it was strange seeing her in the background of this story.
Both Declan and Ciera showed us different sides of their Characters , I found Declan this time around very strong minded honest and know exactly what he wants, when he finally realises what that is he sets out to make it happen
The characters were different yet familiar , the story was the same yet from another perspective but the feel goods from the sparks between Declan and Ciera were totally off the charts
Declan is totally knocked on his arse by Ciera and visa versa, I loved how we see this relationship build and another side of their personas
I’m so looking forward to the next installment in this series of all the characters we have come to know.
Thank you Amanda for giving me the chance to read The Gift and getting to know, once again everyone.
For Amanda 🥰

Alex: If Andy yearns for Brenda & Brenda cares about Charlene who pines for Andy, the 3 of them form one of these.
[Kara Spak rings in]
Alex: Kara.
Kara: What is a threesome?
Alex: [as audience laughs] No. [Roger rings in] Roger.
Roger: What is a love triangle?
Alex: Yes, that's it. Kara has obviously had much more experience than I.

I love PNR but Amanda Carol is blowing me away with this trilogy.
This is Declan’s and Ciera’s story and yes it’s from a different pov than what we’ve previously been given in The Awakened and Rising Moon the first two books prior to this novella, but it’s from such a different perspective as if seen with a fresh pair of eyes, and is beautifully done.
We get to see more of their characters, individually and together. Their chemistry that, well, seriously sets off my hot flashes. The beautiful aspects of their personality, their powers developing.
We get to see Declan interacting with Ciera as a teacher, and with her pupils, especially Maggie and Tucker, and OMG if that seriously doesn’t make your heart and your ovaries explode, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??
I can’t wait for the finale Rising Sun. I definitely can’t wait to see more from her other characters, especially Bennett.
There’s so much more to come from this young author I’m positive of that, and maybe with some pestering we might all get what we want😉

Declan, Declan, Declan. You are a GOD. 😍😍😍😍

I loved reading this novella before diving into Rising Moon. It was a fresh take on the happenings in The Awakened and it was so fun to see the story play out in Declan’s perspective.

I really enjoy the expansion of Ciera and I loved learning about her past, her job, and her roles within the Compound.

This was a quick read—I could have finished it in a day, but I used it as a buffer between a buddy read and finishing up a couple more audiobooks for our YouTube channel—so j read a chapter a day. The Gift was 128 pages of pure fun, romance, drama, and Wolfy intrigue!

Amanda Carol is an author you’ve got to watch out for. I can’t wait to read what else she has in store for us all!

P.S. I REALLY WANT A YOUNG KORA STORY. Thank you.

Loved this so much. It’s a lovely addition to the Awakened trilogy. To see things through Declan and Cieras eyes is beautiful. We get their sweet insta love and why they work. Declan was such a sweetheart I loved him. The way he feels too deep, he’s swoony.

Now I await impatiently for the next book!

Loved getting a glimpse into Declan’s POV and his developing new relationship. This one was just as good as book one, and I’m excited to get to the last book and see how everything plays out.
