Safety is but a memory now.

At the center of the dawning war are two of the most powerful students ever to walk the halls of the Academy. One, a magical prodigy of royal lineage. The other, a hybrid-gone-rogue they once sought to snuff out.

Emery Dalshak and Cece Ford hold the fate of all supernaturals in their hands. Much as they hate to admit it, they need each other. And yet, in the shadows of this uncertain alliance, a scheme begins to snowball. A broken heart threatens to steer the conflict in a different, and truly treacherous direction.

To win, against all odds, the girls reach into themselves and rely on each other to uncover powers they never even imagined.

Friend. Enemy. Lover. Family. In the final hours of the Broken Academy, all supernatural beings will learn the true meaning of each.

Bonds is the Fifth and final Book in The Broken Academy Series, a reverse harem, slow burn paranormal romance. All of the books can be read as standalone stories however series order is recommended to fully maximize enjoyment.

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion.

This is it, Bonds is the final book in the Broken Academy series and it was everything, I loved it so much.

The gray fiends may have been stopped but the Academy and Kyrie's troubles are only just beginning. The Academy and the Kyrie joined together to stop the fiends but they have bigger problems to deal with, the Lotus is coming and they won't stop until they have killed every last supernatural. The final war is here and things won't be pretty, the question is can they save the supernatural world or is everyone doomed.

I don't even know where to start... Bonds takes place right after the events in Pacts and Promises and from the beginning to the end it's non-stop action and it was so exciting, I practically devoured it. The story is still told from multiple points of view but this time around it's a joined collaboration, while the story still centers on Cece and Emery, it also has chapters from everyone that had chapters in the previous books. I really enjoyed the combination, it made the story fuller, seeing the story from so many different angles and capturing events that I would normally miss just reading from a few perspectives.

Cece is still one of my favorite characters, she is smart, strong, confident, caring and willing to step-up when not many will. However, what surprised me is that I started to like Emery again she still has her quirks but I getting used to them and she is steadily improving. Speaking of improving, I like Darius now, it was building slowly over the series which is a little surprising because after the first book I was sure that I couldn't like him.

I cannot believe the stuff that went down in this book, all the fights and the cool magic that happens. Everyone that comes together to stop the bigger threat, unexpected allies, the betrayals, the Lotus with their supernatural death squad popping up everywhere, the heartbreak and shocking moments equals a pretty amazing book. Everything was just so hectic and dramatic with the relationship issues, the supernatural issues, and missions and the danger that lurks, how could I not find this book captivating.

Bonds was fast-paced and action-packed, with magic, a few plot twists that made me feel all of the feels and I enjoyed every minute of it. I may have been terrified for my people, during the entire book but I loved every minute of it. The plot was so good, everything went so smoothly that I can't help but be satisfied with the ending.

Overall the Broken Academy series was a quick and fun read with characters I enjoyed and a plot that I could really sink my teeth into, I am so glad I had the opportunity to read such a good series.

This last book in the Broken Academy series is phenomenal! The culmination of an era for supernatural beings and the beginning of a new one. The battle with the Lotus takes everything the Kyrie and the Council have. The newest threat, the Lotus are destroying the tethers that hold the Academy in the air. Through the battles, many lives and four of the tethers are lost. Heren has returned from wherever he was sent and continues to wreck havoc upon the group. In the end, it comes down to the ones they know the least about, Astrals, to lead the final charge. The battle is messy, hard fought and the group is tired and greiving the loss of one of their own, Bryant, but they manage to win only to be faced with the ultimate betrayal. It comes down to a fight between parents and children when a portal to the True Realm is opened by a group of the Kyrie including Cece's father, Dorian, and Emery and Serge's parents, Horace and Deliah. It takes all they have to win the final battle against those who wish to reopen all the realms and Emery is lost in the fight until Darius steps in to save her. With the Academy lying in ruins in downtown San Francisco, the survivors need to find a new place to rebuild. They find their way to the Kyrie stronghold and make it there own and open it up as a safe place for all supernaturals, including new ones awoken in the final battle.

These are the final battles between the Academy, the Kyrii and the Lotus. The action is fast paced and the combatants don't even have time to rest before they're at it again. The fights are bloody and take out so many of each group that by the end it looks like there is no hope for survival. I cried when we lost a key member of our core group. I was so hoping that somehow he would find his way back, but it wasn't possible. Trusted family members betrayal, battles in the middle of the city, devastation everywhere. Bond will be reforged and some will be destroyed forever. Hoster still hasn't got a full handle of his astral self, but he is a super important member of the team still. It is a bittersweet ending and I still miss Bryant. I do wonder what happens to River after it's all said and done. I was really happy with the bonds that have stayed throughout it all. I also loved that Cece was able to see her Norm parents and reconnect. I am so sorry it is all over. Maybe later we will revisit The Academy. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.

This book was .. tragic. So many deaths, such big loss. All sides finished heavily affected, not many did survive. It was fight against time, against odds and even against themselves. This book was steak of actions, trials and fights, Many was put in front of choices, heavy choices. We lost some of them, or nearly lost. But every single time they found the way to overcome everything, rise and rebuild. Find the way to survive, became near and let friendship bloom. And even with the vision that they can be dead tomorrow they let love bloom and concretize. Some of those was surprising, some felt right and some seems to possibly bloom in the future. They all did grow, change, became somethign so much more. I will miss them but I hope they are all good in this wonderful imaginary world Jade Alters did create.

What happened in Pacts & Promises carries over into Bonds. We find Cece back at the Broken Academy in the Administrative wing. Who else is there? Why? What were the losses? Who and what were or are Heren and the Lotus? The alarm is interesting. What bonds are forged or broken in this story? Watching the Dalshak siblings working together as teachers was interesting. What is the outcome>? Cece and Bryant are still something that makes me think... Huh... What is Heren's prime directive that he has set for the humans? Love the shifters!!! Love the dragons even more! HOLY WOW!!! That did not end how I expected it to!

4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wow there was so much action in this final epsidode, it started straight away and didn't stop until it was all over, for better or worse. I have thoroughly enjoyed this whole series which has gone from strength to strength each book. I've enjoyed getting to know all the characters, both good and bad, except maybe Heren, him not so much. Friendships and relationships have altered over the period of the series, enemies and those who allegiance is a bit iffy. Jade Alters has taken this series to places I could never have guessed when I started book one and she's ended book 5 with a bang.

I thought I had already reviewed this book before now. My apologies to the author.
Well, this author has done it again with her great writing. I haven`t found any spelling mistakes or any holes in the plots for the book.
I always fall in love with all her characters and the story. They all get on great in all her books. I do lose myself in these books by the author.
I have just about read all the books by this author now. Only a couple more to go. I can`t wait for more of her books to come out to read them as well.

Bonds, book five in The Broken Academy series combines all of the characters we have come to love in this series. With the Gray Fiends gone, Cece’s group and Emery’s group must work together against a new evil that threatens the supernatural community - The Lotus. There are some losses, but through tragedy the group becomes closer, helping one another and working together to overcome the devastation. Can Cece and her new group of friends help make the Academy better for the future? Or will their losses be to much for them to recover from?

This is it the last book of this series. It was absolutely a ride to end the wars, along beside each other enemies who became friends, family and all the supernatural. Between killing the Lotus and Kyrie who had sabotage along for the Broken Academy. They lost a lot of lives, but in the end they will grow and become better then the elders.

This book is such a great conclusion to the series. It's packed with action, suspense, twists and turns before the denouement. So much happens. All the lose ends get tied up neatly, but there is a huge amount of sadness in this volume. The end of an era….
