A good storyline but the storytelling was somewhat confusing on times, a bit a loss of connection to the story and the characters. It had interesting phases and poetic moments, only sometimes they did not make sense to me. Short story, well designed, somehow completely told, but not a fluent reading experience for me. The idea was great!
the story was very confusing and disjointed...it is a dual POV story but very confusing on whose POV your reading at the time. the chapters are very clearly labeled as to which character is supposed to be in the chapter...but at times it seems like both POV are coming across in the chapter and sometimes in the same sentence.... very confusing.
i don't know if the story lacks from editing issues, poor language translations, or poor grammar or just all of the above. i just know it lacks something and it affects the story tremendously.
the story line is promising but was not carried out very well. its to disjointed and rambling. it seems to be all over the place instead of a continuous smooth flow. it almost seems like the story was written out of order. and when piecing it back together in proper order that parts of it got left out.
another problem with this story is that its a short story. only about 70 pages and this story needed to be a lot longer then that to give it the proper cohesiveness, character, and world building. we know almost nothing of the hero in this story or the heroine either. no time for the reader to become invested or even interested in either of them.
Kristen never knew that she wanted pain, that it aroused! by sewsummore
Kristen had been a Captain of her own ship, she delivered goods until she stole and delivered medicines to people that needed them instead of where they were mean't to go. For this she was imprisoned for life, then her sentence was sold to an alien and she became his slave. Maveros was a Commander, wealthy in his own right, his world was his ship. When she first arrived she was filthy, starving and needed sleep. He washed and fed her then comforted her, it would be the first step in breaking her. This was a story full of dark and desperate pain, Maveros needed to control and inflict pain. Kristen never knew that she wanted pain, that it aroused her and as her need for it grew Maveros knew that she was his mate and he would have to let her go. It kind of went on and on a bit too much for me. It had a great start! The build-up was good, but I kept feeling that I wished they would get to the point where the buildup was heading. :( I liked where it was going, but I also would have liked more details of what our dear Alien/Cyborg (because what was he really? The descriptions were very vague!) and it had a kinky feel to it - perfect for when you needed something fast, cutthroat and hardcore - I thought...
But it just never went there for me. I was left feeling a little confused about the tipsy-turney emotions all around and I felt that in some places there was just too much "filler" and not enough actual *action*.
I gave it 2,5/5 because of this.

Kept is the first book I have read by Erin Gale and tells the tale of Kristin Kalimantan and Commander Mauro’s Umthrane. Kristin was imprisoned for life when she loses her ship and medication cargo (which was given to her people). Macros purchases Kristin at a pleasure slave auction and intends to make her his submissive. Overtime, lust turns to love for this couple. This book has vividly descriptive characters and environment, an interesting plot, drama, suspense, unexpected twists, and passionate love.

This is my first time reading anything by this author and I was impressed. The author does a good job of world building and an even greater job with character development. We get to see the story from both main characters points of view which she has done a great job with. The human female, Kristin is very well described and goes through a slew of emotions as she deals with her situation and where it’s going. Mavros is the alien and he is likable. Both the characters have a lot to learn and are both somewhat broken and afraid. It’s a very quick read but an enjoyable read.

First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also this author is new to me, and I hope it won't be for long.
Wow, this is a gr8 story, but needs more work. There's some problems with it in the sense that it felt rushed. It jumped a bit as well. The HEA was way to quick. I can't recommend this read until it gets an overhaul. 3 Thumbs up
Mavros saw the human slave Kristin and knew he had to own her in every sense of the word. Kristin had been enslaved for crimes that were absurd to her. Now she had been bought by some rich high commander. Only things backfired and not only did Mavros and his dark urges come into play along with hers but so did his mate urges.

Kristin was a captain of her own ship. She was caught trying to help those in need by giving them drugs she was hired to deliver. She is bought by Mavros. Because she seems so frail and already broken. He wants to heal her before having his way with her. Then he realizes that she is his mate. Wish there had been more detail on his makeup. Also wanted to see them both totally give in to each other in the bedroom.
Loved the book, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. Once I started I could not get enough, from the start till the end I was engrossed I was even on the edge of my seat with twists and turns, lust and passion, strength. The short story of eroticism of sensation. Do yourself a favor and buy the book you want be disappointed. Thank you for allowing me to review your book.

I loved the concept of this story, and the characters felt like they had depth, but I felt like so much of it was left out because there was a massive jump in their thinking, their relationship. etc. I felt like a lot was skipped and I wanted to know more. I wanted more information. I just wanted more.
This was a good dark romance. It kept me engrossed from beginning till the end. The storyline was filled with action, adventure, intrigue, and all types of emotions. The characters were well developed and had alot depth to their lives and personalities. I found this to be an entertaining read.

Took me sometime to get through this one, it was good, but it wasn’t one of my favorites. But that is just my opinion, I’m leaving an honest review, someone else may think it was fantastic. To each her own. But I still look forward to reading another from this same author, maybe the next one I find I will enjoy more.

Good idea to begin with... BUT, it lacked on follow though. Seemed disjointed and rushed instead. Since Kristin was a convicted criminal she could be sold as a pleasure slave. Commander Mavros, a cyborg with dark desires purchased Kristin.
Mavros is the commander of his ship and buys a human criminal named Kristin. She is a conflicted woman that he wants to break and possess, but finds himself falling for her. I enjoyed their heat and how these complicated individuals come together.
Considering this story was only 70ish pages, it predictably left a lot to be desired. That being said, it wasn’t horrible. I believe that if the author were to write a larger story on a grander scale, it would be amazing.
A not quite so dark as all that novel. Written well if a bit stilted for my tastes. Choppy in style. The writing didn't seem to flow; but a pleasant read in spite of that.
Kristin is a human woman who is bought as a pleasure slave and rescued from prison. Mavros is the commander sworn to only use her body for his pleasure. Sparks fly between them from the moment they meet. I had a bit of a hard time following the flow of the story. It's written rather uniquely. I love the genre though and this is true to form.
