I just found out I have leukemia and my greatest worry is how to tell my grandkids. This book will help a lot

I was 23 when my loving mother was diagnosed with malignant cancer in 2013.
With no one to support and guide and with an innocence only as much as 13-15 years of age, my world had been shattered. Not a single night had passed from May until October where I hadn't cried for hours to sleep just so I could stay strong in the day time in front of mom and face this monster together. I was even ready to go behind my mom if she lost the battle of life.

That was the mindset I had when I stumbled upon this book shared by cancer.gov and the 23 year old me then can't thank enough for all the guidance and positivity that I received through this book.

A must read for kids whose family member is going through this battle. Along with the illustrations of this disease, it also helps you find your hidden strength within.

Update: My mother is with me and doing well due to the blessings and wishes of many, knowingly and unknowingly. And we are living every day of our life as a gift from God ever since my mom got a life renewal.

The Right Balance of Information and Emotion

Compassionate, loving tale to help kids... or anyone approach grief and hope. In realistic form, but presented in colourful illustration for children, this tells of a difficult situation in a personal way. Levity and spirit take form as well, giving a comforting smile to readers. Relatable, a celebration of life.

Have been searching for a children's book to give when kids are faced with a loved one with cancer. This is by far the best one I have found. Much like a children's sermon at church, it speaks to adults as well. Practical, precious, profound. Highly recommend it.

This book is divided into sections such as "What is cancer," "It's not your fault," "It's OK to be afraid," "It's OK to be happy," "and "Do something nice." This book is long and has a lot of text for kids, but if it were shared a page at a time, it could be helpful.
