I am a sex slave. Sold, I lost my name—my identity—three years ago. Where the world once knew me as Maisie Grace Foreman, now I am only Honey. Honey… A name as sweet as nectar, now tarnished into the nothing I am. They stripped me of all my value, broke me into their puppet, and threaten everything I hold dear. Secrets keep me under lock and key. Ones no one could know, but I did. The women in this hell with me wonder why I haven’t escaped. Why I’ve only chanced my freedom very few times. That’s because they don’t know why I willingly walked into this world. They didn’t understand I did it to save the three out of the five most important men to me. The Night brothers… Even worse? When the universe sends my path crashing back into their lives, they don’t understand either. I’m just the girl who left with no goodbye. WARNING: Readers should be 18+ to read. This book is full of triggers for bullying, domestic violence, emotional and sexual abuse, and drugs. Please make sure you understand what a dark romance is before reading. This won’t be a vanilla tale, and neither is the sex. Does contain a MMF scene in chapters 39-40.
Am new to the author and was intrigued given the high ratings. This is definitely not a book for the faint-hearted with triggers such as sex trafficking, drug addiction, rape, torture, suicide and murder. I had quite a few issues with this but I did admire the FMC Maisie’s bravery and resilience. The plot was well paced and I was broadly satisfied with its conclusion. However, the plot was at times unrealistic. Such as, a victim in a sex trafficking ring allowed/funded to attend college, let alone in her own neighbourhood. Not to mention the fact that there would be no time to complete any extra curricular homework, given her drug fuelled nightly duties. In addition there were the elements of the absurd - a safe house which was not at all safe, which was deemed the best location to harbour key witnesses with no police protection and a preferred place of recovery for Maisie’s withdrawal when she should have been hospitalised.
I did not particularly like the romance with three of the men in her life. Their shocking treatment of her left a lot to be desired and in my opinion, were unworthy. However, my feelings for James warmed. I don’t want to highlight every single thing, as there were many but I found Jack’s actions totally deplorable. Jensen’s aloofness and his relationship with Rod, overshadowed his reunion with the “love of his life”. Don’t even get me started with the bathroom scene.
Nonetheless, I felt compelled to finish this dark tale to the end. I was hooked but maddeningly frustrated at the same time. I don’t think this was badly written, but if a good editor could have dealt with the flaws, this book could have been so much better.
This book had many triggers for me. However, I'm glad that I did finish reading it. Thus book shows the grit and presence of humans be they men or women. The abuse was hard to read and about the rapes. But it does work and the men show that they are just as human as the rest of us. This book shows how much strength that someone has to have to continue with their life when it goes completely side ways. This book is one you CANT put down, but there are triggers in this book. It is very very dark. It does deal not only with billing but also abuse, drug use, beatings, and rape. So be sure that you can handle it. If so, you won't be sorry cause it also show how humans can bounce back through anything.
I really wish I could give this book a higher rating. It’s extremely dark and deals with some heavy, twisted topics.
Our FMC Maisie is a character with a lot of depth, and I love how we are able to see the dichotomy of who she is. We get to see her as weak & we get to see her as strong, we get to see her struggle and deal with her situation. Her need to end her life is very raw and powerful, and hits the reader HARD. Maisie is obviously the main character and I think her development is very well done. I loved Maisie’s strength & desire to help everyone around her, and I love what she did with her home at the end of the book.
I am less happy, however, about the guys. They’re all pretty flat characters, especially Jack & James. They lack the depth that’s necessary for a RH to work. Furthermore, once Maisie is out and the guys all know the truth (ie., she didn’t just leave them, she was literally sold into sex trafficking), they do not GROVEL ENOUGH!!! I can understand Maisie not being strong enough to demand that of them, considering the heads of trauma, but they should know better. It’s a really negative point for me with this book because we find out how devastating Maisie’s story is, and how she waited eight months for them to save her- when they never actually searched for her at all. For them to KNOW that’s what happened and to know how much abuse she suffered and to not do more for her is astounding and disappointing.
Tethered Apart by Ashley Amy, is a fabulous read! I have been a fan of Ashley Amy’s writing for sometime and her newest book is just super. Certainly some people will have issues with it but it’s best to remember that it is a dark, contemporary RH and she provides a warning at the start. I loved the characters - Maisie is such a wonderful MC and the history with the men is packed full of feels, the action is nasty and fast paced and the emotion, well grab the tissues, she takes you from crying to smiling to sighing. Lady, you keep writing and remember your own advice on the dark days and shine bright. Ps. Loved 39-40
Holy heartwrenching, brain explosion! This book. Maisie is the kind of strong that everyone wishes they could be. She goes through EVERYTHING. I went through every possible emotion at least twice reading this. This book felt real, and hard and mean, and nice, and gratifying. It is dark, but what I love very best about this book is that the ending felt real and hard and mean and nice and gratifying too. It wasn’t an “everything is roses” ending. What a subject! Well, well done!
This could have been a good story. I enjoyed the guys reactions and feelings except Jack. He was a downright a-hole the entire book. He was abusive. He had no redeeming qualities at all. He ruined the book for me. The fmc went through literal hell for him and the others and he treats her like trash when they reunite.
I’ve read so many of this authors books, I should of known she would make me fall in love with this one too. I was ready to not like this one as much I as I love other books by her but she proved me wrong again! I’ll never get tired of reading her work! Never give up and and don’t let the haters bring you down, because you’re an amazing author!
Prepare to cry, but the journey was amazing!!! I love how real Ashley took this. She didn’t brush over the trauma Maisie suffered. Her trauma became a part of her and she learned to heal. God... I loved this story. She always makes twists and turns. This did not disappoint. Now excuse me while I figure out out how to get out of this book hanger.
After her parents' mysterious deaths, Maisie is ripped apart from the boys she saved, only to be submerged into the world of sex slavery. For three years she acts as a puppet, biding her time in hopes of seeing her boys again, while fighting to maintain a shred of who she is. Broken and stripped of her identity, Maisie's path collides with the boys she loves, only to be the target of bullying and ridicule. They don't understand why she had to leave. After all, she disappeared without so much as a goodbye.
While I found some aspects of this story to be unrealistic, I could not put it down. The journey of abuse and suffering Maisie experiences had me on a rollercoaster of raw, heart-wrenching emotions. Maisie's character is strong, brave, and resilient. I found Rod's and Jensen's characters sweet and caring. While James's character's behavior was appalling at first, he warmed up to me as their story progressed. I found Jack's character lacking - his behavior towards Maisie abhorrent, and possessed zero redeeming qualities. The ending is what got to me. In her journey to heal, the guys band together to help Maisie bring peace and some good to their community, as they help others heal from their own ordeals.
I would highly recommend this book but caution readers to heed the author's trigger warnings. While Maisie's story is raw and inspiring, it isn't for the faint of heart.
It’s not often that I give 5 star ratings but this book totally tugged at my heartstrings.
So as the description says this is a standalone contemporary RH. It also says ‘bullying romance’ but I think I beg to differ. Yes there’s a bit of bullying but I think the bullying is overshadowed by the bigger picture and that is the organised crime Maze is embroiled in.
I like how this book is written. It’s not just in different point of views from our main characters but throughout the book we get a past flashback. And because there’s a bit of mystery behind why Maze left when her story is slowly revealed i couldn’t help but get sucked in, hence the ugly tears 😭
I love Maze, she’s a survivor in every sense of the word. She’s also self sacrificing, not just for the men in her life but for those she needs to save. She felt so real to me.... again so many ugly tears 😭
I highly recommend this book but beware there is a lot of triggering content as it states in the books description and Ashley didn’t hold any punches!
This story was beyond anything I ever expected. It wasn’t a sex filled rh story but an all out love story filled with pain and challenges. Masie’s devotion and strength had me hooked and almost crying.
Part of me wishes the book was longer with even more detail, because I know this book had the potential to have me all out bawling. But in truth, I’m glad that Tethered Apart read at a seemingly fast pace and that the author didn’t go that much into Masie’s time as a sex slave. I don’t know if I could have handled reading about her first few months with Dom.
That being said, I actually wish this book was split into two. The first book focusing on Maisie’s POV and the other one focused on the boy’s. That way the author could have gone into a little more detail about Maisie’s experiences and gone into a lot detail about the Night boys and their story.
Overall, this was a great read. Serious with some trigger warnings, but fast paced and filled with love.
This book is a Dark journey filled with a lot of triggers. That being said, if you can handle those, it is also very entertaining, intriguing, fast-paced, and redemptive. It is RH and the heroine, Maisie, struggles not only with her situation, but also with her love for 4 men. I enjoyed how Maisie evolved and grows so much stronger through out her struggles, from drug addiction and suicide, to being sold into sex slavery. If you enjoy dark romance with a why choose ending, you will definitely like this new read by Ashley Amy. Don't forget the tissues! 5 Gut-wrenching Stars!
This book tore my heart out and crushed it so many times I am surprised I was able to recover. There are so highs and lows that it was hard to put down. There are ALOT of triggers in this book so just be forewarned but if you can power though and read it, it is definitely worth it. While this book is very dark, you can see the strength in people who have overcome the worst life has to offer and in the end that is truly awe inspiring and inspiration. So if you can dive into the dark it is totally worth the seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Wow, this book left me in tears. I started reading it before bedtime and ended up still reading way after midnight so I could finish it. The emotions in this book are raw and left me in tears on multiple occasions. It's dark, so take notice of the trigger warnings. The author did an amazing job, creating these characters and the plot. I wouldn't mind reading a story about Ana 👏She really rocked this book!
Caught up in the world of sex slavery, this book cannot be anything but triggering and heartwrenching. But it all comes together beautifully in a HEA for Maize and her men.
There are times the book is a bit stilted, some transitions that seem a bit forced. Regardless I recommend this book 100%!
This book will throw you through quite a few loops. It is AMAZING. Ashley Amy tore me apart and put me back together. Maisie is a strong woman who goes through absolute hell. She is in turmoil when we start and her men are too. It's not your typical RH but it is 1000% worth the read.
Some parts are hard to read especially it you're triggered. If you can move past it this is truly a beautiful story of growing from trauma, and becoming stronger for it. A lot of this book has made me look at my own trauma in a different light, and I am grateful to the author for it.
Just wow! Hard parts, joyful parts, heart wrenching parts. I couldn't put it down! Loved it! I know it's a book, but going through that story.....I'm so damn proud of them!! That may be weird, but they make me thankful they were able to overcome and be strong for each other. Love her books!!
I went into this book blind and thinking it’d just be a filler book for the day while I got a few things done.. well I was so very wrong. I couldn’t put this book down. It broke my heart and built me back up again. The only problem I had with it was the fact that the bad guys let her go to college in the same town she was from. That just made zero sense to me.
Even in her darkest hour, her darkest moment, and all the despair Maise thought of others. She wasn’t selfish and had the best character development. I love how they all came to be towards the end and what they accomplished as a team and individuals. Well written and the characters felt like friends. They felt like someone I would know and could talk to.
This book is very intense. Maisie is such a strong character and reading her struggle was painful but also healing. Her going through everything and still coming out putting others before her self shows strength most people don’t possess. My heart broke for her through most of the book but in the end it was totally worth it.
This book was amazing. It showcased human trafficking but also what love can do to help you heal. I cried and smiled at how things ended but it was one of the best books.
This book had me in a puddle of tears the majority of the book I felt Masie's emotions throughout the book as well of the guys...Its definitely not for the faint of heart but even reading threw my tears I absolutely loved this book
This book is very dark at times but also stays true to reality. It shows that no matter how dark you think it might be. There’s always a light somewhere if your willing to find it! Loved it.
I am officially in a book hangover. This book was a work of art that I will be thinking about for quite awhile. Ashley did such an amazing job telling this story....just phenomenal.
This book... I ugly cried. I happy cried. I mourned and I celebrated. Most of all, I FELT! Ashley Amy is my new favourite writer- and I'll always have tissues on hand.
Amazing! Loved how the story came together and played out. Not a story for the faint of heart does include kidnapping, violence, drug use and abuse of varying degree. The main character goes through so much but still has a caring and forgiving heart.
I cried, I cried, I laughed and I got raging mad. This book was a journey and one I think more people should read. The reality of trauma and the strength of love all wrapped up into one! I can not wait to see if more will come from the ones who were saved .
This was so sad but so good. It definitely hits you in the feels when the characters start getting into their feelings about Maze or one of the boys. Ashley did a great job with this story 10 stars!!!
Her writing gets better and better.... this story 😱 I have no words. It was everything. Insane, but real. I love how she captures that and brings us back to a realistic ending.
