Every once in a while, I pick up a book for a few cents at a garage sale about which I have little to zero positive expectations, even though the subject is of interest to me. This was one of those. I expected the bandied band-aid, do these 10-steps-for-success formulas and you-too-will-attract-more-to-your-door-by-learning-how-to-program programs.
But Chapter 2 rocked my world. It's called "Praying for Others," and there is a bit of trite advice, along with the obligatory heart-warming-here's-how-we-build-a-huge-campus anecdote. Yet the reality that Jesus wants us to know him in prayer shines through. Yeah!
So: if you want to, take Kallestad's advice, "if you are not willing to build your personal life and ministry around prayer, you might as well close this book and read no further"(69). Amen.
It's pretty good advice, even if you decide to finish the book like I did.
