An excellent paranormal romance that was exciting, romantic, entertaining and very satisfying to read. It had me anticipating what would happen next many times over, so much so I could not put it down and even finished it up in a day. The vampires in this book were different from your average vampire, but I enjoy different variations and changes to the same old stuff. It made for a more unpredictable read and more adventurous to explore! Vampire lovers, any paranormal readers and even those who love the romance genre will enjoy Honeymoon Bite.

Anne is a sweet, trusting and beautiful woman that just desires what many other women do. A happy marriage, family and a loving and loyal husband, alas, it’s not to be this way for poor Anne. The evening of her wedding she finds her husband in an intimate situation with her best friend. Tired of him and his infidelity, she takes the planned honeymoon trip by herself and lands in another situation that no one would ever ask for only to be saved by a man that now haunts her thoughts day and night ever since. Now alive more than ever, she chooses to actually live. She’s stronger, more determined and practically invincible. But her journey for happiness is a long way from her grasp. She has many new cravings and rules that stop her from taking exactly what she wants. Especially when what she wants is from her dream man.

Marcus is a centuries old vampire that has a true warm heart, a romantic soul and a yearning for his fated. When he finally finds her, he’s stricken with grief that his fated, the woman he’s finally found lays injured, close to dying. Determined to keep her alive he makes a quick decision to change her to be like him and hopes with all of his being that she will grow to know, love, trust and respect him as her fated. At times Marcus came off as overly obsessed with Anne, but I guess considering he’s waited as long as he has, it’s warranted. After all, Fate is something that's meant to be and he knows he's a very lucky male to have a chance to experience it.

Lies, deception, unfaithfulness, so many twists and turns in the journey for happiness and contentment between the two main characters. But the chemistry that flows between them is undeniable and something to be cherished, for all eternity :)

This is an original review from http://bookedandloaded.com - I received this title via the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.

Honeymoon Bite by Sharon Hamilton is the first book in her series, the Golden Vampires of Tuscany. This paranormal romance focuses on a traumatized bride and an unusual solo honeymoon that changes her life.

Reviews like this are painful for this reviewer. No joke. I finished this audiobook several weeks ago and I knew it was going to be a tough review, but I have to fight through and persevere to maintain what I want to this site to be about. Honesty. And I honestly did not like Honeymoon Bite.

I think that the general story line was a great idea, but the execution of this story just fell short. So many dreadful tropes were injected for no apparent reason and served no purpose in moving the story forward.

Anne seems scared and intimidated by Marcus and his pushiness even scares her, yet he bullies her into meeting with him. Marcus also visits Anne cloaked and invisible to “pleasures” her as she thinks it is her imagination. Of course, this is all justified that she is fated mate. This seemed to really push my comfort level and I didn’t really understand why it was needed in the story. I don’t think it added anything other than a factor of creepiness. Chemistry between characters should not come from just the damn sex or physical pleasure. And don’t me started on the moment of glowing genitals. Normally, I would probably soften this blow a little, but this was a LOL moment where there should NOT have been one. WHY! It served absolutely no purpose to advance the story whatsoever and no fabric was laid out for this event being anything other than random.

These issues are not the only ones I had with Honeymoon Bite either. Anne’s husband (or non husband?) cheats on her on their wedding night and that is only the beginning. I had a hard time grasping that Anne worked volunteering as an advocate for abused women and yet was completely fucking oblivious that her fiance was a complete womanizing man-whore. AND that she continues to pacify him in many ways like she is responsible for him. I did not like this dynamic at all and his exploits that we learned about in Anne’s story – again – I don’t think advanced this story or would have effected any of the bottom line. Pretty sure cheating on your bride launches you into total loser category and no further explanation is needed.

LIES. I hate lies and even lies by omission unless extremely detrimental. Like..if I reveal who I am, I get murderized. I get those, but Marcus lies about things A LOT. Anything he things Anne should not know, he just leaves out. I don’t think there was one single male I liked in this entire book. Even when one of the male vamps becomes her best friend, I still felt completely turned off by the relationship. Because even he, in the beginning, creeped her the hell out in a completely bizarre scene after she was being “examined” (intimately) by the vampires….

I KNOW there are a lot of people that enjoyed this book. Maybe I am picky about what comes off as romance, as I need the sex to be hawt and make sense. I didn’t find it sexy or romantic at all.

Audiobook thoughts: This audiobook is narrated by J.D. Hart. This part of the review is even HARDER. It becomes very hard to judge the voice of the book without taking into consideration the content. I think J.D. Hart did a fair job. Certainly not one of my favorites, but overall I think that he did a nice job with the characters and executing the story at a steady pace.

Check out my other listens at Eargasms Audiobook Reviews

Just before writing this review I perused other reviews on Amazon and Goodreads to see where my opinion falls. Things are mixed, there are many who loved it and some like myself who did not. I kept being confused by the fans, maybe they saw something I did not. Hey it happens, there are plenty of books out there I did not like that became best sellers and have millions of fans. This is simply my two cents as an avid reader.

The concept as outlined in the blurb is great. I was really intrigued by it and excited to read the story. I really liked the idea of Golden Vampires and wish that had been fleshed out more. I would have loved more world building. Things are very jumpy story wise. There are a lot of side stories going on that take away from the main plot. I think this book could have done with major editing down of the story.

It would have been great to have more of the struggle Anna faced as a new vampire with out any guidance. Perhaps even go into how she felt about the people she drained while feeding. That felt glossed over. It almost seemed as though she were not bothered by those deaths, which bothered me.

The story telling is non-linear at times and a little tricky to follow in audio. One moment I am in Tuscany then I am at a flashback of a gangbang the groom had before the wedding, then right back to the present. Several times I had to rewind the audio to figure out what happened. It was very distracting and confusing as a listener.

The main story is about Anne and Marcus but that gets muddled with scenes in the POV of side characters. I just never got a proper handle on what was happening. Too much information coming from too many directions. Then when they finally did get together it was kind of a snore-fest. For all their heat and attraction things should have gotten combustible.

Most of the steam happens with other characters or in a dreamlike state. Not exactly appealing. I like my romances hot and smexy, but will pass on reading a scene like the bachelor party night cheating menage. Not my kind of sexy. Cheating is always a hard limit for me.

The narrator, J.D.Hunt is fantastic and really the biggest reason I kept listening. His yummy deep voice with a hint of rasp helps draw the listener into the book. He has a soothing and enjoyable tone, steady pace and great voices both male and female. I will definitely be looking into more of his narrations.

This is one of those books that I really wanted to like, especially after reading the blurb. It just never connected for me as a reader/listener. There are however many here who loved it, so if you come across a copy and like vamp reads you might give a go. This is the third book I have read from Ms Hamilton and have come to the sad conclusion that our aesthetics do not mesh. While I often love her blurbs and cover art, the stories never resonate. But this is the beauty of art/literature it is purely subjective. Things I did like other love and things I love others may hate. I am one opinion among many.

Disclosure - I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions and ratings are my own.

I’m a huge fan of Hamilton’s Guardian Angel series so of course I had high expectations for Honeymoon Bite. However, I admit I didn’t like this book as much as her others.

It had its good points, don’t get me wrong. It is an enjoyable read with all the steamy sex and deep passionate love I’ve come to associate with the author’s style.

But I felt the story was lacking in a few areas. First, it took me a while to get into the story. The first few pages hooked me in immediately – the author has a real talent for that – but then it quickly got boring. I felt the first eight chapters could have been cut out because it was mostly back story about Robert and Anne that trickled throughout the rest of the book anyway. Then there is the invisible oral sex with Marcus that left me feeling a little bit uncomfortable. Oh, it was very well written – but Anne didn’t even know what was going on. She thought she was just horny. She didn’t know who Marcus was at the time and to me…well…it made me wonder if it could be called rape…if Marcus had ever told Anne, which he didn’t.

I could easily over look both those elements and still enjoy the story. What really made this book not as good as the author’s other books in my opinion was the vampire world and mating rules fell flat and because the whole story was based on Marcus and Anne trying to follow the rules of the vampire council so they could legally (or traditionally) be together meant the plot fell very flat too. There is very little explanation of how the vampire world works. It’s clear that the author took the time to make her vampires different from the traditional undead type, but then fails to explain much of what the rules are other than the fact they frown on adultery. Two thirds of the book was about Marcus’ need for Anne’s ex-husband – who she technically was never married to in the first place because she didn’t sign the paperwork – to vocally renounce his vows. In my opinion, things would have been a whole lot more interesting if Anne was legally married to the bastard and had to figure out a way to convince him to file for divorce.

The plot didn’t really get up and going until Marcus’s ex-girlfriend Maya tried to have Anne framed for murder. But all that lasted for about four chapters and then was over.

I don’t want to give this a low rating though because overall it was well written and I think Hamilton’s fans will like it for what it is; a steamy erotica with a lot of blood. Hamilton has a talent for writing some damn good sex with a dash of immortal love, but alas I look forward to her third book in the Guardian Angels series far more than the second book of the Golden Vampire Legacy.

Wow what a fantastic book! When Sharon first emailed me requesting that I review her book I didn't know what I was in for. I had never heard of her and didn't know anyone who has read any of her books. Boy am I happy I gave her a shot because I was extremely surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. It even made me cry and that never happens. lol

Anne catches her just married husband in bed with the maid of honor on her wedding day so she decides to go on her honeymoon alone to work through some of her obvious problems. Little did she know her problems are about to get a lot worse. She is attacked by a female vampire and almost died but she's saved by Marcus, our hero. Marcus is a golden vampire meaning he can walk in sunlight. He instantly recognizes Anne as his fated mate and almost looses her when he had just found her. Since he changed her to save her life without the permission of the council he is not allowed to make contact with her at all for 31 days so she has to adjust to her change all alone. And this is one of the things I loved about Anne's character she isn't scared or whiny through the change she actually embraces her new powers and finds enjoyment out of being a vampire. Because Marcus and Anne are fated they have a very intense attraction to one another making this a super spicy read. I got so emotionally involved with these characters that I actually cried in several places in the book and I never cry when reading a book. So I would say her character development was right on. Not only did I fall in love with the two main characters but I either loved or hated all the characters with a passion.

Overall this was a great story with lots of twists and turns that kept you in suspense throughout the story. When you think things can't get any worse for Marcus and Anne it does over and over again until you doubt there's going to be a happy ever after ending but everything is nicely tied up into a little bow in the end.

I highly recommend this book to paranormal romance fans. This is a must read at a great price on Amazon for your Kindle. There is some graphic violence in this book so if blood and guts make you uncomfortable I would avoid reading this book. I look forward to reading more books by Sharon Hamilton soon.

I jumped at this recommendation and I just... I was so bored. The synopsis sounded amazing, but the execution left so much to be desired. Too many sub-plots that have nothing to do with the main story, details get glossed over, world-building is little to non-existent, and characters are just one-dimensional.

I absolutely loved this excellent paranormal romance that had everything in it that I so enjoy. It was steamy, very sensual and romantic, with lots of excitement throughout that kept me spellbound wanting to read more. I had great difficulty putting this book down. I loved the different twist and spin that Miss Hamilton put on this excellent vampire love story that I have not seen in other vampire stories.

Our heart throb hero is Markus, a 300 year old Vampire that is so gentle, kind and sweet you will want one for yourself.

Anne, our Heroine, is a wonderfully sweet and kind woman that is devastated by the infidelity of her brand new husband on the day of their marriage. Anne decides to go off and enjoy her honeymoon without her new groom which lands her into a predicament that perhaps only Markus might be able to assist her with.

It takes a great author to bring me to tears, and Sharon was able to do that with this amazing love story. So, fair warning... make sure you have lots of kleenex handy, you will definitely need them.

I cannot wait for the next issue in this series by Sharon Hamilton!!

I don’t even know how to review this. - I debated on how many stars to rate it the whole time I was reading. I started at 4 and then it was pretty obviously a 3, but then I started debating if it was actually less than that. So yeah 2-3 was a toss up. I really wanted to at least give it a 3 because I didn’t hate the plot, but it was just a mess, honestly. Some continuity issues, some random things that weren’t explained, and then other things that need much more detail. (My biggest issue was the Marcus/Anne reunion. For as much of an issue that separated them was, none of those issues were really ever discussed or resolved. It was just like “meh”.) I just... I don’t know. It took me four days to finish, it was a struggle. But like I said, the story wasn’t awful so I tried to stick it out. I’m glad I finished it but I wouldn’t read it again, and probably wouldn’t try anything else by this author.

It was free, at least.

Non-stop sex

I'm a huge fan of supernatural romance books. I never realized before how important the non-sex scenes are. For huge portions of the book, on every page someone is either having sex or bursting with the need for sex. It takes away the sexiness when it's constant. The main character is a human who is turned into a vampire, and she is so desperate for her sire (and him for her) that he never bothers to tell her almost anything about his life (including entanglements that affect her), or how to be a vampire. He doesn't teach her how to use her new powers or what the rules are, according to the vampire council. The ending was interesting, but overall the book was disappointing.

I read 30% of this story and just could not finish it...and I did try. Unfortunately, I can only give this story 1 star for the portion that I was able to read.

The character dialogue is hokey and the story feels trite. I don't even know why the reader needed to know about the gangbang with Monika or that Robert was a drunk man-whore. I just found no redeeming qualities in the story as it was presented.

I love good vampire stories and I'm always on the hunt for them so I was greatly disappointed that I did not enjoy this one.

Not sure about anyone else but the thought of a guy being invisible watching me in the shower just because I'm his mate and he is horny is creepy. Like really fucking creepy. Then he talks about how he is glad she laid down to bed and went to sleep or else he might have violated her?!? I don't know what the hell the author was thinking when writing this but it is messed up to the max. Avoid reading it.

I was in the mood for a vampire story and this one was free on Amazon yesterday, so I dove right in. It was good, but I felt it lagged a little bit and I started to click through pages looking for something more. That's why I did 3 stars.

To be honest, I plan on marking it "to be read again" and hopefully I'll like it more next time. But the price was right and it was worth reading.

Didn't Finish !

I had had high hopes for a good read - a bit of escapism on a dull rainy afternoon. It wasn't meant to be though. What a waste of time. This book was so bad I couldn't bring my myself to finish it! Absolute Tosh !!

Did not finish.
It was really really bad. Dropped it at 10% or so, after mounds or breasts or something were mentioned thrice on one page and then the "thigh covered in pale flesh" just killed it for me. Awful writing.

I will start that this story is well written and is full of drama. It hasn’t been my favorite book that I’ve read for the challenge but that is because I’m just not a vamp fan but I do try them every once in while. But if you a vamp fan I think you would love this book. There are lots of different threads of action running through the story. And the drama continues to almost the last page. I listened to the audio copy and the accent of the voices was very well done. So if you are looking for a new vampire series I think you would enjoy this one. #CMCon24

I received this book as a prize from one event Sharon Hamilton was taking a part.

To me this book is story of betrayal, love and hope.

After facing betrayal on her own wedding day Anne goes to spend her paid honeymoon in Italy alone leaving her soon to be ex husband back to US. While finally starting to enjoy her vacation she is attacked by a woman and soon after that she starts to see that she no longer is the same human woman she used to be.

Marcus believes finally finding his true mate but she is almost ripped as soon he had seen her from his future. Breaking rules he saves Anne and makes sure she is safe again.

But like in real life, nothing is ever so easy when there are things Marcus had left untold to Anne, which might make her rethink of her decisions.

Side characters were well written and made me want to find out more about them and reasons why they were doing what they were doing.

I found this book to be really entertaining and it had me believe I was in the heroine’s shoes, which in my books is always a good thing.
While reading this I found it almost impossible to put it down from my hands.

It made my heart beat at times really fast, there were times when scenes were so intense that one would need to cool herself to continue reading more.

I can’t wait to read more of these kind of vampires. Hopefully I will see more of characters who were just side characters in this book in much bigger roles.

"Help me find the true love of my life. Help me bring to him all the love that still lives in my soul. Please let me remember the magic and power of this place. Anne."

I loved it! It's full of emotions from the start to the end! I don't know what people want to expect but this story was different to the other vamps book I read!! As soon as, I open the book and read the first paragraph I was intrigued by the hot, steamy sex scene and the betrayal on her wedding day but it didn't bother me, it made me more interested in the outcome of the story than focused on the erotic scene. Well, it was a bonus!! I loved the Golden Vamps... They were mortal at certain age and turned at their request. I loved Marcus... He's a very respectable man, loyal to his family and friends and Anne.. she was heartbroken and found love and lost it again for this conniving and vicious vixen but at the end LOVE always prevail!!

Two thumbs up for Marcus and Anne!! They were good together!

3.5 stars rounded to 4

Honeymoon Bite provides a unique take on vampire lore. Main character Marcus is a golden vampire. Golden vampires can go out in the day. They are born human and choose at puberty to remain human or become a vampire. Anne is a human woman whose husband cheated on her during their wedding reception. She decides to go on their honeymoon to Tuscany by herself. Marcus sees Anne and knows right away that she is his fated mate. After another vampire attacks her, Marcus turns her into a vampire. The book is very erotic although the couple does not really have sex until after the 50% mark. I listened to the audiobook and did not really like the narration. I did not like the accent used for Marcus or his siblings. I used Kindle/Audible whispersinc and I enjoyed the parts I read much more than those I listened to. I recommend this book for readers who are looking for a unique twist on vampire romance.

This was the first Sharon Hamilton book for me, I wasn't sure what to expect. A modern day romance about vampires, that it was, but it was so much more.
I fell in love with Marcus from the first, how could I not, a tall, dark, sexy vampire, who was completely trust worthy or was he ? Marcus had been waiting for his fated female for three hundred years, and was about to settle for his regular bed partner, when a chance encounter with Anne had him changing his mind.
Anne, poor love realised on her wedding day just what a man she had married, and what a mistake she had made. Dumping the groom she decided to still go on the honeymoon to Italy, and there her life changed forever.
Oh what a mess, this story had lots of twists n turns, was a real page turner, I could not put this book down, had me reading till the early hours.

Enjoyable, entertaining and exciting
This is a very well written love story with some good vampire characters. Good interplay between all the cast members. Even though this may be the first book of a series, it is a self-contained story. I can see where other characters can play off this book and have their own stories written. I love the HEA concept and what lengths people or vampires will go to insure the safety of their loved one or true mate. I loved the concept that all children born from vampires have the choice to either stay human as there are born or become a vampire. New and very original concept in a vampire book. I was given an audible book by the author thru a book party. This is one of the first audible books that I felt was done very well by the narrator. Most could use two voices, one man and one woman. This narration did not need that.

Anne catches her new husband cheating on her, on their wedding day. With her head held high she goes on their honeymoon alone. Deciding to walk around she stumbles into a church where Marcus is currently setting up his fating. But how everything changes when he smells her. He knows she is the one. After she is attacked Marcus changes her to vampire and makes sure she knows they are fated. This is a great romance story with a little action and suspense. However I could not believe no one was upset, besides the council, over the real father. The last few chapters are condensed so you don't feel you are missing anything. But I wish it was more spaced out like the rest of the story. WaAR

The steam overwhelmed the story.

A wedding interrupted by infidelity left Anne alone on her honeymoon trip to Tuscany. Left to die by a vindictive vampire, her life was saved by her fated vampire mate Marcus. Anne and Marcus could have had a beautiful eternal life together if not for Maya, the vampire who tried to kill her and was determined to keep them apart any way she could.

The plot of this story is interesting but it’s constantly interrupted by steamy scenes to the point I almost quit reading several times. I like romance as much as the next reader but I wanted to read a vampire story and it was hard to stay interested after a while.
