I think this author has written some of the most interesting, clever and addictive sci-fi/ monster erotica stories that I have recently read...
For instance this story. Seven is a prisoner in a human pet zoo. Her whole life is a simulation that is reprogrammed every few years. Her neighbours are all prisoners living also a simulated life.
The aliens who protect the zoo are scary bloodthirsty monsters, but they still try to preserve human life since Earth has already been destroyed.
So, what happens when the director of the zoo notices disobedient Seven? Very very interesting stuff LOL

Before I get to my review, I want to advise potential readers of two things. First, this book is the third in the trilogy; while you needn't read the first to understand this, it does help to have read Interstellar Human Petting Zoo since this entry begins where that one ended. Second, most of Ms. Renard's books are uneasy blends of sci-fi/fantasy & BDSM/DD. I say "uneasy," because those elements mesh together more seamlessly in some stories than they do in others. For sci-fi fans, the serious themes (in this case, simulated reality and consciousness, as well as anti-totalitarianism and colonization) can seem diminished by the explicit, over-the-top sex. Conversely, lovers of erotica might be taken out of their fantasies by the more sombre concerns. To complicate this even more, there's Ms. Renard's trademark snark and pop culture references: “Nobody expects the scythkin invasion." While these reactions, of course, are entirely subjective, if this uneven tone doesn't bother you, I recommend this trilogy highly as it is well-written and really does make you think.

Unbeknownst to her, Seven has been stuck in an artificially induced reality run by aliens her entire life. Thanks to a note that her friend left her in the previous book, Seven decides one day not to kneel -- as all the humans must do daily -- and stands up. This bold anti-fascist move lands her in hot water with Krave, the "alien" bureaucrat assigned to discipline/reprogram her. The book details their growing relationship as the two must overcome a seemingly irreconcilable conflict between her new awareness and his mandate. As the plot takes on the structure of Groundhog Day -- Seven keeps reliving the moment when she discovers the note; Krave keeps wiping her mind so that she'll forget -- we, as readers, wonder if it's possible for the oppressor and the oppressed to get an HEA.

Positives: I liked Seven: like most Loki Renard heroines, she was strong and incorrigible, yet had a certain moral code. I did not initially like Krave, who like most Loki Renard heroes, tries -- and fails -- to tame her (I didn't like how he treated her after their first sexual encounter), but he softened pretty quickly, elicited my sympathy for his predicament, and more than redeemed himself at the end. Usually I prefer the h's to the H in these books, but, by the end, I liked the MC equally and appreciated that they accepted the other as they were. As always, I enjoyed Ms. Renard's humor, detail, and world-building.

A few negatives: Their relationship is insta-lust and insta-love; a lot of the prose is repetitious (we hear several times about why humans are special); I really don't follow exactly how this artificial world was created; and I didn't feel the plot was as strong as in the first two books -- probably because the h wasn't in as much danger. Finally, I could have really done without this: “Prison is a punishment. For bad people" -- tell that to all the poc serving sentences because of draconian drug laws.

4 stars.

Note: I adhere to the ratings system as laid out by Goodreads: 2 stars = it was okay; 3 stars = liked it; 4 stars = really liked it; 5 stars = it was amazing. I gave this book 4 stars because I liked the MC and the worldbuilding, though felt the plot was less strong than it might have been. I do not think that every book I read is "amazing;" further, I think that it cheapens the rating system to always assign 4 or 5 stars. If a book really earns the 4 or 5 stars (and I realize that this is, to some degree, subjective), I'll give them -- but it certainly shouldn't apply to every book. YMMV, and everyone should enjoy/rate these books as they wish.

Additional Note: I did not receive this book as an ARC; I'm not another author who hosts or is hosted by other authors in this genre on our websites; and I'm not friends with the authors IRL, "friends" on this site, or friends on any social media site.

If it isn't already obvious from my reviews of the other 4 books that currently involve the Scythkin, these are some of my favorite reads. They are short, hot, have interesting concepts about time in them, revolve around the Scythkin—a delightful nightmare species of exaggerated human traits wrapped up in knife skin with eyes of fire—and are so full of sharp and hilarious commentary on humanity and our condition. Humans Must Kneel continues in the same vein and does not disappoint. If you already love these books, you will love this one. If they are not your thing...this one won't be either.

If you can be jailed for breaking the law, then your freedom is conditional, and if your freedom is conditional, then it isn’t really freedom.

SNAP.

Both by volume and based on page count, I highlight more out of these stories than any other ones I read.

This isn't his story, but I think Tyank may be my favorite of all. This brood is just so much fun and the fights? Oh my, the fights.

“This clown,” Vulcan sighs.
“He looks up to you,” I remind him.
“He has to. He's short.”
“Not too short to rip your dorsal fin off and shove it up your…”

I feel your pain, Tyank. We little ones are just so full of anger and aggression.

Absolutely brilliant

Funny, profound, poignant, steamy. How can such a short read be so many things? You have to read it to know.
Best book I've read this year and I can't wait for the next one!

So Humans Must Kneel I was excited about since the other two stories were pretty good. Humans Must Kneel us to a simulated world where all humans are told to kneel, every day, while they are doing their daily chores. But when one human decides to bulk against the machine, what will the aliens do?

Krave watches over these humans, and no one has found a way out of the simulation. Until Seven. The one who has decided not to listen to the system. When Seven finds out that her whole life has been a lie, she fights Krave.
Krave is very attracted to Seven and isn't sure what to do about it. So he does what any man would do. He takes. But when things go wrong, will Krave go begging for her forgiveness?

This alien has been brought to his knees!

Three words bring Seven and Krave on a collision course « THIS ISN'T REAL ».
One human, fractured by those words starts to see thru the illusion of her world and will not bend or break when rebellion forces her to ignore the call for all « HUMANS MUST KNEEL». And so she is brought in before Krave her judge, jury and……lover? But all is not smooth and circumstances force seperation and resets. But Krave cannot stay away from his little human and as a result becomes everything human in order to claim his mate, but his basic alien nature is dominant and cannot be denied.
These moments in their relationship spark revolt, new beginnings, new societies and worlds, lust, love, humor, a big bang and a love that defies species, time and space.
A great mix of heat, chemistry, humor, lust, love, sex, characters and a great storyline!

Humans Must Kneel is the 3rd book in the Possessive Aliens series and can be read as a stand-alone.
I encourage you to read Mine (Possessive Aliens, #1) and Interstellar Human Petting Zoo (Possessive Aliens, #2) before Humans Must Kneel as Loki Renard is an amazing storyteller.

Krave and Seven's relationship is hot, hot, hot! There is spanking and erotic play along with learning to trust and falling in love. I adored this book and can't wait to read Cave Alien, the first book to be published in the Ancient Earth series.

This series continues as Krave takes over the human simulation planet to continue caring for the humans that were in the zoo.
Seven decides that she will not kneel one day and is therefore sent to Krave to discipline her and wipe her mind. But something bizarre happens and he ends up caring for her, but wipes her mind and sends her back to the simulation.
I love these possessive, over the top aliens and the humans that will bring them to their knees!

This was such an interesting read. Who would have thought an alien romance could have me pondering the meaning of life, the order of time & also laughing so hard I snorted. Krave is pure Alpha. Seven is hilarious. She’s going into my favourite heroines of all time.

Another stellar hit in the Possessive Aliens series! Seven and Krave make a page turner of a story. Seven’s rebellious side caused a scene which Krave cannot have in the simulation so he sends for her. When she arrives Krave is surprised at his reaction to this little human female and even more surprised by hers. They are both strong and opinionated characters which makes for a very entertaining story. Loved everything about it!

Nah

Not for me. This book had a really interesting plot but the follow through was obnoxious, it could’ve been decent.

Female lead finds out she’s living in a simulation. An alien race is in control of this simulation in an effort to keep them alive. Can be likened to a zoo situation. Female rebels gets taken out of simulation meets male lead Krave. Krave is your basic alpha “do as I say, I control you and everything blah blah blah” alien. So upon their first meeting they end up having sex then he talks about imprisoning her and she’s all upset because she thought having sex was going to make a difference. It didn’t... but then all of a sudden as he walks away from her in her cell and ponders her, he decided they’re mates and he’s in love with her?? What? So fast forward and he’s had to mind wipe her 3 times and he thinks he damaged her in the mind wipe, and instead of leaving her alone in the simulation he tries to become a part of the simulation because he realized he’s obsessed and “in love” with her. Then in the final attempt for him to “woo” her she tells him she knew all along who he was and ect... now when the hell does this occur? Bc in her inner monologue she was confused and acting like her regular mind wiped self. That part made NO SENSE. When did she get these memories back?? This book was dumb. I wasn’t a fan of the inner dialogue of both characters. Krave continues to refer to the humans as “meat suits” which sounds gross and got old.
Characterization: super confused at how the author described the alien component of what they looked like. It was confusing because she said they were made of blade skin, claws, fanged mouth, and horns... I don’t understand the whole component of blades for skin and then it’s all easy to get cuddly and such. Honestly, not an appealing description of what these aliens look like. Female lead: annoying. So she is a chronic drug user who literally searches for her high upon her first return to simulated earth. Not a fan of how she’s characterized as a drug addict. So in the beginning when she’s pulled out of the simulation he spanks her as punishment and oh! Surprise surprise she’s turned on by it and then they engage in sex... so she literally finds out her life is a lie, there’s a scary alien race holding them captive in a zoo like simulation and she’s jumping on his D like they’re soulmates?? Dear author, do better.

this is like a teaser sci-fi starter pack … aliens, human society simulation, time travel, murderous baby aliens, combat martyr murderous baby incubator … but not a lot of it fully explained, maybe by design? we’ll learn more in the other books?
but it certainly had a lot food for thought …
my first thought on finishing this was: reads like a well-intentioned, yet not quite successful, soufflé (sunken middle, but still delicious and hilarious!)

Another fantastic addition to the amazing Possessive Aliens series, with everything a fan of alien Sci Fi Romane could want. In this third installment of the series we meet Krave, the Scythkin who is charged to oversee the human colony in a universe where Earth and humanity no longer exists. In this human colony, all humans are kept in an artificial world where humans were showcased as if they were in a zoo. The Scythkin, an alien race, took over and now want to preserve the humans that remain. One way to instill obedience and order in this artificial world is by making humans kneel at a certain time every morning. Seven is a defiant human woman who refuses to kneel. What starts as a simple act of rebellion turns into a monumental event that shatters all the falsity of what Seven believed was her reality. Seven’s act of defiance lands her in the hands of Krave who cannot understand why he cant stay away from Seven, even when his superior more evolved race views humans as a simple backward race. Though Krave knows he should not succumb to Seven, the attraction between them is inevitable. Once they have a physical bond, it is almost impossible for each to stay apart even if Seven is taken away. I enjoyed this book and read it in one siting. I cannot wait for Loki Renard’s next creation.

WTF?

Did I just read? It started out good with an interesting premise. The heroine has a kind of like-able character but having sex with an alien in the first hour of meeting him is not believable, even for a sci fi book. The story made little sense. I couldn’t finish it. I want my money back.

I probably liked this one about as much as the last one. I enjoyed that Krave was a very dominate alien that delighted in the submission of others, but that made me hate it all the more how much of a damn sap he was with Seven. He even cried at one point! That is such a turn off.

Since the last book, the Sythkin have taken control of all the exhibits but really only care about the human one. Krave was put in charge and the only thing he really forces upon the humans is to make sure that they kneel every morning. Because that's where they belong. We met Seven last book, and she's starting to feel like something is amiss. Not only her memories of her roommate, but she found this slip of paper telling her that it's not real. And she just can't let that thought go. Which leads her to an act of rebellion that has her being taken and dropped into a hole into the ocean.

She ends up before Krave who informs her that he is the highest authority and he's going to break her for her disobedience. From the moment these two meet there is no denying the lust between them and they act upon it pretty much right away. What I liked about this book was that these two actually worked with this because Seven absolutely craved Krave's dominance and fierceness. So yeah, we got some pretty hot times. What didn't work for me was that from that first time they had sex, Krave was already weakening towards Seven. He was doing things for her his kind would never think to do and giving up pretty much everything for her. Which sure, in reality, that's probably a good thing. But it didn't sit right with me to have this incredibly strong and in charge alien male be reduced to a blubbering human failure.

The ending with the humans was pretty meh. I really couldn't have cared one way or another about what went down with them. But I will say that I hated the Karen character so I'll not ever be reading her book (I don't enjoy reading about annoying, entitled characters even when they get put in their place). Which is too bad because I did like Krave's brothers. I had actually already read the next book with Vulcan a few years ago, and I mentioned in my review of it that I didn't think it was necessary to read these three books first. I stand by that, but now that I have, a lot more does make sense. And I did like his book more than these first three too.

This was a pretty awesome read considering it did not go the way I thought it would. From reading the description I thought this would be the normal submission tale with the normal punishment themes. I can say it is not, and I am not in the least disappointed.

Seven lives in a simulation that has been set up for the human population by aliens because Earth has been destroyed. She was left a note that jars her out of the brainwashing, there never really is an explanation as to how she gets this note although there is a suggestion that her room mate might been the one. No real answer as to what happened to that room mate though.

The story revolves around Seven waking up from the brainwashing program and deciding to not kneel when all humans are suppose to. She is then taken to a control area where she meets her alien. He is described as being this very prickly being who likes to kill things. So far it is being set up as if the story will follow the normal defiance/punishment theme but then ... it just never really follows through other than some spanking and a little dom play. It was nice and didnt take away from the story at all. It helped to keep it a little more light hearted which was great for a change of pace. The brothers added to the story and I honestly could have done with a bit more interaction with them. It did pick up near the end and was a very normal sibling rivalry scenario.

I dont like to give the story away but everything was decently explained, it wasnt just sex scene after sex scene, there was definately a semblance of a story and it wrapped up into a nice happy ever after. I’m looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

If you read, “Interstellar Human Petting Zoo,” then you know about Seven and Krave. Seven was 42’s friend. You knew this story was coming. Seven may have acted like a ditz but she actually understood what 42 was telling her. For this one you are going to have to strap yourself in. This is a journey beyond anything.

Seven is starting to remember. Well not remember but starting to believe what her friend 42 left for her. To resist. And boys does she. I love the spirit in Seven. I thought she was going to be an airhead but nope she is a fighter. Krave really has a fight on his hands. But when the chemistry takes hold of them, sex is off the charts. It is hot and steamy. But enter a twist. Krave has two clutch brothers with him: Tyank and Vulcan. Each has a very different personality. Tyank is the “runt” of the clutch. Vulcan is the one with the “suave, smooth” attitude. The aliens aren’t supposed to mate with the humans. But you can’t fight fate and love. Krave learns the hard way what happens when you do. I do love the little aspects like Men in Black memory erase thingy. And we also have a new person in the mix, Kar3n. Oh I can’t wait to read her story.

Seven Won't Kneel

I enjoyed this book in the Possessive Aliens series by Loki Renard. This one had humor, battles (sometimes in the family), discipline and human, Alien sex that is hot as hades. Broodkins to Krave the firstborn are Tyank and Vulcan who argue and have some seriously funny fights over who is in charge even though Krave is and is firstborn. Seven is the woman that just can't seem to be controlled and also enjoys her discipline a little too much. Seven also seems to think things aren't what they seem to be. Another character of note is Kare3n who will pop up from time to time, but she will be talked about later. The Aliens are Scythkin and are big fighting machines all over their bodies, they are also super hard to kill, but Krave doesn't scare Seven for some reason and it drives him crazy as does his uncontrollable urge to have her at any cost. There is always sassy banter from Seven as Krave tries all he can think of to get her under control, he will make his little human Kneel! Such a fun story and we get another connected story in the new series, Ancient Earth Aliens with Cave Alien I can't wait!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "HUMANS MUST KNEEL" I loved the chemistry between Krave the Scythkin leader and Judiciar over seeing the humans in simulation when Seven is brought to him for disobeying the Humans Must Kneel rule.
Krave has two of his broodkin with him Tyank the youngest hatchling and Vulcan who thinks he should be leader these guys fight amongst one another but are quite funny as well.
Seven accidently sees Tyank and Vulcan fighting and when Tyank almost hurts her Krave steps in angry and she sees the true Krave she's cowering in the corner he's mated with her twice and now knows he has to wipe her memories and send her back to simulation but she's his and he doesn't really want to lose her.
This is the third book in the series and I think the mist interesting so far I really liked the first two books but I think Loki Renard did a terrific job writing this book lived the storyline and the characters were well developed and pulled you right into the story.
I definitely recommend it won't disappoint so well worth the read I can't wait for book four in the "POSSESSIVE ALIENS SERIES"

Love these Possessive Aliens so much

Loki Renard did it again and in my opinion, "Human must kneel" is the best in the series. It can be read as a standalone, but this series is so good. I recommend starting with " Mine" and "Interstellar petting zoo".

In "Human must kneel", we meet Krave, who is a Scythkin. At first, he appears intimidating and scary, but the more we get to know him, he is actually very caring, sweet, smart and devoted. I love that he accepts right away that he falls in love with the heroine and will do everything to protect her. Seven (the heroine) is also a bad ass, rebellious yet very funny. She is a good match for Krave. Their chemistry is off the chart, over the top and oh so hot. Krave is probably the sweetest male Renard even wrote.

The story still contains typical Renard's style; Alien, Alpha, Spanking. What really amazes me is the depth of the world building which Renard has crafted. It is really fascinating and a unique world. It talks about time(in a scientific quantum way), universe and so much more.

I give this series, especially this book a solid FIVE star.

Fantastic and Funny!

WOW! This is another phenomenal book by this really amazing author. This story is intense, funny, fast paced and very hot and steamy.

Seven is a very feisty and witty. For some unknown reason she feels that it is time to resist the higher authority in her world that demands she kneel everyday. Seven's resistance causes a chain of events to happen, changing her life forever. Seven is a fighter and doesn't go down easily!

Krave meets Seven (as he needs to punish her defiance) and doesn't realize that he has a fighter on his hands. He quickly realizes that Seven is different and he loves her spunk and her fighting spirit. The chemistry between these two is slow building but very intense. When they finally come together, it's hot and very steamy. These two were made for each other! The push and pull between them is funny and sexy! I loved every second of Krave and Seven's story.

Fantastic writing and storytelling as always. I love reading all of Loki's stories. She brings us readers on thrilling adventures to unknown worlds! I can't wait for more.

This is the third, and maybe my favorite, book in Loki Renard's Possessive Aliens series. It can be read as a stand alone, but the whole series is wonderful so I suggest reading them in order. This story is about Seven and Leave. She's a human, he's the alien overlord. Since one of my favorite things about this is the original story line, I don't want to even hint at what it's about. All I'm willing to say is that the twists and turns, hidden secrets, surprises, and sexiness this story has makes it a must read. I love the complex characters, the detailed world building, and the HEA. I seriously couldn't put it down! With that in mind, I'm going to recommend not starting this one at bedtime with the idea of only reading a chapter. I tried, failed, and finished at 4am. The utter exhaustion was totally worth it, though. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, no one does sci-fi romance like Loki Renard. She has an imagination that doesn't stop and her storytelling is top notch. I'm already anxious to get my hands on her next book.

It’s an ordinary day in the life of Seven, just like any other, until suddenly it isn’t. For some inexplicable reason, she chooses to disobey the daily directive: “Humans Must Kneel”. Her civil disobedience quickly escalates into consequences she couldn’t have anticipated – namely an attitude adjustment provided by one fearsome Scythkin overlord. But Krave’s never met such an argumentative human. Who will come out ahead in this battle of wills?

I loved Seven’s intellect, bravery, and snippy attitude. Her excitement at the prospect of punishment led to some extremely steamy encounters with Krave. I enjoyed this Sci-fi romance, but found it dragged a bit for me in the middle. Despite that, the story is well written and the characters are engaging. There’s plenty of humour, and drama, plus a few surprises along with plenty of steam.

★ Winning mix of scorching heat, a lethal alien predator, and the feisty human who refuses to obey ★

—>>> We definitely have a situation here…Krave, first of his clutch of Scythkin warriors, does not expect the snag in his routine simulation in the form of a tiny and insignificant human female who commands his senses and interest.

“I’m going to question your responsibility, your honor, your morals, the way you fold your towels.”

“You are a disobedient human”

I don’t respect him. He is an invader, a persecutor, a jailer.

This human drives me wild with the instinct to mate and conquer.

The storyline is a winning mix of scorching heat, lots of disobedience and feistiness, a lethal alien predator, a feisty human female who refuses to obey, alien/human social commentaries, and an intriguing cast of secondary characters we hopefully will get to read about next in this series!

Humans must kneeel....lmao

It has taken me more than 3 months....not because I didn't like it but because to get in the right headspace to read this particular book took time...so every so often I read a little more til I finished.

Krave is by the books leader because he is the first in his brood and is responsible for his broodkins and the humans. Seven is not who she pretends to be... because someone left her a note that triggers her disobedience.

Throughout this book, Krave and Seven build a relationship and realize that each is looking at each other through their own lenses and their own thought processes.

I will say this is pretty much how life is, you dont know better til someone points out that things could be better and they wht you think and believe is not necessarily wrong but it could be better.

Kudos to Loki...for making me confusion from the first word, but by the end of the book, I understood Krave the most.
