A Dreg life is worth less than nothing in the Eiliterrati Kingdom. But I have a secret; a secret that will get me and my sister killed if it's ever discovered. I carry the Fatal Curse and the Fatal Curse can mean nothing but torture and death to a Dreg and their entire family. I could hide the Fatal Curse; in fact I have hidden my curse for most of my life; or the part of my life I remember, but when my temper lands me in the sights of the Roya Tripsett; Prince Sarkany, Prince Leo, and Prince Taraz I soon discover that the Fatal Curse may mean that I am not who I always thought I was and that not only have I put my and my sister's life in danger but I may destroy an entire Kingdom.
Just like everyone else in the world (except politicians and the entire Kardashian family), Willa Hart hates talking about herself. Seriously, what's she supposed to say? That she's the most talented author in the world? That Liam Hemsworth, Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan are knocking down her door for the honor of starring in the big-screen adaptation of her latest romance novel? That readers get into hair-pulling, kidney-punching, nipple-twisting brawls while standing in line to buy one of her books?
LIES!
Just like every other wordsmith in the world, she's certain everything she writes (including her own bio) sucks big, fat, hairy donkey danglers. But deep down she hopes and prays YOU are just a little bit delusional and think she IS a great writer, that Liam, Zac and Michael would be idiots to NOT want a part in her movie, and that you'd twist every perky nip you could get your fingers on just to LOOK at her new book. Of course, she's not holding her breath, but...can't a girl dream?
Very enjoyable and entertaining read and a great introduction to the series. Definitely let me intrigue and wanting more. So I'm totally looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
Generously giving this 3 stars. I don't know what I was expecting, maybe more of the world building/history of the place this takes place, or I'm not even sure what I was expecting. This fell way short for me. I think a new reader would be lost reading this & end up not picking up the series. I read book 1 first, then happened to see this was available, so read this prequel next before starting book 2. This highlighted some of the details that were a mystery in book 1 about the children all ending up orphans sort of thing, it was all based on the adult characters in book 1, but as children (maybe 7 or 8 years old). Because the character development is of the main characters as children the content is not very involved, because children that young wouldn't be well developed as a character yet, and it also jumps around from child to child (6 children), giving a bit of a backstory for each one, you really don't get a feel for those children, and can't feel invested in them or understand where they are headed (without reading book 1 first). I would highly recommend that a new reader read book 1 first or you will end up passing on an enjoyable series.
Forbidden Mindslayer is the prequel for Willa Hart's newest series, Mindslayer and it's a reverse harem, I am so ready for it.
This is a fantasy series thus different and difficult names but it comes with the territory right. In the Eiliterrati kingdom, the elites are called Eiliterrati and have mind-reading powers and while the lower class are called Dregs and treated very poorly and I think there are supernaturals about but Willa hasn't gotten into that yet.
Since Forbidden Mindslayer is a prequel I don't want go to much into the story yet so my basic feelings are, it seems like an interesting story that has mystery, political intrigue, danger, and magic. While I am still trying to get my barrings in this new world I am quite interested to see what has become of the main character Meela and her little sister Huali, in the first book in the series, Forbidden Power.
Meela is a little girl who lived in the woods with her mom, dad, and little sister Huail. Until one day both girls were left with no memories but each other and working and a laundry place in a bad city. The only good thing was the girls meet and boy named Jix. Reason and why you will just have to read lol
Eliterrati kingdom The Triplett prince's Leo, Taraz, and Sarksny are the sons of the Royal Queen Really and her kings. The boys lives were perfect until one meeting their mom and fathers went on. The boys lost so much but their uncle gained so much. Wow what twist and turns this story took. I loved the characters and couldn't put it down. I am hooked and can't wait for the next book. Don't miss it
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! This was a great book ! This is a prequel, so keep it mind that this more like a setting the stage kind of book. We learn the differences between the elites and the not elites ( Eiliterrati vs Dregs ) We get to meet the two sisters, Meela and Huali. They start this new series. Loved the characters + the storytelling ! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
This was a great introduction to the series. It introduces us to the world that Willa Hart has created and to the characters when they were children. This story definitely pulled me in and I want more. I want to figure out exactly what happened and what is going to happen next. I can't wait for our 2 sets of main characters to actually meet and for things to really get shaken up. I am super excited to see more of this world and figure out what is going to happen next. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This prequel gives you a bit of insight to the characters of the mindslayers series. I liked getting the background knowledge of the characters. The book is told from multiple POVs when they were children and only a couple chapters long. It really is just a quick glimpse of what leads up to the first book. I wish we could have gotten more background information on why the fatal curse is such an issue though.
Oh goodness what a start to Willa Hart’s new series... This one grabbed me in my feelings. The anxiety I felt for Meela and her sister grew as I waited to see their world fall apart. The only blessing was the new friend they discovered. Meanwhile, the Roya Tripsett have grown up loved and sharing a trifecta of gifts only to have their world torn apart. Can they find a way to move forward in the chaos when they question the loyalty of all save themselves?
WOW, this short prequel is amazing. It sets up the Mindslayer series perfectly. So if you started the first book and have questions then you need to read this prequel. We meet Meela, Sarkany, Leo, Taraz, Jix and get their backstory. I was reading along and then bam it was over. It kept me intrigued with the supsense, mystery and seeing the betrayals that will be coming. I cannot wait to start book one.
What a great introduction into the Harem of the Mindslayer series. A quick read on the set up of this series. I would highly recommending reading this before book one. If not you may have a few questions that are answered here.
We get to meet Meela, Sarkany, Leo, Taraz, Jix. We get to dive just a little into their backstory. This is a prequel so be prepared to get all interested in the story and then bam, we need the first book.
This one really punched me in the feels. Like the description and writing is awesome, I felt everyone’s emotions. When a book can get me teary, and just be the start of the book, it’s doing something right. Meela’s story is heart breaking, being in one of the boy’s POV when they hear of their parents is heartbreaking. I can’t wait to see where this goes. I read this one first before the other novels so I’m excited to see how this works out.
What a sneak peak into an interesting and intriguing story. I found that I flew through this prequel and went instantly looking for book 1. The premise is entertaining and it gave me lots a feels. Loved the short start and definitely had me looking forward to the start of a series, which is the one reason I don't mind reading prequel novellas.
Forbidden Mindslayer was a short intro that left me in tears. I was reading along getting introduced to the characters and finding out about the world that Meela and her sister live in. And the wham, breakout the tissues! Now, I have to read the rest of the books. This is the prequel to the Harem of the Mindslayer series.
This prequel sucked Menon immediately. It was a great setup to the series. I like how it was narrated by different characters and allowed you to see what was going on through each one. I am excited to dive into this series just based on this prequel alone!
I like the idea, has potential. I usually like the sneaky mind reader character in most books, so all the characters being mind readers should be good. Short prequel, good intro and multiple POV. No favourite as of yet but its probably gonna end up being Jix.
This story will pull you in and raise so many questions you can't help but continue to read to find out what happens next. Wiila Hart does some Great world building with this story. I freely reviewed this book.
Short and packed full of information. This is a great foundation of what led to the events in the series. You find out how each important character got to where they are when the rest of the series begins. If you’re wondering if you should read it before the rest of the series, the answer is yes!
I really enjoyed this I introduction to Meela, Jix and the princes, it's a good background to the characters. It's really intrigued my interest as to where the next book will take them. I also love the mind reading element of the characters.
This is a book that once you started reading it you cannot put down now I have completed this book and I’m about to finish reading the part one and I need the next book part two it a great series he characters are so vivid very likable that it’s hard not to like them It’s a must read series
What a tantalizing tease of what surely is an exciting series as we are introduced to Meela and the Roya Tripsett, and Jix. So much emotion packed into a prequel and I can’t wait for the full story!
This prequel novella is a promising start to a new series from Hart. I absolutely loved her last one and have full faith that this series will surely become another favorite of mine.
What a interesting story! Had me in tear's then laughing at Meela and Jix...quite different from what I'm use to reading but like I said interesting and can't wait to see what happens next. I really enjoy this author so onward!!
There’s not much to say except this seems to be an interesting start to a series. Well edited, with interesting characters, I’m looking forward to the series, again not much to say because this is just a prequel.
This is a short introduction to what I'm hoping is a longer series. It feels like it's a back story and it has me intrigued wanting to know more about the characters!
I’m not a huge fan of prequels but I really enjoyed this one. It seems that this series is going to be very different from others I have read. I can’t wait to see what happens.
Short introduction to a new series packed with so much energy that really grabbed me and made me want to read more. After reading this book, I'm excited to see what happens next in this new series.
What a wonderful introduction to a new series. You get to meet everyone and find out how they were before everything changes. Can't wait to start the next book!
This book got my attention from page one. The characters are very interesting and the storyline is intriguing. I cannot wait to see what happens to Meela and Huali next!
