She's his best friend. While the war rages around them, that's all she can be. Or is it?
With the war against a deadly enemy coming to a head, K'ver scientist Sa'lok lives for the moments he's assigned to work with human pilot Teisha.
She's smart, funny and level headed. Nothing would make him risk their friendship.
But when their closest ally is betrayed, she's thrown into unimaginable danger. And his reaction to Teisha's peril isn't just wanting to protect his friend.
It's the rage that comes with a threat to his mate.
Teisha loves three things: her sister, her sister's kids, and speed.
After her promising career in linguistics was destroyed in the Xathi attacks, she became a pilot, helping the Alliance forces however she could.
Well, there might be another thing. Person. Sa'lok. This just isn't the time. And he probably doesn't like her that way. Not like that. And the end of it all can they win the battle, but still lose their hearts?
Sa'lok is the eighteenth book in the Conquered World science fiction romance series. Each book features the romance of a new couple, with alpha male alien warriors and women who don't put up with their nonsense. No cheating, no cliffhangers, HEA guaranteed!
hands down favorite pair. they are best friends. and i'm totally down with the sexual tension, bad ass women pilot/linguist, sassy, teasing, hot alien man ass.
don't @ me okay? it's been a long quarantine so far and i'm just exhausted being in this house.
Human pilot Keisha is best friends with K'ver scientist Sa'lok. As the war with the Ancient Enemy is coming to a head Sa'lok just lives for those times when he can work with Keisha. She is smart, funny and level headed - his perfect partner - but there is nothing he would do to threaten his friendship with her. however, when one of their closest allies is betrayed and she is thrown into unimaginable danger his reaction is not just wanting to protect his friend but the rage that comes when a mate is threatened. Teisha loves her sister, her sister's kids and speed and so when her promising career in linguistics is destroyed when the Xathi attacked she became a pilot helping the Alliance forces whenever she could. But actually, there is one other person on her list of people she loves - Sa'lok. However, now is not the time and for all she knows he doesn't like her in that way. Can they win the battle and each other or will there be a worse loss for them?
I really enjoyed this story where they were not able to admit something that everyone else could plainly see. I loved the way that they did everything they could to protect the other even though they pretended that it was just because of their friendship. I loved the discovery of the language, the similarities and the logic involved in the discoveries. It was so nice to see that they were able to move past the evilness, that love played a large factor in that plus they finally had the time and opportunity to have the HEA they so richly deserved. This was the last book in the series and for that I will really miss them all. Well written, easy to read and contains explicit sexual content.
Teisha & Sa'lok a perfect ending to a solidly good series. 💖
It's been a long wild ride on the planet of Ankau. I don't want to give too much away but I love the confrontation between the puppet master and the Ancient Enemies and how the fate of the entire planet and all who live on it truly resides between these super powerful entities. Among all of this action Sa'lok a K'ver who is an excellent warrior but has the heart and mind of a scientist is tasked with finding a cure to save the humans from the possession of the Ancient Enemies. Teisha is an expert linguist turned pilot she's been helping the warriors of the Vengeance, their allies and friends since the war with the Xanthi. This is how Sa'lok first meets Teisha when she's flying supplies from one town to another. They develop a close relationship that turns into best friends that blossoms into true love. The problem, both are workaholics who are afraid to ruin their friendship by possibly discussing love. A series of dangerous events forces this couple to face their feelings and admit their love for one another. Is love the force that needed to defeat the enemy? You'll have to read this thrilling ending to a great series. Awesome job!💖
Let me start off by saying that this book has a truly unique plot. In 2000 books, I’ve read in my lifetime, I’ve never read anything like it. Having said that, most of the books did not have a lot of plot development. They happened every few books or so. The couples would meet and fall in love within 2 to 3 days and suddenly they’re all life partners which I find extremely hard to believe and doesn’t allow you to get to know the characters as fully as You could/should. So I hope she works on that. This book set could’ve been so much more than it was. As I previously mentioned, the plot was unique, and I would have loved to see more of it In all of the books. My chapter review is below. Negative means little to no plot development and plus equals plot development. And the plus and minus mean there was a little bit of plot development, but not a lot. Are you confused?
- 1 to 8 + Book 9, 10, 11, 12 - book 13, 14 +15 +- book 16, 17 + book 18
Sa'lok was a very intense book to read. Definitely had it's nail biting moments. There's so much chaos happening but good things are also happening to be able to fight back.
Sa'lok and Teisha are best friends and trust each other with their life but their feelings begin to change into something more. Teisha is such a likeable character. Sweet and funny, always teasing and joking with Sa'lok. She's not afraid of danger and overall I thought she was quite endearing. I really loved Sa'lok too. He was so sure of their friendship but then had to admit to himself that Teisha was much more than only a friend when her life was threatened. He was very protective, funny and caring. They were perfect together. I am so attached to all the characters in this series and by now feel like I know them all. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.
This is the last of the Conquered World series (and yes, you should read the others before reading this one), and I think Elin did a good job of wrapping up the series. There is still room to visit again, but there aren't any really lingering plots to be concluded from the series.
I thought Teisha was a great heroine to end the series on. She was spunky and brave, but didn't intentionally push too far beyond her abilities (she pushed but nothing she couldn't conceivably handle). Sa'lok was a good match for her, as much scientist as he was warrior. Although much of their friendship was built in the time before this story, the way they interacted gave a good feel for how they were as friends and a good basis for their relationship to progress beyond friendship. This was actually one of my favorite stories in the series.
I can tell when an author starts to lose the passion for a series. The first thing to go is the kickazz aspect of the characters. The harrowing situations arrive a lot faster and finding a way out takes way too long on purpose. Keeping them dealing with that situation takes up a lot of the word count thus less creativity and brainstorming is needed. It also makes for plot holes and an unsatisfying ending because of all the questions left. However, I have to give a bow to Wyn's steadfastness at giving just about all the characters a HEA except for Teisha's sister. An 18-book series is nothing to sneeze at and this one is most certainly intriguing enough to keep you turning the pages even when you'd rather throw in the towel. I should know, I just binge-read all 18.5 books back to back.

Sa' lok a scientist always looks forward to spending time with his human best friend who is one of the best pilots. She is witty and sassy and he wants more from her but is afraid to ruin their friendship . ..but when they find their lives in danger Sa' lok will do anything to protect his mate.....
Enjoyed this series. The characters (alien males and human females) were getting to be predictable, though. The battle between the Puppet Master and the Gorgaxians grabbed the reader's attention but needed to come to a conclusion. Elin Wyn knew just when to tie all the loose ends up. Yes, all good things must come to an end...and it was time for this series to do just that.
Elin Wynn has become one of my favorite authors. I've read most if not all of her books and can highly recommend her stories. I'm sorry to see this series end. Her characters are down to earth and relatable. I also enjoy her humor. I know were talking aliens but they are sometimes more human than humans. Love they're sexy and open to love. I couldn't seem to put it down and now it's 1am and I'm have to be up at 4. Read this series you won't be sorry. 😊
This was a LONG series but absolutely worth reading. I loved the characters and actually felt very sad to read the last word. The imagination to invent the puppet master was fabulous and very unique. I think this is now my favorite series and one I will definitely read again and again! I do wish however that we would have seen the anti-alien groups be defeated. Overall though… fabulous!!
Couldn't wait to read the ending of a wonderfully created planet with mixed species and really bad bad-guys. The relationship between the starts off the story was clean and warm. They start as friends and go on from there. It's refreshing to read a story with intrigue, action, and romance and it all melds. A great read!
What a ride of emotions with so many twists and turns in this story but love every moment of it? Every book in the series was packed with so much action, adventure, drama, evil aliens tiring to take over the world, and steamy hot romance with awesome characters. Definitely a five star series and highly recommended?
Why I had not read most of the last books in this series. I could not stand the premise of this series. The first few were logical enough. But then last ancient enemy storyline was not good. Luckily authors other series did not take this route. Because I would have not read any books by author
All good things must come to an end, and this was the last book in the series. But man, what a book! There was a lot going on - it was really hard to put down. And the conclusion was absolutely perfect. Without a doubt, the Conquered World series is one of my favorite series of all time! The characters are fresh and interesting, and the world building is amazing.
I have enjoyed reading this series and looked forward to each new book. It's very sad news that this book is the end of the series. Please consider writing more in the future.
Best series in a long time. Can't wait for Skin's next series
Skin has a way of making all the characters come to life in situations that are believable. I read all 18 in this series plus all of the StarBreed series. Can't wait for more books written from the imagination of Elin.
This was the first series that I have read from Ellen. She has an excellent imagination, she was able to address some of the issues that we are facing worldwide while keeping the story line entertaining.
Elin Wyn has an unbelievable imagination! I binge read this entire series of 18 books over a three week period. The plot was outstanding as the story continued throughout the series! Wonderfully written!
Teisha is a gifted pilot and linguist and her best friend is Sa'lok. Then the two run into trouble finding ancient inscriptions underground and rocks start falling.
