Christmas wishes come true in New York City… or maybe not.
After a demanding career of living out of her suitcase, Sophia lands a dream job in New York City that will keep her in one place for six months. Being alone in a big city is nothing new for her but not during the holidays. When an irresistible jeweler appears in her life more than once, Christmas surprises pop up on every corner.
Drew loses his creativity and holiday spirit just when he needs it the most. Then a snowstorm blows Sophia into his jewelry store, and a surge of inspiration follows. He is used to handling precious gems but nothing as priceless as she is.
Even though they just met, their instant attraction turns into something more. But one event leads to betrayal, leaving Sophia once again alone and brokenhearted.
Can the magic of Christmas bring them back together, or will one of them be left in the cold?
Kristina Beck was born and raised in New Jersey, USA, and lived there for thirty years. She later moved to Germany and lives there with her German husband and three children. She is an avid reader of many genres, but romance always takes precedence. She loves coffee, dark chocolate, power naps, and eighties movies. Her hobbies include writing, reading, fitness, and forever trying to improve her German-language skills.
It's Christmas season and the best place to be is in front of a fire, hot cocoa in hand, and a feel good, hopeful story to cheer you up.
S&S is just the right story to cuddle up under your blanket and read. It's filled with sweetness and warmth like candy and mulled wine. I was swept away instantly as Sophia Krose meets Drew Devlin. It was serendipitous and romantic train of coincidences that lead to them bumping into each other again and that's a sure sign for them to get serious. Sometimes Cinderella does need to lose her shoe to get the prince!! She's in NYC on a temporary work thing, he's a jewellery designer and his sapphire, shaped like snowflakes catch her eye and then his heart
“That day when the snow blew you into my store, I knew then that my life would change.”
Synopsis: Sophia has taken a 6 month teaching position at Cornell University and is quite excited about living in New York. When she runs into a jewelry store to seek a little shelter from a storm, she encounters sexy jewelry designer Drew. They have a sweet moment, but when a phone call interrupts them it looks like that's the end of that.
When Sophia meets a ball of energy named Lacey, it turns out her brother is none other than Drew. Maybe fate is trying to tell them something??
- ”Is there some cosmic force pushing us together?” “If there is, I don’t mind.”
Overview: - Trigger warning: none - Setting: New York City - POV: Dual POV - Tropes: Insta love, Christmas
- Who is the Hero? Drew (31). Jewelry designer for the family jewelry store, Devlin Designs. Artistically, he’s been in a bit of a designing slump but he needs to come up with something spectacular as they are trying to seal a deal with a jeweler in Germany * The following words/phrases were used to describe Hero: creative, sweet, sexy, under pressure to create something magical, caring soul
- Who is the Heroine? Sophia (32). From Germany. She is a linguist who studied at Oxford and has a gift for learning languages (she currently speaks 10 different ones) * The following words/phrases were used to describe Heroine: bold, intelligent, beautiful, business savvy but not necessarily street smart, amazing
- h virgin? No - First time they kiss: 30% - First time they sleep together: 74% - First time they say I Love You 90% - steamy? they have chemistry, but the bedroom scene is behind closed doors - OW/OM drama? No - H/h cheat? No - Time apart? No - Did I skip pages? No - Big secrets? No - Did I cry? No - Did I laugh? Not really - Did I swoon? Drew does some sweet things - Cliffhanger? No - HEA? HFN - Epilogue? None - Recommend? it was a short, sweet story
- ”There’s something magical about the atmosphere here. Like all my dreams can come true.”
The following are my thoughts about this book: - I immediately liked Sophia. She was quite naive about New York criminals 😉 and her first scene and interaction with Lacey was a really good introduction to her
- And speaking of Lacey, I could so relate to the "klutz" aspect. She was a whirlwind of fun. I'm really looking forward to her book.
- I'm not usually a fan of insta-love, but I definitely felt their attraction. They had good chemistry
- I read this in March, but I "felt" like it was December. I've never been to Rockefeller Center at Christmas, so I loved being immersed in the New York scene at such a wonderful time of year.
- The Christmas cookie bake-off was another great way to really “feel” the spirit of Christmas in this story
- the brother is a jerk. I felt bad for his wife.
- I liked that the characters had uncommon careers. It set them apart from the typical romance stories out there and made them feel unique and special.
Quotes “He could’ve sold me a bag of used cat litter just with his kind hazel eyes alone.”
“Her smile alone would be worth waking up for every morning.”
“My cheeks are so hot that we could bake cookies on them if there weren’t space in the oven.”
“I just melted like butter. I might be an expert in several languages, but the language of love has never been one of them.”
Christmas in New York City. A feel-good festival story with a touch of shimmer. Sophia is visiting America on business. She moves around a lot and when the opportunity for a six-month stay in one place came up she couldn’t turn it down. Little did she know New York was going to steal her heart and her shoes.
While ice skating Sophia is rescued by a new friend, Lacey who works in a famous department store. The jewellery isn’t the only this that catches her eye while she’s sorting out her shoe situation.
Drew is a designer of exquisite jewellery. A passion he shares with Sophia. Her stay in New York is supposed to be short but with new friends, a special connection and a beautiful view, Sophia might just fall in love with everything the place has to offer.
This is a sweet story. It’s set at Christmas but the magic is in the jewellery. Sophia was an interesting character and Drew stole her heart.
This is going to be part of a series and I really liked the way Sophia fitted into the environment. This book made me care about more than the two main characters and I look forward to more.

This new release by Kristina Beck, Snowflakes and Sapphires, 1st book in the Four Seasons Novella Series- Winter, is a fun, flirty Holiday romance that is both sweet and sexy.
Sophia is missing her family back in Germany but is so excited to be living in NYC for a 6 month teaching position. While investigating her new city, she ducks into a wonderful little jewelry store to escape the wicked snow and cold only to find a shy, handsome man behind the counter that has captured ALL of her attention. Everywhere she turns, Drew is right there... again!
Can love at first sight be found on a snowy day in the middle of New York City? Read this slow burning story, with a splash of drama, that is sure to put a big, warm smile on your face during this busy holiday season. More stories to come with different characters and seasons, one for each of them. Next up- Spring, of course! Stay tuned...
An early copy was generously provided and this is my honest review of it.
What a gorgeous story, just as beautiful as the cover! I've read every book by Kristina Beck, and each one just gets better. Well written, with characters you'll fall in love with, and set in New York at Christmas - what more could you want?!
Sophia and Drew are made for each other, but Drew's sister Lacey steals the show, in my opinion. I just loved her character and her quirky one-liners. The story draws you in from the beginning, and has you rooting for Sophia and Drew to overcome all the obstacles in their way and find true love.
I highly recommend for lovers of romantic Christmas stories that warm your heart!
It didn't occur to me as I was reading that it was a Christmas story and it was January. I generally don't read them outside of the season, but would highly recommend this at any time of the year.
It is also a lovely romance story, and I enjoyed the characters and the humour. It was also an easy and entertaining read. I loved the storyline and to me, New York is a magical place anyway, so when the characters were in Bloomingdales and the Rockafella Centre, I soaked up the atmosphere and felt I was there too.
I’m always stuck like glue from the very beginning when it comes to Kristina’s stories! This was a sweet and adorable story, and it was full of Christmas spirit, my favorite! Can’t wait for the next book in the series!
A heartwarming cosy romance with lovely characters. Short but full of beautifully written scenes. I don't read many romance stories but the gorgeous covers for this series drew me in, and the writing kept me interested, can't wait to read the next book!
A nice little Christmas-romance. Unfortunately, the writing style was a little bit wooden and the characters missed some depth. Therefore, some of the developments didn't feel very natural and I didn't really feel with the characters. So, all in all, two stars from me.
I just adore Kristina's books and the covers? Always so gorgeous. This is the first book in "The Four Seasons Novella's." I immediately fell in love with these characters. Sophia and Drew's story is so heartfelt and sweet and their chemistry? (fans self). I very much enjoy books based on the holidays. This one especially, has you in the Christmas spirit and feeling the magic that comes with this holiday. Once again Kristina drew me into her story and I was hooked from the start. I went through so many emotions as these characters experienced them. I can't wait to see what the next novella brings us and fingers crossed it's Lacey's. She was a fun character to see develop and I'm rooting for her HEA.
Sweet holiday story. Sophia has my dream job! I always wanted to learn a bunch of languages and interpret for companies all over the world. I never got there, but I'm so happy so can imagine it in this book with Sophia. Drew is a jewelry designer in New York who has lost his inspiration. Drew and Sophia meet because of snow and keep finding each other in the big city of New York. I really loved Drew and Sophia as characters, they had the best qualities I look for in a hero and heroine. These two were so sweet together and combine that with the magic of New York during the holidays and this book is a home run!
Snowflakes and Sapphires is the perfect read for the holidays. Sophia and Drew had great chemistry until family and self-doubt came into play. I was rooting for the two lovebirds the whole way. I look forward to the other novellas coming out this next year.
What a wonderful and heart-warming story. It just came to me in time when I needed to be uplifted. Lovely Christmas love story settled in New York. Sophia, a linguist! (I feel I could befriend her, although the fact that she speaks ten languages could be intimidating, yet she's my kind of girl ;)), comes to NY from Germany for work and is planning to stay there for six months. One snowy day she tries to hide from a snowstorm and enters one of the stores... I will tell you no more but the story unfolds in a very interesting way. The plot has quite lot of turns of events and the characters (also background characters) are well designed, interesting and very likable. If you want to experience a snowstorm in NYC and learn what snowflakes and sapphires have in common, I encourage you to read this beautiful winter novella right now, when Christmas is round the corner and its spirit is in the air. What I'm happy about is that Kristina Beck announces that Snowflakes and Sapphires is going to be the opening novella of The Four Seasons Series and we can expect another one already on Spring! What a great idea! I'm looking forward to reading all of them. So, take this opportunity, read the Winter part right now and wait with me till Spring :)
Sophia is in NYC because she is an expert in her field and is asked to teach at a university there. Drew is in an artistic slump without a muse to stir that creativity before he and his brother need to present fresh jewelry designs before a new client. A snowstorm gives them a chance meeting, and the Christmas spirit seems to keep pushing them together. But one misunderstanding could ruin everything.
It was really a lovely story for the Christmas season, a little on the sappy side, but that's what we're looking for at this time of year. I thought the story was sweet and didn't even mind that the coincidences were a bit much. I always love big family affairs, and he happened to have just such a situation, which was one more thing to draw her in.
The only real problem I had with it was that I could tell Drew was being written by a woman. Male voices are difficult to write from a female perspective, and he was a little wishy-washy for my tastes. But since this is a Christmas story, it didn't bother me as much as it might have had it been any other time of the year because there wasn't enough of a difference between the voices of the characters. It was a sweet Christmas read though.
Christmas is a magical time of year because anything can happen. This book taps into that ideal and adds its share of magic to the holiday season. The first book in The Four Seasons Series, this Christmas magic takes place in New York City, where Sophia has taken a job for the next six months. While exploring her new city, the wind and snow propel her into a lovely jewelry store where she meets our hero, Drew. It seems like love at first sight, but more than just the impending blizzard conspires to thwart their new relationship.
This quick but heartfelt and compelling read is one I hated to see end. I love every one of the characters, who quickly made themselves at home in my heart, and I want more of them! Drew and Sophia's romance is one that makes the heart smile and happy sigh, and the backdrop for their story is breathtaking. You absolutely won’t want to miss this magical, heartfelt holiday read!
Sophia has relocated to New York for 6 months for her job. A huge fan of Christmas, this time of year is hard without her sister near her. When she meets Drew, an incredibly talented jeweler, there's a connection, but he has pressing matters and she has things to do. Sophia's time in New York didn't start off on the right foot with a random stranger, but she's learning that there are good people out there in the big city.
I loved the connection Sophia had not only to Drew but his family. They welcomed Sophia with open arms and made her feel at home at a time of year when we're missing our loved ones. While this is set at Christmas time, I feel it's an anytime read, especially now as the cold of winter is settling in upon us. This was a fun story with excellent characters and while it is going to be part of a "seasons series", it's can be read as a standalone. Excellent characters with a fun setting, I can't wait to see what Beck has in store for this series!
Snowflakes and Sapphires by Kristina Beck is the first book in the Four Season Series. It's a heartwarming and feel-good holiday romance.
Sophia Krose has a demanding career and travels around a lot. So, when she lands a dream job in New York for six months, she couldn't be any happier. She was exploring the city when a snowstorm forces her to enter a jewelry store where she meets Drew.
Drew Devlin is a jewelry designer who's lost his creativity and holiday spirit. Then he meets Sophia in his store, and it changes everything for him. Their instant connection and the way their story unfolds is so sweet.
It was my first book by this author. I really enjoyed reading Sophia and Drew's love story. I'm looking forward to reading more books. I hope the next one is Lacey's story.

New York City for the Christmas holiday has always been romanticized in books, movies and my mind. I visited it around the holidays and always imagined going back to revisit. Kristina Beck captures the magic and the wonder of the holiday season along with describing popular attractions such as Rockefeller Center through the eyes of Sophia who is temporarily living in the United States for 6 months. During one of her adventures around the city, she meets a girl named Lacey who she befriends and Lacey welcomes her into her family traditions. This novella had a great mix of friendship, romance and determination. I cannot wait for the next story of the series to be published in hopes that we see more of Sophia and her life in New York City.
This is a sweet and delightful holiday romance that can be read at any time of the year. Sophia and Drew have an instant connection the moment they meet, a love connection. At first it seems to be just a moment in time, isolated and never to happen again, but Fate or a little Christmas magic keeps bringing them together with an assist from his irrepressible matchmaking sister. Throw in some Christmas activities and a snowstorm that necessitates a sleepover and love blossoms quickly. Yet, every love story has a few bumps and troubles that make a happily ever after all the sweeter.

Sophia and Drew had an immediate and magical attraction to each other. Her sparkling eyes and flirtatious smile mesmerized him and gave him creative ideas for his new jewelry line and romantic ideas for the two of them. Sophia got along perfectly with his family and his sister was pleased to see her brother happy again. Perhaps this was a match made in heaven or possibly a special Christmas wish. Drew usually spent all of his time at work, but Sophia gave him the reason to emerge from behind his desk and enjoy the beauty of the holiday. The sparkling lights of the city were a beacon for Sophia and Drew as they embraced the warmth of the season and the prospect of a future together.
The description of New York City at Christmas made me wish I was there. I could even smell the roasting chestnuts being sold by street vendors as I enjoyed the Macy’s holiday windows. Sophia couldn’t wait to experience all the city has to offer, even if she was only there for a short time. Her excitement and zest for life was contagious and it was easy to see why Drew fell for her. I am so glad that Kristina Beck will continue this series with three more books, representing Spring, Summer and Fall. Reading her new book definitely put the Christmas spirit in my heart and made me smile.
What a delightfully cute holiday story. Christmas time is always magical especially in the snow. Drew and Sophia have an instant connection that quickly grows into so much more. This story was entertaining, Drew was romantic and sweet, it was endearing that Sophia inspired his jewelry collection. It was fun to watch Sophia's personality come out. I loved Lacey and Jocelyn and how they easily incorporated Sophia into the family. The story length was perfect and I was left with a smile on my lips.
This story was so sweet - Drew met Sophia when she practically fell into his store to escape the snow in New York. They met again a few days later and started seeing each other. They had an instant connection, but Drew was under a deadline to make some jewelry for a potential client. His brother was being a jerk and caused trouble several times. Lacey was a sweetheart. The characters seemed so real and I loved all the interactions. A very good story.

Sophia and Drew's story left me feeling cozy and in the Christmas spirit. It also inspired me to make Christmas cookies! My family thanks you for that Kristina 😃 I love the role "fate" played in this one, it lead to the overall Christmas magic this story. I was envisioning Drew's jewelry designs in my mind after the exquisite description of his inspiration and pieces created. I can't wait to see what comes next in this series....
Snowflakes and Sapphires- what a charming read from Kristina Beck! This is the first book I’ve read by the author, and I enjoyed the burning romance between Sophia and Drew. My father was a jeweller for over 50 years, and I loved the nod to some jewellery terms I’d forgotten I knew! Overall, a lovely escape from he COVID-19 world, and I look forward to the second in the series.
This was a first time read from this author and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It is a sweet story with romance and love of family. I really enjoyed Lacey and how she was all over the place. The two main characters Sofia and Drew were so connected and that came across with every word. This may have been my first read by Kristina Beck but it certainly won't be my last.
This is a sweet and sexy holiday romance with strong characters in Sophia and Drew. The story takes place in New York during a Christmas snowstorm and is told in the dual POV. They have an instant attraction which quickly turns into love. It's well written, moves quickly and smoothly and is an entertaining holiday romance.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I was hooked on this story from the beginning. The characters are adorable.....well, most of them! A dreamy romance set in New York at Christmas time; what more could a girl want? I'm so glad Kristina Beck has decided to make this into a series of 4 books; one story for every season. I can't wait to read more!
I absolutely loved this book. This was a new author for me. This book will keep you interested and reading from the beginning to the end. If you believe Christmas is a magical time this book is for you. I highly recommend this book to anyone. Looking forward to reading more books from this author
