Drabbles, or one hundred word stories, are a way for a writer to fine-tune their skills. After reading this anthology, I can say the writers featured have some good skills and fine talent.
The central theme of the book is Halloween. Although many do take place in the forest, some do not... so its fear all around! All kinds of creatures pop up, from werewolves to ghosts to demons. Again, I'm amazed one how these writers can create a cohesive story with a beginning, middle, and end with so few words. BRAVO!
Don't just get it for Halloween... get it for any day!
If your a fan of Halloween Horror fiction then this book is for you. Very well written and has an excellent t cast of authors that participated. Excellent stories. 5 star highly recommended.
Micro fiction is something new for me but I find I do greatly enjoy it. There’s a different air about than even short stories and I enjoyed all the offerings this book had.
Most of these stories I enjoyed a lot despite their short length. They have just enough time to make your spine tingle and I am a huge fan of stories in an anthology having a similar theme, in this case Halloween. It made it feel much more cohesive.
If I had any complaints, it would be that a handful of the stories read a bit too similar and I think a bit more variety would have served the book better. But they were still fun to read.
It’s a quick read and one to put you right in the mood for horror. Certainly worth a read through!
(Full disclosure - I have two drabbles featured in here.)
Forest of Fear is a really fun take on Halloween hauntings. We get a really varied approach with different authors giving different takes on the various Halloween themes.
This is a great way for people to find new authors to discover and I find reading drabbles can work really well to get people out of reading slumps - as you aren't committing to a full length novel.
A wonderful selection of twisted tales to enjoy anytime and where. If you’re waiting for an appointment or traveling to work you’ll have time to read a few, which will haunt you for the rest of the day. Best not to read them before bed 😉😈🙁💤
The stories in this book are less than one page each. Obviously, some are scarier than others. I was able to read this entire book in 24 hours or less. I feel hungry for more!
