As Evan focuses on rebuilding Hatra, he discovers the project, and the city, are much bigger than he first thought. And things are lurking in the shadowed ruins.
Then a phoenix princess comes flying out of the desert, and she begs Evan to save her people from deadly creatures that have pursued them relentlessly.
Evan’s not one to turn down a beautiful princess, and besides, there is treasure to be found in the desert.
This review reflects my reading experience through all 4 volumes to date. From the beginning this story held my attention specifically because of the extraordinary story line. To mysteriously transport into a fantasy world thousands of years into a past where magic and Demi-humans abound has to set the stage for a great tale, especially if your form is one of a dragon. At every turn Evan, the hero, meets amazing and extraordinary characters that all become integral to the story’s success. The world is superbly described by this author’s excellent skills. The reader feels as if he is a third person viewing the story as it unfolds. I loved the stories, encounters, characters, and adventures throughout. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this series.
Several times in this book I thought ‘why wouldn’t you just....’ and if the MC did what I thought at the time he would have had a much easier time, so it must have just been something done to stretch the story out and provide more action scenes. I don’t usually have these in Eric’s books as they are mostly logically sound, so I must deduct a star. I enjoyed the book but stupidity from a smart MC I can’t take easily.
I’m loving every second of this series, in typical Vall fashion I’m so very happy it’s a very long series just like summoner was… I’m sooo happy. Even though a few books from summoner got mid markings from me but that’s only because the MC at times would deny his heritage while ignoring his biggest assets, his archons until way too late in the game… it was still a phenomenal series… this too is turning into a phenomenally written series. The mystique, political intrigue and twists and turns is sooo good. The romance is good too. Ravi is going to make an excellent addition. Also, I’m glad he’s come to grips about Valerra… one thing that kinda annoys me is the treatment of Laika… I wish he stops having her treat him with such reverence…. I get when they’re in public he’s still Lord Evan and she’s one of his “generals” but she has “status” now… I’m sure the city knows she’s with him, so he needs to have some more pda with her, also all of his mates got a gift except for Laika. I didn’t like that either. There’s unbalance. I really like Miraya…. To be honest I though Kiran was sus… 🤣 so much happened in this book I can sit here and talk forever in this review about how good it was and it’s high and mid points… not really any low points… unless he starts freeing prisoners into the wild… that will anger me 😡😋. Also, I wish the chief took him up on his offer. Onward lads!
I love ❤️ those sexy moment scenes special his harem relationship is growing. As far for other characters are slowly starting to get to know them a little more as the story develops. I wish to know more about the world of Inati and its stories legends and myths. And more sexy scene love ❤️ those as the past books still so good. 😋🐉🐑Alyona is now my favorite character still I dislike her stubbornness hero-complex I hope she changes her mind set and be more loyal to her dragon than her duty to protect I wan to se more action same as laika and the others. 7/10
So the Dragon is getting more powerful and more attracting more attention. This of course means more woman as well. Still i like the way he is taming the red and sees her as his mate which should be fun in the future. Obviously lots of evil machinations are at work and Evan is still figuring it out. I wonder if it will dawn on him why there are so few dragons. Can't wait for more
Sort of a segue to the next phase of the story, but serves to develop the characters and a few magical concepts along the way. Knowing Master Vall, no detail will go unused, and there are several hanging threads here I am interested to find some conclusion to
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Evan meets a new friend and fights in two battles for survival. The story and characters were intriguing and engaging. I look forward to reading more about these characters and their further adventures. This book is definitely worth reading.
Just finished reading book 4. It was cool. I just can't picture in my mind the hundreds of thousands of the enemy creatures being killed in the reading. I mean I know there is magic going on, but his main girl gets exhausted after killing like10-20 at a time by herself. I enjoyed the book anyway.
I really enjoyed this series so far. I hope they continue for a while. I really enjoy the audio with them, so it's easier to listen while I work on other things. The series characters are all so interesting! More for the harem? Any kids coming soon? I'm eager to find out!
I read these books quickly. This is probably my 2nd favorite series after without law.followed by summoner, than metal mage, than succubus lord. The other series i just couldn't get into
The story was a bit different this time, not as much happened. It seemed as there was a lot of setup for the rest of the series. I still enjoyed it. Read it in one sitting.
Like the direction the author is taking the MC and his group. Will be very interesting to see what the newest member brings to the group. Looking forward to the next book.
I really enjoyed the story and characters . What I am not fond of is that we are forced to do at least 100 reviews before we get the next book . It’s becoming more annoying than it is worth.
Excellent next chapter in Gryff's saga. A fight against killer bugs, saving another princess and the Phoenix clan. Gruff is surrounding him self with beautiful and powerful women.
It has a good pace with new adventures in every book, but never loses sight of the main goal. All in all making it one of my favorites done by Eric Vall so far.
