The Fallout: (Escaping Darkness Book 4) - a review by Rosemary Kenny
*slight spoilers*
As death enfolds much of the US in the aftermath of dreadful storms, terrifying floods and other apocalyptic natural weather events, thousands are killed and many hundreds of thousands are struggling against ever-increasing odds to survive, in Mike Kraus and E.S.Richards' 4th book in the epic Escaping Darkness series, The Fallout.
As Mia and other survivors begin to think the worst is over, the Yellowstone volcano or Caldera, dormant for millennia suddenly erupts, spewing forth even more death and destruction with its sulphurous clouds of ash and debris spreading faster than anyone could foresee, let alone outrun.
Mia's world, already uprooted from the 9-5 of her Texas store-worker routine, is turned upside-down as she takes flight in a light aircraft, hoping against hope that her late sister's orphaned children (whom she's adopted), are safe on her parents' farm and that all are protected from the coming devastation. Unfortunately things are not as they seem and never that simple...

With Yellowstone’s eruption, the world is truly a bleak place at the moment. Mia and Jorge have found evidence at the fracking site that is proof of what they expected. Mia is determined to get back home to Houston, but Jorge wants the everyone to know the truth. He wants the fame of letting everyone know who is responsible for the eruption and he wants to make them pay for it. Chase and Riley are still trapped by the Authority.

One if the Best!
This series is one if the best I have read. The realistic issues dtemming from a massive volcanic eruption combined with realistic characters and thief emotions has kept me up late more than one night reading. Five stars for sure!

Short but good continuation of this story. I'm a little skeptical of the suggestion that a faction in the government may deliberately have caused the eruption. Surely there is a better way to gain control of the country than unleashing a lot of variables that you can't control. I also assume that we still follow Patrick and Allie as well as those in Tanner for a reason that will become clear later on. I like those groups so hope we see them again.

Another great instalment
Opens with everyone still separated and seeming like there’s no way out. Chase and Riley need to escape the authority’s prison and get back to their grandparents while Mia is learning the truth behind Yellowstone’s eruption. New characters are added in this story and we find out how they all fit together as the book goes on.

I love this series. I just can’t put the books down and read constantly. Characters are believable and you can put yourself on the pages with them.
