When you become trapped inside of the Killing Jar, you know that it is only a matter of time. Distorted Visions 2 contains nine brand new short horror stories from Martin McGregor that cover diverse topics such as the fifteen-year-old girl intent on saving the planet from global disaster who discovers the final solution to reversing climate change. The office worker trying to get home to his wife late at night alone in the dark, trying his best to stay awake. The tramp with a suspected mental illness who holds a life-changing secret within. Or the creature who uses humans as a vehicle to allow it to remain alive.
There are stories about the global release of an addictive app that has unexpected side effects for its subscribers, and the father out for revenge after the murder of his only child. The secret medical experiment that goes disastrously wrong with members of the public becoming unexpected killing machines or the man trapped in the middle of a hurricane with a secret hidden away from prying eyes who is about to become exposed. Lastly, the tale of a half-human and half-vampire hybrid creature who is hidden away safely by his mother until her secret is finally exposed.
Take a look inside of the Jar and witness the distortions for yourself.
Martin McGregor has studied at the feet of Stephen King. If you are a fan of horror then these short stories are for you. I promise myself every time I pick up one of Martin McGregor's books that this time I'm ready, and each time I've lied.
Distorted Visions was such a great collection of short stories! I always love author Martin McGregor’s dark fantasy and horror tales, and loved reading this, especially right before Halloween! These tales were deliciously spooky and atmospheric. As always, it’s hard to choose favorites. I especially loved the story of the ancient creature who is using human hosts to sustain his own life, and also as a vampire lover, the vampire tale was one of my favorites. I think my very favorite has to be the one that warns of the dangers of social media, with a new app with cray-cray side effects. Will that be coming for us all next? 😊 Loved this! 5/5 stars.
I absolutely loved this collection of horror stories! Each vignette in the collection explores the concept of "horror" in a unique way. Sometimes, a monstrous element creates tension. In other tales, extreme human emotions or natural disasters are the villains and menaces. I highly recommend the book for those who enjoy this genre. The stories aren't too gory, either, so the book is appropriate for those under 18.
