No one is immune to the wrath of bullies and no bully is immune to the wrath of the brigade. Bullies come in all shapes and sizes. Most are obvious while others require closer inspection. As such, bullies can be found anywhere; even in the most unlikely places. Take Principal Turnbull for example. After their last mission of saving Cokey Michaels, The Bully Brigade is confronted by a new threat. When the school gets a new principal, everything seems to be business as usual until the school undergoes radical changes.
Fueled by jealousy and hate, Principal Turnbull intentionally instigates chaos that turns the entire staff on its head and brings misery to the students of Misfit Elementary. Only The Bully Brigade can free the school from Turnbull's wicked clutches. But how can they stop a foe who controls the entire school?
The Bully Brigade successfully helped a classmate escape the wrath of some parents in The Bully Brigade: There’s Something about Cokey Michaels. But now they are facing a bigger problem than they've ever faced before: Principal Strongarm has been replaced! The new principal, Principal Turnbull, is causing division between teachers and students. Silent lunches, job replacements, pay cuts, and more widen the cracks of dissent. However, Principal Turnbull goes further than that. She splits up the Bully Brigade! The Bully Brigade must find a way to join the kids together and show their new principal that kids have a voice. Can they find a way to do that when they aren’t allowed to talk to one another during school?
Opinion: The Bully Brigade: Headmaster Bully is a thrilling book. T.T. Floyd incorporates rhymes throughout the book, which grab the reader’s attention. The book encourages kids to think for themselves and shows that everyone has a voice. The kids have a great spirit of unity, and everyone can learn a lot from that. Unfortunately, the adults don’t always act realistically or professionally, which detracts from the storyline. Overall, The Bully Brigade: Headmaster Bully encourages empathy for others and propels kids to be advocates for what is right.
In The Bully Brigade: Headmaster Bully by T.T. Floyd, Principal Turnbull, an evil principal, tries to fire every teacher except for one, Ms. Lewis. Ms. Lewis is a new teacher and so is Principal Turnbull. They have a lot in common. In addition to being new to the school, they are also the only enemies to all of the other teachers. Most of the teachers use Mr. Funkberry as their leader. He is strange but in a good way. When a gang of anonymous students tries to save Mr. Funkberry from Principal Turnbull, who will win? The Bully Brigade: Headmaster Bully is an excellent book full of different emotions. An example of this is when a kid from “the gang” finds out that Mr. Funkberry is going to be fired but Mr. Funkberry doesn’t know. The kid is very frustrated. The Bully Brigade: Headmaster Bully also has lots of details and great word choices. The author doesn't use the same words over and over again. I wish the chapters were a little longer. There was a new chapter every 2-3 pages. This book is a page-turner and I would recommend it for 8-12-year-olds.
A fun read and one that I'm sure the kids will read and identify with. We've all had to face bullies from time to time and it's great that these kids were not afraid to stand up to a clear bully even though she was an adult and someone in a position of authority. A great read.
