Ever Notice How Life Turns Upside Down When You Least Expect It To?
I was always the good girl. I was never a risk taker. I always followed the rules.
Then along came Rick and Dalton. One night, I was out on the town, when they rescued me. Suddenly, I had two new protectors watching over me.
I thought they were just a couple of regular guys at first. Then I learned what they truly were. It shocked me, but it also intrigued me.
How was I to know my world was about to be rocked? How was I to know they were lion shifters? And how was I to know I wanted them as much as they wanted me?
This wild ride is about to begin and I don’t want it to end…
Her Lion Protectors is a standalone paranormal shifter MFM romance with a HEA and NO cheating!
Ellie is lost. She works hard in her drab office job. She reads, watches movies and does some crafts but she's a homebody. She's not a party animal. But, one night, celebrating with her friend the promotion she thinks she should have gotten, she decides to go to a bar with them. She figured maybe some dancing, a drink or 2 tops, and go home. Instead she is grabbed in an alley and rescued by 2 bouncers. And that was just the beginning.
Spoilers ahead. This was the most verbose book. Everything was talk, talk, talk. I love dialogue but this wasn't gentle leading, hints or a path of clues to follow. This was a bludgeoning by words. Ellie has parental issues and speaks so hatefully of them. She's had a bad relationship, where it seems like it went from verbal and emotional abuse and was quickly leading into physical. She mentioned being grabbed and having bruises but doesn't mention a beating. She doesn't date anymore. She just exists, both at home and at work. Her friend belittles her in the name of constructive criticism. Belittling is the kindest way to describe the verbal beat down she gave her. The book calls itself a menage but, honestly, the 1 is just there to breed kids. The other is a hapless mess. Their first date is a several page rant about parents. The next is the same but about exes. The guys are hiding their dual natures, which isn't wrong, but take a haranguing over it due to a phone call that was listened in on. Her inner monologues do not match the conversations she has. Her parents offered her up as a gift to the pride, without her consent. One minute she's ripping into them over this, the next she's all on board. One conversation with Rick and she's ready to get busy popping out babies. I'm going to ignore the fact that any place people can access they go hiking through, and a giant lion mural (African lions, not pumas) would garner a crap ton of attention. Especially in the age of drones, Google mapping and satellite pictures. Mud hut villages on the plains of America aren't going to go unnoticed. But, all that aside, she just walks off her job, away from her apartment, her bank account, all of it. Jobs will fire you, if they're decent bosses they may put out an alert or have a home check to see if you're ok. If she owned the apartment, less tricky to walk away from, but it would give them a place to stay in the city. Utilities would be tricky, though. I kept reading, hoping, that Ellie would grow a spine, that she'd make her own choices, that she'd just quit floating. It was frustrating. It didn't feel like love, it felt like knuckling under and co-dependence.
This is a great book to read. It does have a slow build to the story but you do get sucked into the story. There is a lot of emotions, and coming to terms of oneself. There is action that takes place and the mystery of what is going on as well.
So you meet Ellie, who is basically a person who does not live on the edge. She has a past that she thinks is a cause of how she is today. She has one friend named Jennifer who really knows her. One night she goes to a club to celebrate with her friend when you life takes an unexpected turn. She meets Dalton and Rick at the club and they pique her interest. She decides to let loose and have fun. She realizes that she wants to know the guys more but is still guarded. So what happens? Does her past come back to haunt her? Will she remain who she is and not do what she is meant to do?
Like I said, this is a slow build to the story but is worth the read. The characters are wonderful and mysterious as you get to know them. I loved the book and always enjoy the journey I go on when reading a book from Lilly Wilder.
***This is an advanced readers copy and also purchased this book.***
3 and a half stars. I must admit this book was a little angsty for me. Ellie seemed to feel sorry for herself a lot and she was very whiny. Rick and Dalton were working as bouncers at a club that Ellie went to and they saved her from a guy looking to sexually assault her. She went out with Dalton a few times, but Rick didn't seem to like her. Then he turned up in her apartment one night and told her she needed to leave with him because someone was after her. When everyone starts turning into lions and fighting in the street she can't believe her eyes. Even more astonishing is learning that the two know her estranged parents and want to take her to them.
I won't go into anymore as you can read it for yourself. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Ellie was too quick to judge and condemn things she knew little to nothing about. She frustrated the life out of me. Hardheaded, empty headed girl. Smh! Ellie drug her feet so much, and it seemed she was on the villain's side because she got Rick attacked. Ellie constantly acted like a recalcitrant child. Her rationale for waffling between the brothers was pathetic and immature. Her inner dialogue made me furious with rage. Stupid chit! Double betrayals!! Bruce and his cohort? WTH? That was a backhanded, underhanded ploy on the co-conspirators parts and less than honorable imo. How could anyone follow that kind of leader without integrity? Read and see. Female characters are sorely lacking.
Ellie is out with her friend celebrating their promotion when she sees to hot bouncers. Dalton and Rick end up saving her from an attack. They both want Ellie however they're not sure if she wants them. Until she decides to date Dalton and then a misunderstanding has her ending things. Yet the guys are there when someone comes to attack her again and this time they take her back home with them. And she learns that not all her parents talked about was wrong. Will they be able to convince her to give them a chance?
This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.
Her Lion Protectors By: Lilly Wilder Kindle unlimited purchase I love lions... This book is an MFM book so I got my lion fix for a couple of days. Ellie at first she is so naive that it is over the top. But I love her as the book gets in it's grove. She is just what my "boys" need in a mate. Rick and Dalton would have liked the book more if we had more about them in the book. We need their POV of events, just having Elliie's POV, I think a lot was lost. Would have loved to see more of the relationship between Rick and Dalton. Them arguing over how to handle Ellie. I still loved the book and going to read more books by Lilly. Lilly if you read this review I ask 1) you write MORE lion shifter books 2) I guess one is a great place to start. lol
Ellie on a night out with friends encounters Rick and Dalton the club doormen. On a reluctant night out with her best friend Jennifer and other friends from work Ellie meets club doormen Rick and Dalton when they save her when being attacked. Unable to forget them she goes back to the the club to see if she imagined the attraction. Going in they ignore her but when she leaves Dalton takes her to a cafe and talk plus exchange phone numbers. Lion shifters had come to the city to look for their friend's daughter and are shocked when checking identification at the door of the club to find the young woman they are looking for. I received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review.
Discovering And Acceptance Of Their Destinies: By Korkoi -
The joy and trepidation I felt whilst eating this book, was enough to nearly cause a heart attack. The story starts out slow, then builds slightly, before rising with anticipation and wonder, to a truly amazing conclusion. This beautifully written story will captivate you and keep your attention, so that you will not want to stop reading once you start. This book definitely deserves to be recommended to anyone looking for a great read.
I received a copy of this ARC and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really like reading paranormal romance. So when I saw this was a MFM, it was right up my alley. I believe this storyline had a lot of potential. The characters had personalities that drew you in. It’s unfortunate that the story moved so slowly and didn’t write from the men’s voice as well. I kept wanting to know what they were thinking. Editing could have been better. Names mixed up a few times, etc. Maybe we aren’t a good fit but I had high hopes.
She had alot of internal dialogue. ALOT. I found myself skipping over some of those parts as the story went on. I just couldn't get thru all the talk about how everyone was wrong, she was right. Her parents abandoned her, her bestie stole the job she wanted, nobody talks to her, ex boyfriend treated her badly. I couldn't stand her whining....
I’ve read quite a few of this authors books, this is now in my favorites section. The characters are fleshed out really well. You’ll hate some, you’ll love some. The story itself, and some of the characteristics of the leads are truly unique. This is a story I had to finish in one sitting. Twists and turns, a very satisfying ending, and major heat. Yeah, why are you still reading this when you could be reading the book? ;) I received an Arc, this is review is my honest opinion.
Rick and Dalton are as different as can be, but so sexy it hurts. But what she didn't know was that they were the very lion shifters she thought didn't exist. So what the good girl do? Hopefully not give them up! This was fun, a little frustrating at times but the story was entertaining and sexy that I had to keep reading.
When you’ve had a very bad experience with a lover it becomes hard to trust anyone. Add in being estranged with your parents .... Luckily going out to a club became very fruitful and exactly what was needed to turn her life around. What an adventure. After the first few pages it became a very good love story.
ARC review For honest review. Ellie chamber grew up with her parents chasing a quest in search of a myth and she always felt abandon . Till one day she meets Rick and dalton lion shifters that feel that they are her protectors so now her last and present come together. Awesome story
Great book. This was a very interesting read, a bit slow to warm up to but it does get good. I'll admit at times the mc frustrated me with her actions, I would have liked her to treat the guys a bit better. Other than that though, I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend for shifter lovers. :)
Could you give up your work and living in the city? Well that was the question that this heroine had to make. The reasons for her fear and doubt, could they be overcome so she ciukd have true love? Read the book and find out
Ellie has no self esteem and spends too much time in her own head. On a night out she meets Dalton and Rick. They save her from an unsavory character and try to get to know her on a personal level. When she finds out what they want her to do, she is not sure that it is a path she wants to take.
I gave this one three stars for a few reasons. First it was REALLY hard for me to get into the story, second, it didn’t keep my attention throughout the whole book. Third I didn’t feel like it flowed very well, there’s big gaps in the plot there were a lot of opportunities to have more detail.
The story was written from Ellie’s POV and was very annoying at times. It would have read a little better if it occasionally was told from either Dalton or Rick’s POV.
Who are Rick and Dalton? Who are Ellie and Jennifer? Why do we find Jennifer grounding herself? I find myself liking Rick and Dalton just chapters into the book. I'm starting to change my mind about Jennifer. Though I do like her trying to get Ellie to come out of her shell. What was Ellie's home life like growing up? What were/are her parents like? Who is Bruce? I don't like him much. What do we learn when he shows up? What decision does Ellie have to make? Read and see!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
There is not a dull moment in this story. from the start when Ellie sees Rick and Dalton her libido comes out of hibernation. She was the intellectual and boring type according to her vivacious friend but as soon as she needs them she takes a walk on the wild side. Her upbringing is a sore spot for her but Dalton and Rick have unpleasant pasts also. Ellie is the answer to their future but will she go along with them when she has to confront her past?
