Secret Identities

Rate this book
It’s not that superhumans are hated, exactly. It’s just that there’s all this expectation— to entertain, to support, but never to stand out in their own right. When William Antonio Caesar III (telepath) decides to create a team of heroes to show superhumans as cool, powerful, and, well, human, he and his friends Ace Jackson (‘sort of psychic’), Xander Pae (master of self-duplication), and Abyss (a literal universe) must figure out who they were, who they are, and who they want to be.

The supervillain Jamboree, however, has other plans for the team...

A story of friendship, self-discovery, and identity, SECRET IDENTITIES uses a superhero backdrop to explore life as a young adult.

Leandra Inglis

Leandra 'LJ' Inglis was born in western Canada and spent her most formative years living in southern England, meaning she has strong opinions on which words should be spelt with the letter u, which sport should be called football, and how to pronounce the word jaguar. She's also been known to get confused about which words and phrases are used in which country and has been told by people in England that she still sounds Canadian, while people in Canada insist she has a British accent. When she's not writing, she's probably enthusing over some other media or talking to friends around the world on discord.

She writes mainly in the YA/NA category, focusing on the science fiction and fantasy genres, and creating fun and fantastical stories that emphasise friendships and coming of age while following characters who are over the age of eighteen. In her words, 'adults deserve to have adventures too'.

Very fun to pick up a novel about superheros in a world full of superhero movies and comics. I enjoyed the character journey's in this novel a lot and each take that we got. Loved how telepathy was written especially as if we were right in the minds of the character himself. The powers discussed were so very cool. It has that self published feel to it but the character stories make up for any lack. A long read but a good one!

The story is fun and the characters feel so real and relatable, even while they deal with things like superpowers and supervillains. The action and plot are balanced with rounded characters who are seeking to figure themselves out and how they fit into the world. The characters are diverse and each of them have unique personalities. If you're looking for a fun, heart-warming story about some superhero kids, give this a shot!

This was amazing! It was so brilliantly written, and the exploration of the lives of superheros was just incredible! The characters are some of my favourites in fiction!

I cannot recommend this book enough!
