From the Kickstarter campaign webpage: "The Pipers is based on a short story by Philip K. Dick, who wrote over 100 short stories and over 40 books — many of which are responsible for films such as Blade Runner, Minority Report, Total Recall and The Man in the High Castle."
Beautifully illustrated and leaves you wishing that the story could continue endlessly. The ever so wonderful illustrations of Elizabeth Haidle are what drew me to this book, and in the process I learned a bit about Philip K Dick and his collection of highly-rated work in the sci-fi stories. I am definitely curious to read the original story.
The artwork in this adaptation is stunning, with a visually fascinating use of blank space, a spare color palette, and shadow. Some elements are only revealed when in shadow. At the risk of being sloppy with genre and too limiting with labels, I'd say the story falls somewhere within the bounds of solarpunk (https://medium.com/solarpunks/solarpu...).
