This tale gets more twisted with each book--and harder to put down. Can you trust anyone? Even nice people have ulterior motives. I can't believe Ms. Jenkins will leave this series here.
Alexandra is considered an angel at the medical center where she works. A brilliant physician, she performs difficult neurosurgery with a skill that makes her a legend in her field. But a childhood filled with abuse has left her damaged and potentially dangerous. Pregnant after a sexual encounter with the New Orleans detective who believes she murdered her daughter, Alexandra is under more stress than usual. But when the cop resurfaces determined to gain custody and to continue his investigation Alexandra turns to the dark side.
This book is both sad and suspenseful. Alexandra's descent is rapid as her paranoia and distrust grow. Her brilliant mind can be used for good and evil. It is a compelling tale of the haunting legacy of child abuse.
The book started a little slow, possibly because it has been while since I read the last book. Once I was several chapters in, I could not put it down. The last several chapters were very intense. Such a powerful ending. Wow! I think I want to read it again starting now.
The third and final book in the series. I am totally at a loss of words. Alexandra and her lunacy is coming to a head. I've read most of Suzanna Jenkins books and I have to say, this trilogy was her best work. I laughed, gasped, cried, and won't forget this story for many years. It's a must read for a lover of drama.
My only question is: is there more???? Can’t be the end. No! This series is soooo good. It’s been years since I read the other books, yet I remember them like I read them last week!! Write Fast!!
Certainly an appropriate title for this book. This series is so unusual and doesn’t compare to anything else I have read - and I read a lot. If you want something different to read I recommend this complete series.
