Ok, much better writing. Another great plot. Less repetition of unnecessary details would be appreciated. We know she has an apartment in Charleston. No need to keep explaining it, though descriptions that fit are good. One weird thing where an Editor would have been helpful: early in the book Adrienne tells Alex the father of her child has red hair. Later, he tells Hanna the father is black. Then later, the father has red hair again. It's coming along though

Grace Holloway (Hanna’s BFF) was in prison & her accomplice Thomas Dillon was dead.

A very awesome book cover, & great font/writing style. A very well written whodunnit murder mystery book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a huge set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great murder mystery movie, or better yet a mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.

A Following Sea: The ‘Hanna and Alex’ Low Country Suspense Thriller Series Book 2 is by Michael Lindley. This second book is not quite as gripping as the first one although it does get better as it goes. The suspense is absent from the first part.
Hanna and Alex are a couple; but they both have their own careers to tend to. Hanna keeps an apartment in Charleston; but lives on Pawleys Island. Alex lives in Charleston. Hanna has managed to keep the free clinic open as well as a law practice based on Pawleys Island. Her son is in school and doing well so her life is good before it isn’t.
A homeless lady and her son come to Hanna for help. Hanna thinks it is to get her away from her abusive spouse; but Jana really doesn’t want to leave him. Moe comes in to talk and Hanna says something that sets him off. He hits her and runs. Eventually, Jana goes back to him and ends up being murdered. Now, he just has to get back at Hanna.
Alex goes home to check on his dad and finds him in jail as a suspect of murder of a fellow shrimper. The problem is that Skipper can’t remember anything about that night except a fight with Bayes earlier that night. Add to that, Skipper’s skinning knife is missing.
On top of this, Alex’s ex-wife comes back and surprises Alex with a ten-year-old son she hadn’t told him about. She makes sure Hanna knows she is back in the picture. Hanna can’t take any more surprises as she watches over her own Father who is in the hospital after a heart attack. How much can a person take in a few days?

This is an exciting story that keeps the reader in suspense to the very end. Detective Alex Frank is pulled in many directions as his father is charged with murder, his ex-wife shows up with a child she claims is his, his relationship with Hanna is failing and he faces problems with the bosses of his old home town. Sometimes the writing style seems like a recipe as it is devoid of passion. Yet the descriptions are spot on and give great mental images for the action a it occurs. I keep buying more of Lindley's books because they always provide a little emotion for me as the stories progress. He also writes about places I know, and I appreciate the memories he evokes.

I didn't find this one quite as good as the first Lindley book in this series, but I still enjoyed it. Most people would probably find it a stretch that Alex was able to actively participate in the murder investigation considering he's not a member of that police force, and his father was arrested for the murder, but having grown up in a small town, I can see this happening. I also don't think that the author truly understands domestic violence situations or he wouldn't have had Hannah meeting with the victim and her abuser together- especially since her intention was to get the abuser to turn himself in to the police and convince the victim to leave him.

Alex Frank's father is arrested for murder. His father had a drunken fight with another boat fisherman. He has his DNA over a number of sites that link him to the murder. But he was so drunk, he does not remember much. Alex is a detective in another city. He takes time off to help investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder. He uncovers a drug ring and infidelity is involved. On top of that his former wife shows up with a child and claims it is his. A lot of action as Alex gets closer to finding out what really happened. This was one novel that was difficult to put down.

The Troubled Waters is a lovely successful series. But then why am I not surprised because Author Michael Lindley wrote it and apparently he has a magic pen...but then in reality what it IS that makes all his books is that he simply has the magic writing ability within. Great series and one you do NOT wish to miss. Everything in this series flows, as Michael puts pen to paper and develops his plots and characters and nothing ever feels old about any of his books, nor did this one!!! Fresh. Entertaining, and a MUST READ.

This is the second book in a series but it could be read as a stand alone, however, I recommend reading the first book to understand the romantic relationship between Hanna and Alex. There are actually several stories going own throughout the book. Alex is working with police who have arrested his father and Hanna is a lawyer who has several things happening. Never a dull moment. I'm looking forward to the next book and the continued relationship with Hanna and Alex.

Better than the first book. After finishing it, I still don’t see why the author went so deep into Hanna’s family history in the first novel (which I’d found unnecessary and skimmed through). I don’t think it’s played a major part in the first two books so I’m curious as to why it was a big focus. There was definitely mystery but no thrills. I thought the ending was rushed. But since it’s about Charleston, I’ll keep going. I was also curious why the author made up Alex’s hometown when the other locations are real.

I liked the two protagonists in book one, but in this book, instead of investigating Hanna is being unreasonably jealous and won't speak with Frank. She ruminates over all the men in her life who have failed her. Too much of an unpleasant romance for my liking.
Frank's father is accused of killing a local shrimper, but the brute was actually killed because he was involved in drug smuggling. Frank's father was innocent.

Not terrible but LOTS of editing needed on these self published books. There are a bunch of contradictory background. The love lives of the main characters are set back in high school…very unbelievable. I live in Pawleys Island and one would think that NO ONE ELSE did based on the descriptions of the Pawleys house and beach access. I bought the set of books and am now on the last one but its a real struggle -

Hanna Walsh runs a free legal clinic in Charleston, SC. She is mentally recovering from the betrayal and death of her former husband. She is also developing a good relationship with police detective, Alex Frank. When his ex-wife comes to town, she tries to end the Hanna/Alex romance. A variety of cases help them to see what is going on. It's a good mystery series with interesting and likeable characters.

Read this book in one day!
Very good book. Once I started to read it I couldn’t put it down! I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and the characters. I found it to be compelling.My only objection with this and many other books I’ve been reading lately is need for the characters to drink so much wine! It’s a shame people can’t get through a day without a drink!

Great story
This is another story about Pawley's Island, and a family living there. Hanna has lost her husband, and her son was kidnapped due to her deceased husband's improper investments. The police officer, Alex, who helped with the case, has been dating. But when Alex's father is accused of murder, and Alex's ex wife returns to town, there are many things to resolve.

This one was very different from the first one in the series as it takes place all in the present instead of back and forth. Hanna and Alex are back with plenty of complications to keep them busy. Several crimes in Charleston and Dugganville where Alex grew up. A battered woman, a murder, drug trafficking, questioned paternity…lots of interesting pathways.

I really enjoyed this book in the series. I found the characters and story line to be entertaining. I could feel the devastation both Hannah and Alex endured with each of their obstacles. I did find that the book was building suspense all the way towards the end and it was slightly abrupt but you can't go on forever. I have already downloaded the next book in the series!

Alex's father has been charged with murder and his ex-wife returns claiming that he is a father to her son. Hanna is burdened with her father's health and a very troubling case. Couldn't stop, had to keep reading till the end.

Pretty good mystery,love story,enjoyed the story line,the characters in the book,this writer all his books I have read I have never been disappointed! I really enjoyed where the story took place cause I was raised in this area!

excellent story & too many errors
While I couldn’t stop reading this book I was constantly distracted by the errors the author or publisher continually made with names and punctuation. A good proofreading would have been nice.

This is the second book in the “Hanna and Alex”series. Michael Lindley really knows how to keep you up at night, because once you get into this book, you will find it very difficult to put it down. Pulls you in really get from the start!

I enjoyed the first book, Lies we Never Tell so much better with the 1800’s story of Amanda and she’s far more intriguing. I’ve already bought the second book but so far not as interesting. I’m sure I’ll finish it but don’t think I’ll be buying the rest of the books.

I am really enjoying this series. Hanna and Alex have chemistry for certain. A wretched ex-wife, murders, and deception are all here. I highly recommend Mr. Lindley's books.

Editor needed
Wonderful story but so many distracting grammatical errors. I noticed this in book #2 as well. It’s very distracting and I hope book #3 will be better in that regard.
