Not nearly as good as Moon Spells by the same author, I don't reach for this one like I do her other book. Very basic information, nothing you couldn't find on social media.
It was a quick easy read, however some of the content seems repetitive. It felt like a lot of fluff without anything really new. It seems like it’s be more appropriate for a true beginner, however there are some dashes of cultural appropriation thrown in that a beginner might not be able to filter out (ie smudging, white sage, chakras, Hindu deities, etc)
I like the tips and information this book provides. As it's titled, it focuses mostly on you and things you can do to bring out your best self - whether it's gratitude, journalling, mindset, meditation, fitness, diet, self care and more. I will revisit this book often on ways to align and re-balance myself with the phases of the moon.
I loved this book. I would highly recommend it. I felt like it was the missing puzzle piece to all the my learning up until now. I’m grateful for the wisdom shared.
This book has some good overview information in it. I didn't find it quite as useful as a reference book (which is what I was needing). A good intro to the concepts though.
Very surface level Moon stuff with stuff I would consider "new age." Probably great for beginners looking for ideas, but a lot of the ideas are pretty vague (ie "moisture your skin" - that's it).
Basic information, unfortunately didn’t learn anything new. Giving it an extra star because the cover is pretty & and looks nice on my coffee table book stack.
I love this book. It is sectioned by phases of the moon, and each section has ideas for what you can do to work with the energy during that phase. Ideas range from food and drink recipes, to self-care, to spells and rituals, self-reflection, and even how you can celebrate moon phases with friends and loved ones. I really appreciate that the author explains how each idea relates to the particular listed moon phase and why it works. It's basic enough that you don't have to have a lot of prior knowledge of working with the moon, which is great for a beginner like me. I have already used a couple of the ideas in the book, and I look forward to using more of them. I know this is a book I will reference often.
The Moon + You by Diane Ahlquist is divided in 5 chapters, one for each of the main Moon phases. This book features ideas, advice, meditations and everything in between, from yoga poses to recipes, to help you live in tune with the Moon.
I read this because of my interest in the Moon and its cycle, an interest shaped from the point of view of witchcraft. If you’re a witch, this book probably won’t help you a lot in your practice; if you’re a witch, you’re probably already used to think of the moon cycle as having way more shades and layers than just 5 main phases. But if you’re a witch that maybe feels ready to share aspects of her practice with family and friends, this book could come to your aid. It might seem a contradiction to help those around you to understand more about witchcraft by giving them a book that features no witchcraft at all, but if you want to ease them into it and make them understand the basics of living as a witch who’s in tune with the Moon and Nature before throwing in spells and elaborated rituals, then this book might be for you (or more specifically, for those close to you). Or if you have a friend that maybe is struggling and would like to feel more balanced and grounded, this could also be a great gift for showing them you care.
