Bambi and the Duke

Rate this book
"What? Never seen bruises before?" Leonard asked the girl.

"It hurts?" she asked him instead softly, seeing the bruises that covered his face.

"A little bit," Vivian remembering what her mother usually did to her, brought her hand up to blow warm air on her full sleeve to place it on the boy's cheek, taking the boy by surprise again.

Leonard swatted her hand away, a hint of pink appearing on his cheeks embarrassed, "W-what are you doing?"

"Mother tells it goes away," the girl held her hand close to her chest.

"That's okay. It will heal in two days," he said moving away from her and taking a seat on the chair where his books were placed, "Odd girl," he muttered pulling a book from the stack before getting lost in it.

The Year 1766

Disowned by her own family for their own reasons, she was taken in by a maid at the age of seven to work at the Carmichael's household. The Carmichael's were one of the respectable pureblooded family in Bonelake and like any other household, there were rules. Rules that needed to be followed by the servants and maids.

Like everyone else, she was reminded not to disobey the rules. But before she learns to walk in the shadows like the rest without a whisper, the Duke's young son calls her 'Bambi' and everything breaks loose.

I had read Valerian Empire almost 6-7 months ago, as far my memory goes, and I can't deny my love for that book & its amazing characters. At that time I had no knowledge of it being part of a series but a few days ago when I decided to re-read the book I found out about Heidi & the Lord and Bambi & the Duke.

Well... Lets just say, one of the best books i've read so far. Absolutely amazing and definitely a series I would like read a thousand times more.

The characters, my lord, the characters are just too much to handle (in a good way of course).

Alex, Nick, and now Leo, oh Leo, i must say he is rather too possessive compared to the other two. And I love that. Infact while reading the story I somehow came to a conclusion that Leo is a mixture of Alex and Nick. Nick is his mentor so it is only natural for them to share same traits but surprising as it may be Leo seems to share Alex's calmness and mysterious aura too. Truly amazing as a whole.

And Vivian, Leo's sweet Bambi, unlike Katie & Heidi, her character is much bolder, which is a breath of fresh air. While Katie is the most... submissive, accepting (for a lack of better word) of all, Heidi with little upgradation, Vivi is just out of the league. And the author has made them such that the 3 couples fit just right.

This book, the third one was so far the most sadest. I've cried from the start, it was an emotional overload all in all, and absolutely worth it. My tears haven't gone to waste, I must say. Amazing plot, truly amazing.

Became a fan of the author.

(Alexander is still my favourite though. 😍😁)

It is sad because of all the deaths that occur, but I loved how they understood each other even with the events that surrounded their families Deaths could be said to be each other's faults, I hate the disregard for other people's lives in this book, but I get throughout the series, no one cared of the lives of the strangers, because of that, the author probably was like let the ML/FL have pathetic stories like the strangers too, so other deaths could be somehow justified... see read the book it's worth it...
