Tristan Lark, Earl of Burley, is a lord with a plan. Hades’ Lair, London’s top gaming hell, is for sale, and Tristan intends to buy it. He even has an investor in mind: a foreign prince. Unfortunately, this investor will only work with people who are married, since he sees marriage as a sign of responsibility. The rule doesn’t faze Tristan: he’s hired an actress to play his wife.
When the actress doesn’t appear, Tristan is in trouble.
Confirmed bluestocking Irene Carmichael would rather study weather patterns than dress in fine gowns, but when Lord Burley asks her for help, she agrees, even if it means sneaking into his manor house every night for a week to play his wife.
Unfortunately, neither of them had counted on the snow.
This was an entertaining read. Irene Carmichael is an intelligent woman with a very keen interest in science. Tristan, the Earl of Burley was known as a rake and he had no intention of marrying. He hadn’t had a good example set by his parents. Tristan involves Irene in a scheme that will have unexpected results. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The sixth book in the series & whilst it could easily be read on its own I did enjoy catching up with some characters from earlier books. I thoroughly enjoyed this engaging, fun read. Irene is the typical bluestocking, wallflower & Tristan the good looking rogue but he very soon realises that Irene is truly beautiful. Their fake marriage does cause some humorous scenes especially at the ball. I read the book in a sitting& finished it with a smile on my face My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
This was such a delightful story to read and it proves that the heroine doesn't have to be a beauty to be loved:) Irene has a very scientific mind, she's a bluestocking, isn't beautiful and would rather be on her own, reading her books than going to balls and such.
Tristan is handsome, a known rake and wants to buy a gaming hell but needs a pretend wife to get the backing he needs for the purchase of the gaming hell. When his first plans don't work out, he convinces Irene to help him out and that's when the fun begins!!
I thought the story well written, fast paced and the ending truly made me smile:)

A Holiday Proposal is book 6 in Bianca Blythe’s Wedding Trouble series. I thought this was a very witty and charming story. Blythe writes wonderfully sweet romances. “His scent did funny things to her heart. It trembled in his presence, fluttering like a trapped butterfly. Dancing with him would be dangerous.” I think I fell in love with the hero Tristan. His sunny outlook and graciousness won me over. I liked the heroine Irene. She’s not a typical Regency romance beauty, but I discovered that she grew on me as the story progressed. Looking forward to more by Blythe. I was given a copy of this book.
This is a well-written story with multi-dimensional characters, and although the outcome is predictable, there are unexpected twists and turns along the way.
There was a description right at the beginning that caught my attention because the personification used captured the essence of autumn: "He ignored the dried leaves that flitted through the air and crunched beneath his gelding's hooves. The leaves had long abandoned the few trees, unwilling to accompany the branches they had spent so much time with, for the inevitable onslaught of bitter, frigid cold. The gusts took glee in shaping the long blades of grass that lined the path into unpleasant forms, as if it had recently taken a course on sculpting."
I also loved this visual of one of the characters: "His pear-shaped face seemed formed for the specific purpose of allowing his lips to show more dramatic frowns."
Tristan changes from self centered lonely man who wishes to have gaming hell to fill a void in his life, to a man who realizes he doesn't need to live his life in reaction to how his parents lived theirs. He did not receive the love he needed as a child and the gaming hell give him friends and a sense of belonging. He thinks this place will provide for his emotional needs. After spending time with Irene, he realizes her needs her. Without Irene, he feels loneliness like he has never felt before.
Irene is studious and unsure of herself, but generous and willing to help when Tristan asks. She comes to realize she has denied her desire to find someone special because she didn't think she could. For different reasons, neither of them feels worthy of the other. Spending time with Tristan, imagining how her life could be, changes her. It owns her heart to possibilities. For example, she attends a ball and another man is anxious to dance with her and thinks she is beautiful. It's because she had fallen in love and exudes a joy that attracts others.
Irene has always been in love with Tristan, but he doesn't know that. She feels she can never attract someone like him because her mother disapproves of her and has convinced her she is unworthy. Even Tristan notices how Irene's mother diminished her, assuming he couldn't possibly have any interest in her. Eventually, Tristan realizes Irene is the most important thing to him. Everything else is superfluous. It's a sweet holiday story and I really enjoyed it.
Tristan Lark, Earl of Burley, was a businessman, and was very interested in Hade's Lair, the gaming hell run by the Duke of Vernon and the Earl of McIntire. Both of them were now happy married men, and they no longer wanted this kind of work. Burley already had his target to negotiate the house, Prince Radoslav. However, the prince had on principle only to deal with married men, and Tristan was a famous bachelor. To resolve this issue, Burley hires an actress, Francesca, to pretend to be his wife. And her price had not been cheap at all. And to make matters worse, Francesca stood him up. Desperate not to lose the bargain, Burley asks the butler, George, if there was a lady nearby who would be willing to play his role as wife, and the answer was Miss Irene Carmichael.
Irene was admittedly a bluestocking, and aimed not at marriage but at her research on weather patterns. She wasn't interested in balls or fashion, and she had known Burley for years and secretly developed a crush for him. But she was well aware that he would marry a beautiful lady. When he breaks into her room through the glass garden door and proposes to her to be a fake wife, she doesn't accept it at first, but then reconsiders, and helps him.
But over the days, as Prince takes his decision, Burley and Irene get closer and closer together. He knew her family, had even saved her brother during the war, but only now did he pay attention to her. The scheme that should happen during the day begins to go wrong when the storm comes and leaves them in the same house longer than allowed. And the more Irene found herself in love with Tristan, the farther she got from the realization of her dream. She would have to choose what future she wanted, and Tristan would have to admit to himself that what had started as a scam had become the strongest and noblest feeling he could ever wish for. 4 stars
Tristan Lark, Earl of Burley, is a lord with a plan. Hades’ Lair, London’s top gaming hell, is for sale, and Tristan intends to buy it. He even has an investor in mind: a foreign prince who would require him to be married. So he’s hired an actress to play his wife. Unfortunately the actress has cried off.
Confirmed bluestocking Irene Carmichael would rather study weather patterns than dress in fine gowns, but when Lord Burley asks her for help, she agrees. She has after all been in love with her brother's friend for years. What will happen when the actress appears any way? This is a delightful Brother's Friend to Love scenario. Out just in time for the Holiday Season this newest edition of Bianca Blythe's Wedding Trouble series will make you laugh and possibly shed a few tears. I have read all six books in this series and Bianca Blythe never seems to disappoint me. I received a complimentary ARC of this book via Book Funnel to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which is given freely. All thoughts about this book are my own.
This is a romantic and entertaining story. Tristan needs an investor so he can buy the gaming hell he prefers, but in order for the investor to give Tristan his money Tristan needs to be married. When the actress he hires doesn't show, he ends up asking the sister of a friend. Irene initially tells him no, because it could ruin her reputation, and break her heart, because she'd had a crush on him for years. But after he leaves she changes her mind, and sneaks out of her friends home to go play his wife. While they pretend to be married, they get to know each other, and fall in love. She is a kind, caring and smart. Tristan is bold, charming and amusing. This is a wonderful story with interesting characters and a romantic HEA. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

This is a fun read, and kept my interest with all the silliness goings on.
Tristan is looking for a moneylender to start a gambling hall in London. He finds him in a Russian prince, but he only deals with married men. Tristan does not have a good example of marriage and is looking for a woman who can pretend to be his wife. The actress he has hired for this does not show up and so he has a problem.
Irene has admired Tristan from a distance for years and when he asks her to play the part of his wife, she agrees. Knowing that it goes against all rules of society. But what if feelings predominate? How do you keep going?
A wonderfully light novel for a cold winter evening on the couch
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A good enough story but not ready for publication . This story desperately needed an editor. While the characters were enjoyable, they needed a bit more dimension. Also, there were a number of egregious errors. On one page a woman was described sweeping in in a scarlet dress. Two paragraphs later it’s noted how becoming her turquoise dress is on her. Lots of poor phrasing, anachronisms, and bad grammar. I had some difficulty believing the HEA. With some help and polish this could be very lovely. I encourage the author to keep working and I know it will come.
Again, I did not read this book. I just felt like the series droned on too long so I chose to stop at Book 3. The first 3 books weren't that great, with book 2 being the best. The rest of the series kept getting more chapters with less interesting plots and stories, with characters that really weren't that deserving of their own books. From Book 5, Emma Braunschweig was brought back into the series. She first appeared in book 2, but only had a very minor role, so I didn't see the need for her to have her own story. Book 6 came well out of the left field with hardly any connection to the other 5 books, so no, I won't read the rest.
Desperate for a stand-in wife, Tristan climbs up to Irene Carmichael's balcony and persuades her to play the role. Despite his long-suffering servants' confusion, they do play along with him, but even so, things do not go to plan. Combined with a snowstorm and unexpected events, Tristan sees his future unraveling before him. That is until he comes to the realisation that there are some things one cannot buy. The story is generally well written, lighthearted and romantic is a standalone. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Tristan Lark, Earl of Burley, needs a wife when the actress he hired to play his wife never showed up and he needs one in order to buy the gaming hell he wants. He is desperate so he hires spinster bluestocking Irene Carmichael who is happy to assist her good friends older brother play the role of his wife. This is sweet romance that no one saw coming especially Tristan and Irene but it also had its funny moments that was very entertaining.

Definitely To Be Read!!!! This is such an interesting story. Irene and Tristan get themselves into such a problematic situation that all the way through I was wondering if they would ever be able to get themselves out of it - without anyone getting hurt or having regrets. The story is so well written, full of humor and tongue-in-cheek situations that I couldn't help but love everything about it and I highly recommend it as a book to be read! I read an Advance Reader Copy of this story and my review is given voluntarily and is also unbiased.
A bluestocking and a Gambler. Oh, when you practice to deceive all sorts of things can happen. Tristan needs a wife to impress an investor now he does not need a real wife so he comes up with an idea. Damn if that did not work so next he asks Irene in a true romantic way to be his pretend wife. This lighthearted gem was a joy to read. It was well-written some downright funny moments, great twists, and overall a lovely story. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
If you're looking for a lighthearted Christmas Regency romance, that is also very sweet and clean, then A Holiday Proposal should be your next read. Bianca Blythe has deftly written a witty and endearing tale that will make you smile. The main characters are charmingly cute together, the supporting characters fit in well and the story is delightfully tender with a smile-worthy ending.
All in all, this is a enjoyable holiday novella.
Disclosure: I received an ARC of this book from the author. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review.
Book six of the Wedding Trouble series a well written story that kept me smiling as I read. This is Miss Irene Carmichael and Tristan Lark, Earl of Burley, and the lie that gets them both in trouble. Tristan needs a wife for a business deal with Prince Radoslav and Princess Natalia so he lies and says he has one. Irene decides to help Tristan so she goes along with him. I liked when they first meet. This was a fun Regency Christmas story to read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Its ok. It had a great plot but the author failed to develop either the plot or the characters well. Irene is jurist flitting in and out . Tristan is just there. And the Russian Prince and Princess are caricatures. Just so much repetition of words and thoughts its tediuos.
I liked Irene being serious about studying weather and Tristan 's support to her to further her knowledge and education of te same under a professor at Cambridge. The book didn't end with her pregnant or as a mother.
Tristan has plans, he needs a wife, but not a real.one. His original choice hasn't shown up, the actress/mistress he paid. When he finds out the youngest sister of his two friends from school is visiting the estate next door, he decides maybe she won't turn him down. She agrees only because she loves him and has for a long time. Tristan is self centered until he realizes he loves Irene. Nice story, but a few weak moments and characters
A Holiday Proposal is the sixth book in the Wedding Trouble series. This is an entertaining holiday romance with charming characters that learn a lot about themselves and the person with whom they have a fake relationship. The storyline is engaging and well written, with drama, humour, a snowstorm, and an unexpected chance of love.
I am looking forward to reading more books in this series. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
I received a copy from the author; this is my honest review. -Funny, funny, funny. Right from the start and it doesn't stop there. -What a mess a simple need can make. Simple? Top that with royals too. -No stretched drama from any parts, just simple logic and love conquers all. -It's sweet, it's charming and it's realistic for the times (from what I know anyways). -I love the butler; he's so amusing.
Who would have thought a scientist would be involved in a romantic, very NOT so scientific scheme? It's the heroine, in a time when women were not even acknowledged to be able to study, who is the scientist. She is surprised by the hero who begs her to help him fool a possible investor in a business he is desperate to keep. Shenanigans galore and can they keep it under wraps from everyone but the investor?
I liked this romp. The tone and silliness reminded me of The Perfect Fiancé and How to Capture a Duke (Wallflowers books 0 and 1), which remain my favorites. However, I must ask, if the h cannot leave the earl's estate due to the heavy snowfall one evening, how can someone from London reach the estate the very next morning? I read a free copy; the thoughts expressed are my own.
I love this story and the wonderful characters within... Fun, twists and surprises until the end... A young lady, known as bluestocking... a young lord, known as rake... He needs a fake wife to obtain an adventure... but the hired wife doesn't show up and so the fun begins... A story for all that love Regency...
Bianca Blythe books are always enjoyable, and this is no exception. This book is about Tristan who needs a fake wife to make a business deal. Irene, who is a bluestocking interested in studying weather patterns, agrees to help Tristan out and pretend to be his wife. Reading about Tristan and Irene was a nice clean enjoyable read. You will enjoy this book.
Tristan needs a wife in an isolated countryside! Irene loves science and weather patterns! Irene has secretly loved Tristan for years but Tristan is a rake! Tristan has hired an actress and his ex-mistress as his wife except she didn't show up until she did! If you love balcony kisses, tree climbing and blizzards than you will love this story!
I would like to thank the author for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Tristan needs a wife to impress investors and Irene is visiting next door. Irene has had a crush on Tristan since they met when she was a child. She never imagined she would be married and he doesn't understand why people would marry. Both of their opinions change after their short interlude.
