Rory & Jack #3

A Christmas Wedding

Rate this book
Christmas. A Wedding. Family. It’s the Perfect Storm…

For Rory Kincaid marrying Jack, the youngest son of the aristocratic De Lacy family, on Christmas Eve, is a dream come true. Handing over the wedding planning to Jack’s mother, the strong-willed Lady Diana, is turning out to be more of a nightmare.

As their big day approaches, the pressure’s on and the strain is beginning to show. Announcements in society magazines, a guest list that’s growing and growing, and fittings for the best bespoke tailoring in London, it’s all a far cry from Rory’s humble upbringing. Piece by piece, Rory and Jack’s dream of a simple winter wedding is fading fast.

Rory is Jack’s everything. Sweet, kind, and totally adorable, Rory is all Jack has ever wanted. And what Jack wants most of all is to give the man he loves the wedding day of his dreams — which means taking a stand against the indomitable Diana.

***Warning: this story contains two gorgeous men, a mountain of festive food, a punk rocker Christmas fairy called Bunty, and a snowy Christmas Wedding. No cliff hangers, and one hundred percent Happy Ever After guaranteed.***

I am tempted to declare this book my new favorite Christmas book so far... it is that good, yet having the two previous books in the series adds so much to this one that IMO it is not fair to bump this one above my current favorite. That said Ms. Ryecart could captivate me with Jack and Rory doing the dishes or mopping the floor. I love these two like no other couples. And I won't even get into how they snuggle and cuddle ALL the time. The author had me in very very happy tears for the last 15% of the book and has me hoping (based on the epilogue) that there will be a book 4 coming in the next year!!

And with this book, we came to an end of Rory and Jack's story (at least what's written down, in my mind they are out there in London somewhere being happy) and it was a beautiful ending.

As per usual for this series, it was filled with crazy relatives and crazy animals. And lots of love between Jack and Rory. That mixed with seeing how much Rory has grown, made it a joy to read.

I made the mistake of not reading the other two books in the series before reading this one. While I didn’t feel completely lost and it could be read as a standalone — I think you’d get the most enjoyment starting from the beginning of this couples journey together.

This is a sweet romance that follows Jack and Rory as they approach their wedding day. They are, of course, met with some obstacles they have to overcome — along with an overbearing mother who is determined to have things done her way. Along with the loads of stress a wedding brings you — but I was very happy at the way they handled it all and the never ending support the two gave one another.

I really enjoyed this one. It was filled with sweet, genuine love between the two MCS that showed they were truly in it together. Add in that perfect Christmas touch and the mentioning of lots of yummy baked goods and it becomes a wonderful, enjoyable holiday romance.

I will definitely be checking out the first two books in the series! Rory and Jack have me hooked.

4 stars!

What began as a tender and tame story of finding the person meant to open the way from painful past experiences to contentment and love has now become a healing journey of finding a heart's true home and all the crazy complications that go along with that. Carving out your own forever isn't all cupcakes and rainbows, especially when stronger personalities get in the mix. Seeing Jack and Rory not only forge a stronger bond together, but also find their ideal balance was a perfect way to continue their story.

Rory and Jack have come a long way and all the steam we didn't get on their first Christmas is here in spades. In that department they never have any issues. I did find that the issues they did have mostly revolved around Rory's insecurities. Yes, his struggle with the wedding plans were there, but that was a minor issue when compared to his near constant comparisons of his upbringing versus Jack's.

There was a surprise bit in there that really helped Rory to come to terms with everything and while I thought it was pretty appropriate for his part in the story, I kind of found it to be a bit ... sappy? I don't know how to adequately describe how I felt about that meeting, but I suppose it ended fine because it gave both closure and opened a future connection that had been missing in Rory's life until now. I just felt like it was used to "heal" him rather than him finding a way to give himself the eye-opening realization he needed to see the truth of his connection with Jack rather than the trappings that were an issue from the very start of their relationship.

Coming around full-circle to the holiday that brought them together, this was a very sweet story that shows how important love is, that without it it wouldn't matter how beautiful the season, how tacky the trimmings, or how sweet the frosting. What mattered most to Rory and Jack were the simple things that gave their love uniqueness and longevity. Communication was still a bit of an issue along with a few other bumps along their road, but their love and commitment smoothed them all out and gave them the fortitude to build a very sweet life together.

This is the third installment of Jack and Rory’s story. In book one, Jack found Rory at Christmas time, homeless and huddled on his doorstep. They have evolved in their relationship since that time. Met at Christmas, engaged at Christmas and now about to have a Christmas Eve wedding. They have opened their bakery, The Bakehouse, and it is very successful. Great, except it means they are incredibly busy, especially Rory as he does all the baking. Add in the wedding plans and it’s starting to really pressure him.

I have to say the blurb was a little misleading. Yes, Diana is in charge of the wedding plans. Yes, on a few occasions she makes decisions without consulting them. However, I felt the decisions were not huge deals – a few extra people at the wedding, an arrangement about the cake. There really is not “take a stand against Diana” at all.

The book is more about the two of them, established in their relationship, taking that next step to a wedding. I did lower my rating some because in this book Jack and Rory are extremely sappy. I like sweetness and some sap but this went over the top for me. They were constantly declaring how much they loved each other, forever and always. Rory sometimes questions his worth to this historic family but he really is accepted unconditionally.

The actual conflict here comes from an entirely different direction. It is not a huge thing and the book really is angst-free, but I felt the way Rory handled it showed what a good person he is.

Side characters, Diana, Jack’s sister Caroline, Mabel and Lance from The Bakehouse, were interesting and well fleshed out.

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.5 stars

I rarely find myself in this position, but this is one time where I definitely feel that this novel could have actually delivered the same emotional impact without affecting the storyline in a much shorter format. I felt that the pace of the book dragged often, and that the same fretting and distraught internal conversation Rory had with himself was repeated too frequently. Honestly, since there was very little external drama save the brief appearance of someone from Rory’s past, the constant worry from Rory over whether he was good enough and Jacks’ repeated reassurances that he was got a little bit old after a while.

What a perfect story for this wonderful couple that I've fallen in love with over the series.
It's really easy to feel a deep connection between Rory and Jack right from the start, something that has built up over the three books of the series.
Rory gets overwhelmed with his new booming bakery business and the planning of their upcoming wedding, something Jack's mother has stepped up to help with. Her domineering ways aren't helping either!
Along with the wedding, Rory has a ghost from his past show up along with Jack having visions of future possibilities for their business. Along with a lot of stresses for both men, there are a lot of warm and cosy moments where they get to spend quality time as a couple, reminding each other of where they came from, how they met and why they are so good together. It doesn't stop Rory's feelings of inadequacy when it comes to Jack's family considering his parents are a Sir and Lady.
There is a perfect festive feeling right from the start with snow, Christmas decorations and carol singing along with some mouthwatering baked goods.
Cannot recommend this contemporary romance enough and it has such a great Christmas spirit. I'd recommend reading this series in order as Rory and Jack's relationship progresses across the three books.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

I have followed Jack and Rory from the beginning and I still love the two of them together. This is about their wedding, and Ryan is still wondering how his friendship with Jack developed into love. A lot of it is insecurity, in that how can a 'commoner' really become accepted as part of an aristocratic family?

This is a really lovely Christmas story from A. E. Ryecart. It's a lovely entertaining storyline, with really engaging characters. Rory still feels that he's not good enough for Jack, but their character /relationship development is beautiful.

I became engrossed in their story, and their engaging chemistry and interaction had me hooked from beginning to end. The whole Christmas background works wonderfully well, I enjoyed the sentimentality of it all.

It's a nice quick read with good vibes, romance and a gift of family, perfect for the Christmas season. I would recommend that you read the two previous books to this one, for the full story.

You don’t have to read all three stories but I would recommend it as they follow on nicely one after the other.

It’s a truly wonderful Christmas story that’s so sweet it would melt a cold heart. Added in the donkey gate story and an overbearing well meaning mother in law and you have some laughs.

Jack and Rory have defiantly stood the test of time. They have take all the obstacles in their way to make their love flourish and bloom from friends to husbands.

Fantastic friends to lovers opposites attract festive read. Would highly recommend it.

Only thing is don’t read if your on a diet it’s just made me crave cake especially chocolate brownies lol

A nice ending to Jack's and Rory's tale but pretty bland. More drama with Jack's mother, more Jack keeping secrets about their business, not enough of Badger the dog. Skimmed the wedding because I really wanted it to be over.

I was given a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Please note you must read all three books in order to really appreciate them.
I give 5 stars when I have really enjoyed the story and it is well written and well edited. Once started I didn't put the book down until I was finished. I have enjoyed this series from book 1 and I was looking forward to seeing Rory and Jack getting their happily ever after. They do have obstacles to overcome - a very determined future mother-in-law being the main one. There is also a main character being lost on the moor and a secondary love story - but not what you think. The dog is gorgeous.
Loved the setting - both the moors and London.
Rory also gets an unexpected surprise from his past and it's good to see that it proves to be a good one.
I recommend the whole series.

After two years of a flourishing relationship, "watered" each day with love, tenderness and closeness of a beloved person, Rory and Jack, just like flowers, are close to being in full bloom and saying "I do". Their wedding is planned for Christmas Eve and although all the preparations are done by Jack's mother, the stress associated with this special day still makes Rory feel bad. But how could it be otherwise when the ceremony, which was supposed to be small and modest, slowly grows without the grooms' knowledge? Their wedding should be a joyous moment, but won't stress overshadow its beauty before this important day?

"A Christmas Wedding" is the third installment of Rory and Jack's love story written by A E Ryecart. There's no doubt that the first advantage of this novel is the fact that once again, as Christmas is coming, we "visit" these two characters, whom we already had the opportunity to meet and fall in love with. I think it's all the more important because in this way, step by step, novel by novel, we see the progress of their relationship, changes that take place in their lives and in them. What's more, reading about Rory and Jack once again, we feel as if we are visiting some old friends with whom we are going to spend Christmas. This comparison seems to me all the more adequate as "A Christmas Wedding" focuses not only on the events taking place right before our eyes, but to some extent it also recounts what has happened so far. So we have the impression that the characters tell us what happened when we were "absent", and thus about the events taking place between the books. It's a really unique and enjoyable feeling.

Rory and Jack's wedding is naturally the theme that dominates "A Christmas Wedding". The way the author approaches this topic is really amazing, as this is not some mawkish story about two men in love who finally have the opportunity to say the significant "I do". In this novel, we can find all the emotions that are related to the wedding, starting from stress. What's interesting, A E Ryecart doesn't limit herself by presenting the stress of preparations, but she focuses mostly on the human psyche, and thus on questions such as: "Is my involvement in the ceremony sufficient?", "Am I good enough?". What's more, the author also raises the problem of becoming part of a new family. A family that is not ours in genetic and emotional terms. And finally, since it's all about marriage, we also see joy and happiness, which, although muffled by stress, are enormous and omnipresent. In other words, in this novel the author presents the topic of the wedding in a realistic way in terms of emotions.

Another advantage of "A Christmas Wedding" is the way the author presents Christmas. Obviously, our characters spend the holidays together, which allows her to present the topic of their personal traditions, problems and joys. However, to me the most important is the fact that A E Ryecart approaches the subject in the way that reminds me a little of "A Christmas Carol". In other words, her characters face the ghosts of past, present and future Christmas. Of course, this is not about facing the ghosts literally, as in Charles Dickens' story. Rory and Jack often think about Christmas taking into account the mentioned three points on the timeline. This is undoubtedly very interesting, especially since it encourages us to do the same.

Finally, I would like to mention that in "A Christmas Wedding" the topic of enjoying life and every day, every success, small or great pleasure is really important. It's undoubtedly very festive and positive, it makes us smile and encourage us to look at our lives from a different, more optimistic angle. What's more, it is worth mentioning that this type of sweetness is combined with a bit of bitterness of hesitation, which is quite normal for all of us, or lack of complete confidence. Thanks to all this, in other words all these better and worse moments, Rory and Jack are the characters closer to the readers.

To sum up, "A Christmas Wedding" is an enjoyable novel that approaches the presented events seriously and rather realistically. Although the story is full of sweetness that comes from love of two people, we can also find here some sour thoughts, thanks to which our characters develop as the story moves forward.

„A Christmas Wedding” to trzecia odsłona historii miłosnej Rory’ego i Jacka autorstwa A E Ryecart. To naprawdę wyjątkowe i przyjemne uczucie.

AE Ryecart's A Christmas Wedding is full of romance and tenderness.

Rory and Jack are preparing for their wedding. Along the way the have to deal with a bossy mother and more. I enjoy that although there are issues, it never becomes overly angsty.

This story has everything sweet and romantic about the holidays. It includes a watch, some sexy moments, Christmas carols, and all the feels of the holidays.

This is a beautiful story of family. It's the story of a man who has no family, finding one with his husband, his in laws, and more.

If you enjoy Christmas weddings, be sure to pick up A Christmas Wedding. AE Ryecart will leave you satisfied.

Audio Review:
Overall: 5
Performance: 5
Story: 5

Wonderful story, characters and audio performance!

I love everything that this author has written but have to admit that the Rory & Jack series may be my favorite, or at least tied with Barista Boys. ❤ A Christmas Wedding was brought to life all over again for me by the talented Dan Calley. He had me in tears more than once and I am so happy I listened to this book!

I pretty much said it all when I reviewed the eBook back in November 2019. My review from then is shown below.

I really love Rory and Jack. ❤

I fell in love with Rory and Jack a year ago when Ms. Ryecart wrote her first Christmas story, A Kiss Before Christmas. Next, she wrote a follow-up Easter story for them, An Easter Promise, which I also loved.

A Christmas Wedding has Rory and Jack getting ready for their big day, a simple wedding on Christmas Eve. Things don't go exactly as planned after Rory and Jack agree to let Jack's mother handle the wedding arrangements. You really can read this book as a standalone but you will be missing a couple of great stories if you don't read books one and two first.

The blurb for the book gives you the details you need. The other things you need to know are how absolutely devoted to one another Jack and Rory are. They've made a good life in the two years they've been together and their business is flourishing.

Ms. Ryecart usually likes to have a good bit of angst in her stories so a part of me kept waiting for something big to happen. I don't think it's spoiling anything to say that there is no major angsty event – just a few little bumps in the road – enough to keep things interesting.

The last few chapters of this story really got to me and started the happy tears flowing. There is the best surprise ever during the wedding but I'm not telling what it is.

A copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

On paper I should hate this book. Almost nothing happens. There is no real conflict. It's just nice people being sweet to each other. But I kind of love it. I'm a fan of these characters and the writing and the author does a good job of threading the needle on the sometimes cringey class conflict aspects of the story. I would be perfectly happy getting another tale about these two every couple of years to check in.

I love Ali Rycart….I have read and reviewed the Deviant Hearts Series and her Barista Boys Series previously….A Kiss Before Christmas and An Easter Promise I somehow missed. When I saw the third of the Trilogy came out November 2019, I grabbed all three to read the entire trilogy.

We are having a Christmas Wedding. Jack and Rory are to be wed at the family estate…OMG the way to the alter is sometimes rife with angst. This was double….

But these two who have found each other, worked together slowly trusting that their future was to be together, fared pretty well. The typical wedding craziness was topped by Ms Ryecart’s surprise for sweet Rory, something we were happy to welcome. The two young men truly belonged together and the author wrote this with simplicity and humor with the love that they deserved. Truly an uplifting 3 books, I’m glad I read!!!

Rory Kincaid is marrying Jack De Lacy on Christmas Eve but being busy with their business means they handed over the wedding planning to Jack's mother the strong-willed Lady Diana which is turning out to be a nightmare. As time gets closer, strain is starting to show with announcements in society magazines and fittings for the best bespoke tailoring in London. Rory and Jack’s dream of a simple winter wedding is fading fast. Rory is Jack's everything and so what Jack wants is to give the man he loves the wedding day of his dreams even if it means taking a stand against his mother Diana.

I loved this story where they finally get the happy ending that they deserved and even with their over-enthusiastic wedding planner they did finally have a perfect day. I loved the plans for their business and personal lives going forward read like a dream and make me want to know what happened next. These guys were so perfect for each other and surely there is no way you can read this and not become emotional. Easy to read, feel and understand. Please note this MM story contains some mature content.

A Christmas Wedding is book 3 in the Rory & Jack series, but it can be perfectly read as a standalone, which is what I did, I'll likely go back and read the previous books, because I really liked Jack and Rory together and would love to read their whole story.

Rory and Jack own a bakery that is getting more and more successful and on top of that, they're planning their Christmas wedding, well, rather, Jack's mother is planning their wedding since they don't really have much time. Only, she's going a bit overboard and that just adds to Rory's stress over everything.

Jack and Rory were a great together, they worked well both at The Bakehouse and as a couple. They had chemistry, were hot together, but above all, they both supported and were there for each other when they needed it.

This was an amazing read, filled with love, enough twists to keep me entertained and all the feels a Christmas' story should have. Very recommendable!

Wedding Bell Schmooze

Generally speaking I find wedding sequels to very good two-character series overdone. They are usually full of angst and silly sidelines. That's why I was hesitant to grab this one because I loved the absolutely charming and heartfelt couple of novellas with two compelling MCs in Rory and Jack.

And for a few chapters, I was not all that satisfied I would get through it. That's because there was a lot of back and forth in and about the bake shop Rory and Jack had opened. Plus, a significant amount of potential angst was introduced into the wedding plans by Jack's well-meaning but totally controlling patrician mother which drove both he and foster-home survivor up the wall.

Then someone showed up sheepishly in the bakery one day, and everything changed. I was enchanted by the writing that got us through a very awkward situation that came completely out of the blue (well, you could imagine who the mystery character was right from the start, but no matter).

From there on things just jiggered up in pace and plot and by the time the vows were being recited I was completely besotted.

Cheers to Rory and Jack and author A.E. Ryecart for bringing them our way.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. What was supposed to be a simple wedding was getting blown up to a bigger event Jack was finding out. Rory was plans was being ignored by Jacks mother. Rory is in for a few surprises one unexpected guest before the big day. Will Rory and Jack get their dream wedding or will Lady Diana take it overboard? The wedding day dawns with little monsters and all. A wonderful sweet wedding just in time for a Christmas romance. Just love how Jack is always there for Rory even when he least expect it and Rory giving him his dream of love and happiness.

A Christmas Wedding by A E Ryecart is book number three in the Rory and Jack series.

This is a sweet series of two people from very different backgrounds. Christmas time is a special time for Rory and Jack since they met during the Christmas holidays. Their bakery is doing well but with a higher demand due to the holidays and getting ready for a wedding Rory is feeling stressed out. Jack’s mom is taking care of the wedding plans and things are getting out of hand. Rory feels that they won’t get their small intimate wedding. Rory and Jack are perfect for one another. I enjoyed their heartwarming story.

A Christmas Wedding was the third book in the Rory and Jack series and it is a sweet and fluffy conclusion to the trilogy. Rory and Jack have everything they want: they are in love and own their own successful business. There is some drama with the wedding and family matters, but all in all, this final book is just full of sweetness and fluff. It was a perfect Christmas story.

The audiobook was narrated by Dan Calley who did a great job with the audiobook. Dan voiced each character perfectly and really brought to life all the joy and drama of the story. The audiobook production was well done and it made for a fantastic listening experience.

In this book we find Jack and Rory running a successful business and getting ready for their Christmas wedding. The preparations for the wedding and the busy bakery are making Rory stressed out but Jack is always there to help him relax.
It was a wonderful love story. Very warm and sweet. It had a wonky Christmas tree, a very special dog and a donkey named Desmond. And it was beautifully written. I enjoyed it very much.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

This is a sweet and fun addition to the Rory & Jack series. It is great to see how well they are doing with their impending wedding and their bakery. Rory and Jack are so cute together and I love how supportive and loving they are with each other. There are a couple surprises in this story and I love Jack's family. The ending is beautiful and I look forward to seeing what the author has in store for us next.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Jack and Rory are so sweet and loving together. This book is full of love and family. With their upcoming wedding and the success of their bakery Rory is stressful. All that Rory and Jack want is a small wedding with their closest family and friends. With Jack’s mother taking over the weddings they are a little worried about how it will turn out, but it turns out lovely with a wonderful happy ending. I definitely recommend this book. It is such a marvelous sweet love story.

A Wonderful Wedding

The problems leading up to the day were a lot but I think Rory handled them rightly. Not wanting to hurt his mother-in-law law's feelings. There was a lot that he could have said but didn't. I loved the whole series but I fell in love with this book because this was where it finally comes together from that fateful day in a snow covered doorway for a homeless young man.

I first discovered Jack and Rory last Christmas and I've been on the journey with them. What I love about this series is that, while very sweet, it also has a whole lot of spice. It could be off-putting to some but I rolled with it. I love that the author has honored the roots of Jack and Rory and set this book at Christmas. Now I know there's a bonus short story but I really want to see more of Jack and Rory, The Bakehouse, the family both found and blood.
