Immortal Delirium by Carolyn Cross The Immortal series #2. Urban fantasy. Best read in series order as this book starts immediately afterwards. Multi-timelines. Kate West travels to Bavaria Germany to find her brother Ethan. He’s been missing for months and Kate knows it’s time to use her magic abilities to find him. To protect him if she can. But Ethan doesn’t remember Kate. He is a Sensor with great powers and he’s being used in a war between the Alliance and the Dilluvian Order. From current times to Persia in 1522 to 5th century A.D. and back, the forces fight against each other for their version of power and dominance.
Intricate and detailed world building, this second book in the series expands the dynamics almost beyond tracking, with Kate and Ethan as pawns between the divinations. As in any war, casualties are numerous and innocents are lost. Kate is able to find Ethan. But the war rages on. Lorns, Oryx, angels, the Order and so much more. Find the next book in the series, Immortal Destiny to find the answers to the ultimate power of winners and losers.
Too much epic and pointless power grabbing for me. My opinion. But this type of deep fantasy is not my norm. It may be yours.
"Immortal Delirium" is book two in the "Immortal" series by Carolyn Cross. It was an excellent read. There was so much going on in this book that I don't know where to begin. Kate is overseas looking for her brother Ethan. Ethan has been missing for 3 months. Kate is a witch and can tell that he is still alive. She goes about trying to find him. Ethan has no recollection of his past and doesn't know much about himself. Ethan is a Sensor, and is starting to find out there is more to him than what he knows. This book is a page turner, and by the end of the book, you want more. I can't wait to move on to the next in this series to see what happens next with Kate. My favorite part is when she talks to Roger and he helps her and also gives her a message from her mother. I enjoy Carolyn's writing style.
I like the plot and characters, but I do wish I had had the time to refresh myself on book one because there are a lot of people and a lot of plot to keep up with! Once things really started to come back to me, I was able to sink in and enjoy the twists and turns. I won't let as much time pass before picking up the next one!
Immortal Delirium is the second book in Carolyn Cross’s The Immortal series. It picks up right where the events of book one ended. You need to read this series in order to follow the plot. Ethan is in the hands of the powerful Firsts and the Alliance is trying to figure out how to get him back. Ethan’s sister Kate joins the story as she goes to Germany to look for her brother. There are many characters in this book and many POV’s. At times all of the different POV’s becomes overwhelming. The first half of the book spent a lot of time on background stories and dragged a bit. The action really picks up in the second half and the book becomes an exciting read. I recommend this book to anyone who likes complex urban fantasy.
Immortal Delirium is Carolyn M. Walker’s sophomore novel, the second in the Immortal Series. It continues the story of Ethan West. A young artist, who has just won a major art exhibition and a scholarship to a prestigious Florida art college, simply disappears. His sister Kate can’t find him. The police can’t find him.
Immortal Delirium combines the biblical lore of angels and nephilim and births a new form of life, Lorns. These are immortal beings, yet can be killed. They have at least one superpower such as reading others’ thoughts or concealing their bodies from others, as well as superhuman stamina. The forces of good and evil battle it out.
I enjoyed reading this. It was imaginative and clever with excellent world-building. The book does end on a cliff-hanger, so if you like stories neatly wrapped up, be prepared.
There are so many twists and turns in this story. There are also so many characters to keep track of. I needed to makes notes to keep up. With many of the characters including Tristan there seemed to be so many secret agendas and double crossing. Kate is a strong and determined woman who wants her brother back and is willing to go to any length to get him back. Ethan is man who has been changed in many ways that I don’t think he even understands himself. While this story is well written the level of violence was a bit much for me. Also the ending again levels you on the edge of a dark cliff. But if this type of fantasy is your jam you will really love this book. #CMCon26
Ethan has been taken by the Order and he is being trained for a top priority mission. They have brainwashed him against the Alliance. Things are moving along for Ethan in the Order until his sister is brought to him to siphon from. Kate has gone through an amazing journey to try to find Ethan. She had promised her mother that she would always look out for him. There is some great world building and secrets are shared. Allegiances are shifting and the world is possibly on the brink of destruction. Book three should be epic!
It took me a moment to get into the book. I read the first book a while ago. It's an interesting story, but it can be challenging to keep track of everything. The book has lots of characters and several POVs. The book does pick up in the second half.
