This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
For Jericho, a man who enjoys retirements peace and quiet, his response for survival takes the unknown action in in stride. Which he does well since he retired from mercenary work. A potential customer stopped by his home which perturbed him since he used an alias. Later Jericho found the portfolio the thief left. Just after examining the documents, he was assaulted in his home, but with more experience than his attackers he got away. He is survival mode.
The story contains consistent action, but you get to know Jericho as a person along the way. After starting the book, I wanted to read to the finish without interruptions, but life intervened. I highly recommend this book to action readers. I received an advance copy to provide an honest and unbiased review.
The author has done it again, creating another thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The mysterious Ethan Jericho is now retired, but when Daniel Prince, an old foe, approaches Jericho, the story becomes a cat-and-mouse competition with international turmoil, great dialogue, dramatic settings, and complex characters. Dana O’Brien, a popular and ambitious journalist who knows too much, will reach out to someone whom she does not like. Antonio LeMay is using the construction of an alarming statue in Utah as a diversion. There is even more drama when adversary Erik Zion appears. With its many twists and turns, the narrative exposes an ancient secret, retribution, manipulation, betrayal, deceit, greed, and murder. If you think you know how this plot will end, you do not know Ethan Jericho.
This book was nothing short of amazing! Never a spoiler in my reviews - this is a page-turner that you won't want to put down and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Even if you haven't read Harvest Moon, you won't have any trouble with this one...it is well written, great character development and gives you the thrills and suspense you look for in a book...this one commands your attention! Even if you don't think this is the genre for you, give it a shot, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my unsolicited review!
The first time I heard a special operator say that heroes don’t really get to retire, it was a Navy SEAL talking to a Delta Force man. Legends always live, and the operators are most alive in the field. Some hunters will always be hunted.
Jericho will not find much respite - and trying to retire sometimes just means limiting the resources and backup available when things get ugly.
This is a fast paced action adventure thriller with all sorts of plot action.
So hard to describe without spoiling the cool details.
Read on and enjoy if you like thrillers and adventure!
Jericho is fast becoming my favorite tough guy! The story starts with a bang and keeps going. Jericho is getting a bit old and things are getting tougher for him just like the rest of us, but he seems to attract the weird people. Olivia has created some wonderful characters and knows how to keep the suspense and action rolling along. The story can be read on its own, but I do recommend catching the earlier books as it gives you more feel for the characters. Can't wait for the next one!
What happens when you combine a church, a satanic cult and a prayer to end the world? You will need Jericho to make things right. An outstanding thriller with lots of action and charismatic characters that you will either root for or against. Excitement abounds!
Very good. Art is stolen and destroyed in the Netherlands and Jericho is caught flatfooted in Utah and Chicago. This is a very thrilling story. I received this as an ARC
Wanting to leave ‘the life’ he’s known for too long, international assassin Ethan Jericho (not his real name!) decides to ‘retire’. There’s no more ‘Advantage Treatment’ from his security firm Cherry Vale. No more jetting all over the world taking care of clients wants and needs. Sounds great but things don’t quite work out that way for our hero. Following a daring raid that sees a famous painting stolen at a Dutch Van Gogh museum, religious fanatics discover that hidden within are lost pages of the Devil's Bible that could very well bring about the apocalypse. No pressure then as Jericho’s tasked with stopping all this as well as taking on an adversary that might be just as bad and just as formidable as he is. JD Oliva gives us a fun ride with this book. There’s plenty of action and shady people with dangerous agendas. I enjoyed Harvest Moon, which also features Ethan Jericho, immensely and have enjoyed this one too. Jericho displays some vulnerability in this book which I found interesting and we get a glimpse into his past too. That said, he still does what he does best: kicking bad guys butts! Above is my original review for The Devil’s Prayer before JD Oliva reworked the book. From what was a great four star read we now have a highly polished can’t-put-down five star novel! I loved reading it again and truly didn’t want to stop reading even when the clock said I should. Recommended.
