As always, I had the best intentions for this story but, unfortunately, it didn't work for me.

I usually say that I like women who go after what they want but in this case it felt ridiculous that the h did so many things just to have a chance to be with the H. I get it, she had a crush on him since she met him but it felt that she was desperate.

What I also didn't like was that the H was known to be a playboy and when he realized that he was in love with the h (which happened way too soon) he tried to look like a serious boyfriend. I'm not saying that this can't happen, of course it can, but, to me, there was no development leading to this.

I understand that this is a short story so it can't be fully developed but, as I have said before, I've read many well written novellas. Anyway, I'm not sure I'll read the rest of the books in the series but this didn't work for me. 2 ⭐

One moment and a few too many drinks blurred lines, but brought long dormant emotions into focus. Within every disaster lies a tiny seed of hope. Gilmore never ceases to forget that hidden inside of every heartbreak is the beginning of a happy ending. With a little bit of faith and a will to take a risk, anything can happen. Humor with heart packs a mighty punch.

Rogue Rascal è il nono libro della serie The Rourkes, la famiglia reale che governa il piccolo regno di Villroy. Se nei primi sei volumi viene raccontata la storia della famiglia regnante (un romanzo per ogni membro), in questo conosceremo l'altro ramo della famiglia (quello che vive negli USA). In questo volume conosceremo Jack Rourke, socio nell’impresa di costruzioni di famiglia e Riley, la sorella del suo migliore amico.
Anche in questo caso le vicende sono raccontate dai punti di vista dei due protagonisti (cosa che apprezzo molto) in prima persona. Jack, è il tipo che non è mai stato interessato ai legami duraturi e si occupa principalmente dei lavori manuali. Ha sempre preferito le avventure di una notte ed è conosciuto soprattutto per il suo spirito goliardico sia in famiglia che tra gli amici. E per questo, il suo migliore amico Sam gli ha sempre intimato di stare alla larga dalla sorella. Riley si è laureata a pieni voti, è una commercialista con una bella carriera (Jack la definisce un “colletto bianco”). Aria professionale e seriosa (anche nell’abbigliamento).
Durante l’addio al celibato di Sam a Las Vegas, Riley e Jack finiscono per ritrovarsi sposati ma per evitare di perdere l’amicizia di Sam, i due fingono di frequentarsi seriamente già da qualche mese. Per una serie di imprevisti i due sono costretti a passare del tempo insieme, Riley è contenta perché vorrebbe sperimentare un po’ di spirito d’avventura con Jack mentre lui, è convinto che Riley sia off-limits, non solo per Sam ma perché non vuole un legame fisso.
Per ora, il meno interessante tra quelli che ho letto della serie. Non mi sono dispiaciuti i due protagonisti e la chimica ma ha poca “azione”.
Lo stile dell'autrice è sempre semplice, scorrevole, ironico e con un livello di sensualità abbastanza alto.
Carino e leggero se volete passare qualche ora spensierata.

Jack and Riley’s love story was a fun adventure, and one of my favorite tropes, in Rogue Rascal by Kylie Gilmore, book nine in The Rourkes series. Jack is the king of pranks, so when he wakes up in Vegas in a strange hotel room, wearing a gold band on his finger and a bridal veil on the nightstand, his first thought is his friends are getting me back. When his bride appears he knows he’s in real trouble because she’s Riley, his best friend’s little sister. Jack had been warned to not even looking at her because of his reputation as a one-night guy. Riley has had a crush on Jack for a while but her brother also warned her away. She knows they need to end this, but she’s having fun with Jack. In fact, the more time Jack spends with Riley, trying to do damage control, he finds himself having second thoughts about ending this marriage. These two are perfect for each other; Jack brings fun to Riley’s life and Riley grounds him. Having a few pranks up her sleeve could just make Riley the ideal match for Jack. I guess, what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas.

Ms. Gilmore wrote a wonderful and moving story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, out loud laughs, pranks, and charming characters giving Jack and Riley a chance to prove opposites attract. I highly recommend Rogue Rascal to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.

Loved this book! Jack is the king of pranks. But when he wakes up in a hotel room in Vegas that’s not his and it looks like he may have gotten married the night before he’s more than a little panicked. When he sees his bride is his best friend’s sister and his friend is now pounding on the door, he’s way beyond panicked.
Riley has had a crush on Jack since she first met him when she was 18. She’s heard the stories from her brother, Sam, about Jack’s pranks, which are hilarious, and his love ‘em and leave ‘em ways with women, which is why he’s always been off limits.
But, here they all are in Vegas for a bachelor and bachelorette party for Sam and Alison. Throw in some tequila and throw out some inhibitions and the next thing you know you’re buying wedding rings and heading to a chapel.
Riley thinks she’ll finally have some time to get to know Jack. After all, he’s her husband. Jack on the other hand, has just one thing on his mind - annulment! They just need to wait until after Sam gets married so he doesn’t hate Jack for sleeping with his sister. Which he didn’t, but who would believe that knowing Jack’s history?

Such a great story and the first American Rourke book I wasn’t wondering when would, or even if, the royal Rourkes would appear.

Yay Jack! Riley...

This one had me torn. I love this series and glad to finally read Jack’s story. This was a Vegas surprise wedding/brother’s best friend romance. I loved Jack like I do all the other Rourke brothers but it took me awhile to like Riley. She had all of the insecurities most of us have when it comes to getting the person we want but she was a bit more of a trickster about getting what she wanted. She did win me over at the end but I spent most of the book feeling bad for Jack. Nice guy just trying to do the right thing. Only to be treated poorly by the girl he was falling for.

Jack went to Vegas to attend his best friend’s bachelor party and woke up with a gold ban on his finger and his best friend’s sister, Riley as his bride. This is a whole lot of no bueno. First, his best friend is going to kill him. Bro Code demands this. But most of all he is not the marrying type. He’s the rascal who loves living his life free and unattached. Jack tried his best to do the right thing. To prevent his own death at his best friend’s hand ruining his bog day as well as leaving Riley in the lurch for her birthday, he agrees to have a fake relationship with Riley. The most unlikely thing happens. He starts falling for Riley and considers keeping this marriage intact. What will he do? You have to read to find out.

Woke-up-married-to-best-friend's-sister trope.

After a heavy night of partying in Vegas Jack wakes up married to his best friend's sister. He's a one-and-done kind of guy. Always up for a good time but never been in a committed relationship.

Riley has always been attracted to her brother's sexy best friend. He's a practical joker who is always smiling and fun. Riley is a corporate accountant. Her life is serious and her love life has always been pretty boring.

When the two wake up wearing matching wedding rings they admit it was a drunken mistake and agree to a quiet annulment. It was clear Jack passed out before the marriage was consummated. Before things can be sorted out they are caught together in the hotel room by Riley's brother. To avoid Sam jumping to the conclusion he has treated Riley like one of his meaningless one night stands, Jack tells him they are in a serious relationship and have been dating secretly for a few weeks.

Thus begins an awkward fake dating scenario with a slow burn as tension builds but sex is off the table (for purposes of eventually getting an annulment).

I thought the story was fun and it was a quick read without any angst. I'm not sure I really liked Riley very much, and Jack seemed to go from zero to in love pretty quickly, but, for the trope, it's to be expected.

This book contains descriptive love scenes.

Rogue Rascal is a humorous take on the girl next door story. Jack is the jokester of the family & loves pulling pranks. He’s a die hard bachelor & liked most women that he meets. This is why it’s alarming when he wakes up in Vegas in someone else’s room with a wedding band on his finger. And then the bathroom door opens to show his bride....

Riley is a serious corporate accountant & has been interested in Jack for years. She knows she’s too serious & by the book for him. She wants someone to shake things up though & teach her how to have fun. Jack should be perfect for that role, right?

These two are definitely a case of opposites attract. Riley is serious & quiet. Jack is witty & fun. Actually, they are perfect for each other. Jack pulls Riley out of herself & lightens her up. Riley gives Jack someone to relax with so he doesn’t have to be “on” all the time. This storyline is loose & fun. All of the characters have become like close friends. I enjoyed having something fun & happy to read & caught myself chuckling in some areas.

Rogue Rascal (The Rourkes) was another fun and entertaining story from the very talented Kylie Gilmore. This book had me giggling at times and pulled at my heartstrings other times, I even felt a bit misty eyed at one point. I absolutely loved these two characters they were so darn lovable in my opinion, they had a fantastic chemistry and you could really feel their connection from the very start of the book. This author made these two come alive they felt so real and I have to say I absolutely loved this book.
Jack is the life of the party kind of guy he is always ready to pull a prank on family and friends, when his best friend asked him to set up the bachelor party, its party time and Vegas here we come. Riley is the serious hard working one and the best friend’s little sister she just once wants to be the fun one the spontaneous one. This is just the start of one great story. I highly recommend this book.

Jack doesn't believe that he is long-term material. He likes to keep everything light and fun. He is more surprised than anyone else to realize that there is more to him than he thought. Riley is tired of serious guys and wants some fun. Jack is obviously the perfect guy to explore pranks and fun with. That is working really well until Jack turns super serious all of the sudden. What are they going to do?
I really enjoyed the reversals in this story. There is lots of switching expectations and roles. We discover, along with Jack and Riley, that they are actually a balanced couple and that they make a great team. I also enjoyed seeing some more glimpses of the younger Rourke boys. And if you are following the Serving Spoon Saga, get ready for some revelations! (That whole thing just cracks me up.)

I Loved this Book!! The chemistry between Jack and Riley is amazing!!
Jack has been pulling pranks on his friends and family his whole life. When he wakes up in a hotel room in Vegas the morning after his best friend's bachelor party with a ring on his finger, a veil near the bed and no memory of what happened the night before, he thinks the guys were pranking him. VERY funny, right? Then the unthinkable happens. SHE walks out of the bathroom. Riley, his best friend's sister, the one he has been warned away from.
Only one way to handle this...get an annulment. All Jack has to do is resist every temptation and keep from sleeping with her. Easy Peasy!!
Read this fun story to see how Jack and Riley untangle themselves from this predicament.

Jack, the greatest pranker, didn´t see that coming! Woke up married to his best friend´s sister is not something he would expect on his wildest dreams, or maybe nightmares. He need to remedy this the sooner the better. But it needs to be done the right way and life, as always, has other plans. One roadblock after another and this marriage seems harder and harder to dissolve. Meanwhile, he gets the chance to spend some time with Riley and discover that they really have the same wavelengh. And the guy who never saw himself tied or building a family of his own starts to dread the end of this odd relationship. Will real love and hapiness be out of his reach now that he saw a glimpse of it? And no one other than Riley could show him the way to achieve the dreams he never dreamed for himself.

Another great Rourke love story!

Vegas, bachelor/bachelorette party, cheesy wedding chapels, best friends little sister, pranks, this story has it all.

The atmosphere in Vegas leads to some pretty crazy shenanigans after a few shots of tequila for Rylie & Jack. Then they get in over their heads while trying not to hurt anyone's feelings. But through it all, they get to know each other better.......and realize that just maybe there is something more there.

Pranks will be pulled, feelings get hurt somewhat, but in the end, they figure it out.

As Jack always says, "you only prank the ones you love!"

Another fantastic read from Kylie Gilmore!! You won't want to put it down!
This is the 9th book in The Rourke series. It focuses on fun loving prankster, Jack. He's Mr. Good Time Casual. Then Vegas happens.
He wakes up in a strange hotel room wearing a wedding ring. The bride? His best friend's little sister, Rylie, whom he's been warned to stay away from. You know the bro code. And guess who's knocking on the door?
This is a quick read with lots of twists, pranks and good old fashioned romance.

I love the Rourke family. Jack is the joker in this branch of the family and no one ever expected him to fall in love, especially his best friend Sam who had told him to stay away from his little sister Riley. However you can't help who you fall in love with and when Jack and Riley attend the bachelor & bachelorette parties in Las Vegas, Riley and Jack find they have a strong attraction. Riley pulls off the best prank and when Jack realises he plots revenge - to have to read it to believe it. These two are great together. I look forward to more of this series.

Jack and Riley are a fun couple that will knock your socks off!! Lots going on in this book that will have you giggling, lusting over Jack and lots of other emotions that this couple were not ready for!! When all is said and done though this couple will realize just how perfect for each other that they really are!! Love the way this author keeps you glue from start to finish!! It was hard to put this book down so I read it fairly quickly!! Love this Royal family and can't wait for the next book in the series!!

Kylie Gilmore continues to intrigue us with the Brooklyn Rourke's and with this hilariously funny addition, you'll love Jack and Riley's story!

When Jack Rourke's best friend Sam is ready to tie the knot Jack plans a Vegas bachelore party in Vegas none of them will forget.  Only the joke seems to be on him when he wakes up to find he is married to Sam's sister. Thanks to his reputation Sam is going to kill him! Yet, it seems the more he and Riley try to get the marriage annuled the less Jack wants the annulment.

Is it weird to start this series with book #9? No? Okay.

I got so easily sucked into this story. Jack is the prankster, he loves to prank other people. But when he wakes up in Vegas with a new bride, he knew he has to get serious. He's a womanizer but he can't touch his wife. Not only because he wants to get an annulment but also because she's his best friend's little sister.

They start to get to know each other even though they are only together for a week. But soon things start to get complicated and feelings start to resurface...

It was a great steamy read and I love how both grew to love one another.

When it comes to Kylie Gilmore’s books I can’t wait to read her next book! Rogue Rascal is an truly humorous love story and a delightful wonderful romantic story. Jack loves to play pranks on his friends and loved ones and Riley is the quiet younger sister of his best friend and they wake up married in Vegas. Oops! You will laugh and enjoy reading Rogue Rascal, I highly recommend reading it! I received this book as an arc for an honest review of it.

Rogue Rascal, Book # 9 in The Rourkes series by Kylie Gilmore is finally here! Jack has broken bro code and hooked up with (and apparently married) his best friends little sister while in Vegas. He has to make this right and the only way he knows how is to get an annulment asap. But his new bride Riley isn't in a hurry to get out of this Vegas marriage.
Rogue Rascal is a lighthearted fun story. The Rourkes is one of my favorite series and this is a great addition.

This was a cute story with some twists you don't see coming! Riley has had a crush on Jack for a few years. She sees an opportunity to get to know Jack better and takes it. Jack doesn't realize that Riley isn't telling him all of the truth. These two get to know each other and find out that they have feelings for each other. There are some twists that happen that the couple needs to work through. A cute story! I'm really enjoying this series!

Hilariousness ensues after a bachelor party and bridal party collide! Jack awakes to a ring on his finger and his friend's little sister wearing the veil. Riley has always wanted to be with Jack, so add in some alcohol to loosen things up, and you end up with a fake relationship. Huh? Things snowball from there, but what they find out in the end is that the Rascal meets his match!

Love, Love, Love Jack and Riley! This book has everything...accidental Vegas Wedding, Untouchable best friend's younger sister, meddling families, and yet isn't trite and you still pull for them because they are meant for each other! It can be read as a standalone, and the other Rourke's are barely mentioned, but once you have a taste you will want to read them all! Enjoy!

Can not get enough of this heartwarming and sexy family..... Really loved this fun, sexy, action packed romantic adventure that starts with a oops wedding in Vegas and hits all the right feels to a swoon worthy end. Exciting and engaging charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and the passion. Loved it!

Again I’m left with a huge smile on my face, and a lightness in my heart that only a Kylie Gilmore HEA can bring. I tore through Rogue Rascal not wanting to put it down. Jack and Riley are perfect together. I could say this was my favourite of the Royal and Rogue series, but I have thought that after each book, and I will think the same when Rogue Angel is released.

Here's the thing, I'm not a fan of pranks. I think they are mean. A joke is when two people are laughing not when one is laughing at the others expense.
So I was never going to like Jack very much, and she's just as bad, she plays a couple of pretty mean pranks.
It was quite a sweet story otherwise, nothing amazing but readable.

Royal Rascal is the the tale of the Rourke prankster finding love in the most unexpected way, with the most unexpected woman.
