Learning to read in elementary school with Dick and Jane stories began my many years of enjoying books. Revisiting this compilation of stories brought back happy memories.

A nostalgic look at books from childhood. The publisher reprinted several of the Dick and Jane books with their family, friends, and pets in a large book form. Dick and Jane were readers from the 1950's and 1960's that kids then used to learn to read. Dick, Jane, and Sally helped their parents, but had fun too.

I loved these books as a child, especially when Penny and Pam were introduced. They were the first (with big brother, Mike) characters drawn in books that looked like my demographic and didn't carry bags (reference to Little Golden Books here). I know that the Dick and Jane books were panned in favor of Dr. Suess' work, but, even as a child, I was never a fan of those.
