Neely never knew a world without limits. There was always a boundary, always a line she couldn't cross. She heard her parents speak of life before the walls often. It sounded like a great way to live. It sounded a lot like freedom, but behind the perimeter of Zone 7, even the thought of escaping was a crime. One president had come along and changed the way people interacted forever. People lived behind barricades. The walls separated each race. The walls kept people safe, but to an adventurous 17 year old Neely, they made her feel trapped. After meeting a group of teenagers from other zones on the interscope, a new age internet, Neely decides its time to break the rules and venture outside of her zone. Fearless and determined, Neely sneaks out and meets friends who are so different from her that its mind-blowing. When their night of rebellion turns into a fight for justice they must prove their lives matter and that when people come together miraculous things can happen. New York Times best selling author Ashley Antoinette, co-writes this book with her son, Quaye Coleman. Together they are debuting a new kind of urban storytelling full of imagination. It's a story that parents and children can read together that will open the discussion about equality, respecting one another's differences, and above all, it will take you on a powerful adventure. It's a story that breaks through walls of its own and coins a new lane for this mother/son duo.
Now I love Ashley Antoinette, and I love that she cowrote this book with her son, and it was great but not my favorite by any means. It had a great plot and was so unlike anything she’s ever written before but I just love her street novels way more. Also, loved how the mentioned “President Trum”.. you get it, alternate for Donald Trump, which was so creative. It had a little bit of fantasy, culture and romance all tied in one. I’m happy I read it but I just love all of her books more then this one could ever do for me!
This book was AMAZING! Mr. Quaye Coleman is amazingly talented! He is a young author that is on his way to the top, I can see him one day being better than both of his parents, who are both known for their gritty, plot-twisting passionate urban tales. Although this book maybe part of a slightly different genre, it is still equally amazing! Can’t wait to read the next part! Keep going young Quaye!
I love how this book made you think about the past, our ancestors, sacrifice and power! It signified so many emotions. So many thoughts. It was a lovely story. Especially the men who could see power behind 1 individual. I love it and I absolutely will recommend this book. Simply power. Her son has a great imagination. This collab is everything.
This book is everything I didn't know I needed. So we'll written and the concept hits so very close to home. Bravo Antoinette and Quaye!!! You scored a home run with this book and I cannot wait to the next part.
This was really good. Very different from their norm. It’s also kid friendly. I’m hoping that this wasn’t a standalone but a series. I definitely want to read more about this. I’m dying to see who Neely chooses. Alo has definitely got my attention. Would love to read more about him.
