We are back with Samantha Hale, who has returned to live with her grandmother after her perfect relationship has broken apart, and now instead of licking her wounds and trying to figure out what to do with her life is now tasked with saving all witch kind from evil .

I really enjoyed going back to see Samantha and how life is treating her as a witch, nothing in life is ever plain sailing, and magic no matter how cool it seems is no different, just with more responsibility!
This is a great story with some great writing, and character building.

Highly recommend, as with all books in this series it does not matter what order your read these in, they are just as enjoyable regardless!

When Samantha Hale discovers the mysterious old book containing her coven's secrets, her grandmother Aurora tells Sam it might be the key to solving her problems. Now Sam must unravel the secret history of her family in order to understand the past--and prevent the worst witch in history from destroying the future.

Wonderful continuation to this cozy series.
Well written plot and story line that keeps you engaged throughout.
The characters are well fleshed out and enjoy following them on their adventure.
Twists and turns keep you guessing til the very end and will keep you reading til the very end as well.
Recommend reading.

And these are the generations of the Black family of witches. The Gift apparently fell only to the females in the family. From Samantha Black, the original witch, to Grandma Aurora, down to her mother Isadora and Samantha Hale herself.

And there is much discussion of dark forces, and how to face them.

And life, love, and the future are also something Samantha faces.

Intense and self reflective action and adventure.

What would you do if given the chance to have anything you ever wanted just by thinking about it? A war is coming and Samantha Hale is a critical part of it all.
This book had me on the edge of my seat through the whole thing! Samantha is a strong woman and witch, even though she’s just learning about her powers. This series is great!

I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the characters & found the idea of a journal written by generations of family memories to be fascinating. What made it unique (not a spoiler) was some family members only wrote in it for a very short time, then it was put away. No one stopped writing in it because of death, which is the opposite of most journals. This is a more serious (but humorous) book about witches. However, it is not an evil book & should not offend religious readers.

So they say

Most powerful there ever has been, except you have no idea how to do anything. Even the most basic of spells is a mystery when you never knew you were a witch.
Love the idea that evil depends on your viewpoint, which is why you need to consider both sides of an issue.

Good read.

I liked each book in this series, however I don't feel it was truly connected. They seemed to be stand alone and I also would have preferred if the males in the family could have powers. I did enjoy reading so read all 8 books.

Engrossing

An engrossing tale, filled with tension, a bit of intrigue, and loads of human reaction. The struggle between light and dark, good and evil, the stuff of everyday human life is the base storyline; putting the reader inside the protagonist's seat. Well worth your time!
