Wraith King #2

Wraith King 2

Rate this book
Kill or be killed.

That’s the rule when traveling through Hell.

It may sound exciting to ride through Hell to save one of your lovers, but in reality it’s full of blood and magic, orcs and Hellhounds, secrets and revelations.

The Wraith King’s minions will do anything to capture or kill me. But I’ve got a plan to strike back.

To do it, I just need to keep my own growing urge to kill under control.

Warning: Wraith King 2 is a medieval fantasy book intended for mature readers 18+. It contains explicit polyamorous relationships like a harem, as well as medieval battles, nudity, and sensuous warrior females who find Jon to be different from the men of their world. And while Jon finds himself having more fun in Hell than he would have imagined, the dangers are real, with blood, violence, and epic battle scenes galore.

Read at your own risk.

Great book

This book is about the battles of the elves against the Wraith King’s slavers at an important city crossroads. Jon learns more about himself and what his magic can do for him.

Second Book is excellent

I have just finished book two and what a ride. The characters are well done and written so you want them to succeed in their efforts. Jon is beginning to master his magic and trying to understand his relationship to the Wraith King. I'm anxious to read book 3!

As required by U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations and Audible.com requirements, I am disclosing that I was given a free review copy of this audiobook at my request. I have listened to the audiobook, and I have voluntarily left an honest review. Receiving a review copy did not influence my rating nor my review.

“Wraith King 2” picks up immediately after book 1’s ending. A surprise visit from a hellhound interrupts Jon’s campsite plans with Ilana (the succubus) and Nya (the elf). The hellhound turns out to be the stable maid Sarina, whom Jon encountered when he first arrived in Hell!

The elves tend not to trust Sarina, even more than they don’t trust the succubus! As Jon’s powers continue growing…yup…they begin not trusting him so much, too! To be fair, Jon is beginning to not trust himself either, with his new powers as well as around his friends. Along with his powers, uncontrolled blood lust and lust lust (is that a phrase?) continue to grow within him.

After the party catches up with and deals with the slavers, they decide to embark on two different paths. Nya and the elves will return to Blackhold, but Jon, Ilana and Sarina decide to seek out the rest of the elfstone to learn more of the prophecy and what it means for Jon. Very “Lord of the Rings” like, splitting up the fellowship for two simultaneous goals! Interesting coincidence that LOTR’s third episode in the trilogy is named “Return of the King”!

The narrators are the same as the first book, which is welcome for continuity, but I still wish TJ McKenzie wouldn’t effect such an odd accent for Jon. Melanie Hastings is terrific once again! There are four books in the series, and I look forward to continuing the story of Jon and his growing harem of fellow adventurers!

P.S. - I just noticed a new cover for Wraith King 1, with Ilana now cute-as-a-button using presumably A.I. artwork (as is the current trend with haremlit). I’m kinda looking forward to the same treatment for Wraith King 2, featuring Nya as less of an angry warrior!

Great

This story is a great fun read. The quick moving plot speeds along at a nice pace. And the characters honestly never feel forced or fake. Can't wait to see where the MC progression takes him next.

Excellent

Great follow up to the first book. I enjoy when a book picks up right where it left off. Will be interesting to see how the MC develops and how powerful he becomes. Can't wait to read book 3.

Another winner

This is a rare second book that matches it's predecessor. It's not a book for the prudish but a lot of fun.

A Real Page Turner!

Even better than the 1st book and I gave it a five also. And I guess I'm pulling for Jon to recruit more cuddling females in the near future. 😉

Couldn’t put it down

Much like the first one, this was an enjoyable read. I just couldn’t put it down. That’s how great it was. The inner struggle Jon faced throughout the story felt real. He became more powerful, but also horny which nearly got him killed by a snake. I hope he can re-enter that town after surviving that incident.

I really like the characters. Jon’s not perfect, he makes some rather questionable decisions in the course of the story and is conflicted about his role in hell, but he’s really likable and you want to see him succeed. He’s also not a sick bastard in that he respects his women. Speaking of which, I really like his relationship with Nya and Ilana. Ilana’s by far my favorite character in this series. So sexy yet still compassionate and has a heart. Anytime she’s in the scene, I wonder what she’ll do next. I’m always a fan of succubi. Nya’s interesting too. She’s tough and stoic but slowly shows cracks within her armor. It begins when Jon starts developing his powers. This leads to another point in the story: I won’t spoil it but I have to say, upon reading it, it really took me by surprise.

The writing was pretty good. Very tight and with solid grammar. There was one sentence I mentioned in my notes that it shouldn’t begin with “but”, but that’s just a nitpick. The fight scenes were cool. Jon learns the art of combat quickly via baptism of fire. He’s pretty swift in his swordsmanship despite receiving little training. The sex scenes were also great too. They were slow and sensual.

One thing I find strange is how the chapters are usually a minute long. That’s not a bad thing, rather convenient, though I do find it a little strange.

I hope Jon doesn’t end up like the title character himself. Wraith King 2 is a great sequel and a worthy follow up of an already great book. If you like action, fantasy, sex, elves, and succubi, this’s definitely for you.

Even though the first book ended on a cliffhanger, even though I had already purchased books 2 and 3 in this series, I could not bear the thought of wasting any more time with this series or this author. Pubescent boys' wet dreams were bad enough when I was a teenager. I won't voluntarily spend money and time on it as an adult.
