A romance with a twist of the other side of the human coin.
The journey of Julia continues, from being taken by several groups of non humans and held captive, to her being returned to her people. A sizzling touch of sex to go in the mix puts it on the adult chart. The action is fast, the sex sizzling, but the personal relationships always seem to suffer in the dialogue or true connection. For me, magic and sex have never been enough alone for a relationship, and although the characters will sacrifice themselves for anyone they love, they appear to be a little frustrated as well.
There is just way to much going on in this book. So many characters. A lot of back and fourth. I started scrolling and then just jump to the end. A lot of the main characters have died by the end. Not an easy or enjoyable read
I give every book or set the benefit of the doubt because some storylines start out slow or messy. However, I could only make it to roughly 12% I to this set and couldn't do anymore.
She will be bound by fang, claw and blood, the kiss of the moon on high against where she lays to sleep. The queen shall bear the mark of the peacekeeping Singer....Your blood calls to us. It sings to us. We follow it like a melody on the wind. All roads lead to the Blood Singer. This girl. The Blood Singer from the Book of Blood. The Rare One. In the absence of hope, darkness bloomed like a black orchid.
Since this is the first time I have read this series, I am reviewing it as a whole, rather than each book. WOW! What a truly FANTASTIC series!!! This series is my soap opera, in all the best, juciest ways! So addicted! Need to know what’s happening and NOW! :) I was thoroughly addicted, caught in its grip, unable to put it down! I love, Love, LOVE how Tamara Rose Blodgett weaves such an intricate story complete with love, heartbreak, heartache, passion, friendship, enemies, lovers, allies and oh so much more all while seamlessly integrating so many characters to love & hate (sometimes both!) who belong to any one (or more!) of numerous species but done in a way to keep the reader engaged and following along, incorporating them without even realizing just how many people you now know & follow! It’s in depth in all the right places & ways and has such deep, dark passionate tones, as well as the lighter, happier sides too, that are all brought together so perfectly to make one helluva unique and creative series! I am blown away by the multitude of species and their abilities both as a whole, as well as what each individual is capable of! Each and every aspect & piece of the story brings layer upon layer of enrichment from complex characters, scenery, flow of the storytelling to the compelling storylines! Love the vernacular, quips, quotes & wording that fits for each character and/or species, meaning that the teens or "young'ins" speak & act as they should, while the "old" ones speak as they should, which adds an even deeper layer of "realism" to the story & characters. It was so hard to figure out the "good guys" from the "bad guys", (which is a great thing!) but what chafed me the most is falling for one that I was so sure was worthy of my adoration, then finding out he is total scum!! LOL But that is why I love, Love, LOVE Tamara's books! Her ability to write & create such deeply enriched books that capture my attention, drawing me in so deep that it feels like I am living the story, being surprised by every twist & turn that I never saw coming, really meeting & becoming friends (or enemies) with the multifaceted characters, becoming said characters, seeing every single bit of it in my mind’s eye, time after time, book after book, series after series, no matter the genre, is proof of just how phenomenally talented and exceptionally gifted Tamara Rose Blodgett truly is and why she is one of my absolutely favorite authors to read & binge read!!
Normally you can tell a lot about an author by the style of their writing. With this series, however, I couldn't decide if I was reading the writing of a hormonal teen with no grip on "old language", a 20 y/o WWII vet, a grouchy 60 y/o woman, or a conglomeration of college kids trying to agree on what to write for a group lit. project where no one could agree on anything so they all just threw their ideas in a blender (AI story generator maybe?) and went with it.
The attempts at plot twists were painful, and you could tell that it was an attempt at avoiding cliches, but the outcome was so much more painful and elicited so many more groans than if the cliche had just been used.
The number of "oh no, this character died! Wait! They're back!" moments could have been used for a drinking game and everyone would end up in the hospital from alcohol poisoning.
The changes in character perspective were abrupt and jarring, creating a lot of confusion and lack of transition.
The characters were poorly developed, had very little personality, their roles were shaky at best, and served mainly as a distraction to me as I tried to remember who was who.
Not a single character was endeared to me, none sparked my interest, none felt like anything more than an elusive concept.
There was a significant amount of repetition on some subjects that truly felt unimportant, and yet, each time it was repeated, little things seemed to change.
The overall continuity seemed questionable at best.
The changes that these characters experience are too frequent and unrealistic unless they're supposed to be borderline manic Bipolar with a healthy dollop of identity disorder.
A significant amount of the plot was spent on problem after problem, with minimal world building or character development. A good action based story still has to have a backbone to hold it together. The plot was as clear as mud.
The main love interest is unhealthy in so many ways, another love interest was forced (I hate you! *they touch* I can't live without you, you're everything to me!) and quickly eliminated with possibly the most lackluster way I've read so far, and the one that could have been healthy was obliterated in such a way that left me wondering why any of the other potentials were even brought in at all.
Some of the plot twists honestly just seemed like the author was in the middle of writing what they had originally planned, but then thought "you know what would be great here? A PLOT TWIST! Now, how can I backtrack to make it fit?"
Overall, I am left feeling underwhelmed and believing that this series was started off with no end in mind to keep it on track.
I could continue going on with a near endless list, but I won't.
The Blood (Series 1-8) by Tamara Rose Blodgett ~~ I wasn’t prepared for how hard this series would hit me. From page one, the intensity and darkness of this world grabbed me and refused to let go. I thought I was stepping into a typical paranormal shifter storyline — but this is on a whole different level. The loyalty, brutality, and raw emotion in this series pulled me in so deep that real life had to wait.
The characters are unforgettable — complex, broken, and fighting battles that cut right down to the bone. The dynamic between the wolf shifters, hybrids, and blood-linked factions is absolutely gripping. Every alliance, every betrayal, every sacrifice stacks until you feel like you’re living right there beside them. There were moments that stopped me in my tracks, especially when characters you think you understand reveal their real motives — and suddenly everything flips. I actually yelled “Oh my God!” more than once.
And the ending of the final book? It wrecked me in the most powerful way. It’s emotional, fierce, and ties the whole journey together without sanitizing the pain and grit that makes this story unforgettable.
I switched back and forth between reading and listening depending on where I was, and both formats were absolute perfection. The Audible narration is outstanding — emotional, intense, and cinematic. It felt like watching a movie in the dark with my headphones on. Then I’d jump back into Kindle to reread scenes and highlight lines that hit too hard to move past. The combination made the world feel so real it almost followed me into the real one.
This series is gripping, dark, and beautifully raw. If you want a story packed with jaw-dropping twists, fierce loyalty, and characters who stay with you long after you’re done — this is it.
I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself — you won’t regret it.
Second series by this writer and again nothing but a headache. Once again I'll say less is more She starts a harem kills some no more harem. Seems to be her fav. Thing to do. She gets to have constant action that requires many many plots then just keeps adding people . One disaster after another i really hate that she " pair binds" someone then conveniently breaks it. Your mind is just running trying to keep up with who is who and who has been added and she had mad way of taking someones full name and constantly using first name sometimes then just last name. I was rereading just to make sure who was thinking of talking. So to say the least ended as I thought. I hated it. Would have been good but as her usual it seems she tries to pack way to much into the story. Just tooooo muuuucchhhh. Last books I'll read by her as I am not lying ,the two series i have read from her gave me a headache.I'm a migraine suffer so I avoid headaches at every possibility that I can 😕
if you have never read this series of books then you are missing out on a wonderful roller coaster of a ride, I started reading the first book on tuesday. and it is now friday morning, don’t get me wrong... these books aren’t short stories but full sized novels. what a ride, the author has totally hit the big time and pulled the golden ring, you really have to read if you like books with werewolves and vampires along with fey royalty, great looking but real āāholes... I never got bored BUT, after 3 or 4 books you CAN kind of get lost with the characters names, well, anyway I think almost everyone will fall in love with the series and anyway. some people are never satisfied no matter what thanks
This series held me captivated. The story flowed well from book to book. The whole series was well-written with extraordinary terrific paranormal characters. I highly recommend. If you love paranormal, this series is for you. It has about every supernatural that comes to mind. This is the first books I've read by Tamara Rose Blodgett, and I will be reading others!
OMG. What an unbelievable boxed set this was. I am now on book 9 and it is just as good as the rest. Young Love. Death. The Rare One. Were. Vampires. The Feral. Blood Singers. Lots of humour amongst the blood and gore. And hot hot s----y stuff. Where on earth does this author get her imagination? Brilliant series.
I can’t, I tried but it’s to much going on. Why so many characters??? You can’t fully develop a character when you have 20 or so main characters. Kidnapped, KIDnapped, KIDNAPPED WTH?? She got kidnapped so many (in the author’s overused word) effin times!!! My goodness I’m so over this. I did not finish and if you haven’t started don’t.
Holy shiznet!!! What a gr8 group of books. This series is very good and interesting. I couldn't put it down. And I'm looking forward to reading the next book. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
1-3 In true Tamara Rose Blodgett form, this series draws the reader into a world of imagination and danger. I found myself cheering for the underdog (no pun intended) and hoping certain situations would work out the way I wanted them to. Of course, she leaves the reader to wonder after the end the these two. In other words, yes, I already bought the other three in the series! Why extend the agony? I need to know what happens next! She is a master of suspense and twisting a story to keep the reader involved and questioning. Once again, I am caught up in one of her series', and there is no escape! I loved it and am looking forward to getting into the next one.
4-6 I have been following this series for years and each one gets better than the next. It takes us to a new level and introduces us to characters who are going to have an impact on all of the ones preceding. Each time a new character or setting is introduced, it creates chaos in a world that is already chaotic. These books are amazing and had me mesmerized from the moment I opened the first on. I've owned each of these books individually over the last couple of years and always wait in anticipation for the next to release. I'm always glad that the characters are intensely intertwined, the pairings between love interests are never simple, sometimes colliding in ways that surprise. The action never ceases, and just when I think I've got everything figured out, something unexpected turns the cart over, and I'm overwhelmed and excited for the next book. Promises are made and broken, love fulfilled and betrayed. We see our heroine finding her way from situations that beg for her to figure out her identity to her journey from the bunker where the last book in the series ended. She has decisions to make that will change not only her life but the lives of those around her. She is, after all, the Singer Queen first. None of her decisions are easy, and they are made more difficult by the loss and heartache she's had to withstand. Then there are the mated wolves who have just discovered their connection to each other, and around every corner there's another obstacle making them question whether they should be making this journey together. As much as I want to see these stories resolved, I also want them to go on for years so I can continue to join these characters in their world. I am immensely excited to see where she takes the story next. REDEMPTIVE: I wanted so much for things to work out for Adi and Slash, but what happened after the clash in the hospital parking garage, I wasn't sure if they were even going to come out of it alive. Then the Jenni factor came into play, as Adi couldn't let her die and bit her, changing her entire world. But one of the best parts is the continuing saga of Lazarus and Tessa, the demon from hell and the lycan he's falling for.
The excitement did not let up through the entire story, and the tentacles of story line spread out in directions I had no idea what to expect at any given time. But Ms. Blodgett has a way of keeping us enthralled and wanting more. Here characters are brilliant and animated. Her stories are rich and imaginative. This one is all of that an more. There are more characters connected to this book whom we haven't hear from in a while, and with each story ending at a cliffhanger, I'm looking forward to the next segment in this colorful tale.
CROWN: I wanted to know what happened next but didn't want it to end. And it doesn't. I'm so excited to see what comes next and how everyone is going to survive. Dark Master is the devious one who had me on pins and needles with each step he came closer to his goal. Jenni, Devin and Ella finally find a safe place to go... or is it? Adi and Slash get to their final destination, but the trouble they bring with them puts everyone in danger. And Lazarus still needs to survive the blood sacrifice before he and Tessa can be together. There are so many factors that bring everyone together.
And the cliff hanger is to die for! My head was spinning with the heart stopping speed situations the author created and the little things that connected each of them. From the moment I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. I have a feeling there are going to be some surprising heroes and heroines when the series finally comes to a close, and my hands are itching to get a hold of the next volume.
