Jin possesses a unique paranormal ability. Just by touching someone, she can insert a mental hook into their psyche and tie a string of her consciousness to it, creating a tether. That doesn’t make her a spy, though, not unless her talent is discovered by those seeking to exploit it.
This series is so well rounded I don't even know where to start.
First, there is no finale at the end of each book. I wouldn't call them a cliffhanger, but the story isn't finished. It's called a series for a reason. Leaving a poor review because you don't like the way it ended is lame...it hasn't ended!
Second, yes you will find that as one storyline comes to completion you are introduced to the next one. Again, it's a series.
Third, I love the fact that we still have characters from the first book involved in book 35. All of the characters are growing and evolving. No one is becoming stagnant. The storyline is constantly changing and taking you on different adventures. It's not predictable. Some characters have stronger personalities than others. You don't have to like all of them. This is one of those series, that you don't necessarily have to go back and re read prior books just to be able to remember what was going on when the newest book is released. The storyline and characters stay with you. These books are released rather quickly (some authors are close to a year or more between books) usually no more than 6-8 weeks and they don't read like they were rushed.
I truly enjoy this series and consider it one of my favorites. Looking forward to book #100 in this series...lol! Keep 'em coming!
Yeah, we get to see how Jin came to fall into the trap of leaving everything behind to work for the government. We meet new characters that also have paranormal abilities. The mission kept me in suspense and anticipation of how it will all turn out. There were many bumps in the plan, but of course our great Guardians figure out ways to make it all work out in the end. We get 3 new people with Paranormal abilities, but can we trust them? Edna does her probing and Andrew does his lie detecting. Everything is still up in the air, so we have to wait and see if these 3 can prove themselves to the Clan. Jin and Arwel have immediate chemistry. I never thought much about Arwel, or if he was attractive or not in the past 34 books, but boy has that changed. Arwel sounds hot and has definitely become a man of interest, intrigue and passion. Jin is such a powerful, independent, take charge kind of woman. She goes for what she wants, full speed ahead. Her ability will be a great asset to the Clan. But is she smart enough, careful enough, or even experienced enough to pull off a spy mission as dangerous as approaching Kalugal. Looking forward to the next book in this love story. I love that this series continues on and we still have our old characters making appearances throughout the entire series. There are still a few characters that we haven't heard from in a very long time that I do hope that gets rectified. Overall, a pretty great series that feels like a never ending soap opera that you just can't stop watching and crave more of.
Well, this time it may have been for the betterment of the clan. Last time the plan went awry, a doomer escaped. We have yet to see what snowball that will unleash in the chain of events.
We have some new Dormants in the keep. I won’t say how many or who they are. No spoilers. Lol. But I will say that phase 2 is set to begin pertaining to Kalugal.
Jin is an interesting character. I wonder what her transition will be like. I like her straight forward personality and I hope the author doesn’t muck it up for the sake of drama. She typically speaks her mind… most times without thinking, but it’s still refreshing.
I can’t wait to see who becomes true love mates and if they are all from the clan… cause I have a feeling about one being Kalugal’s and that would pose a bit of a problem considering we don’t know where he stands. Hopefully next book we will get a few more POV chapters for him. I think there was at least one in this one, for those that are curious. 😉
May the Fates be with them all. See my notes and highlights on Goodreads. Happy reading!
It seems these last few books have had a lot of filler and very little "meat." To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.
We get a bit of a teaser with Kalugal in the first chapter, but there's nothing more of him for the rest of the book...and the little we get is a glimpse from 3 years ago and it has no bearing on the rest of this story.
Jin's escape was pretty exciting and the issue of dealing with additional escapees provided some drama and tension, but not enough to justify the length of the book. Most of it was fluff...I mean, who cares if Turner had his coffee in a paper cup instead of a thermos?
The earlier books seemed to have a lot more excitement. The cliffhanger in this book isn't even a real cliffhanger. It just stops cold.
Reading this series is kind of like watching Star Wars movies. After getting this far into the series, you kinda have to keep following it, no matter how bad the new stuff turns out to be.
Dark Spy Conscripted KU 306 pgs **** 8/1/21 Arwel & Jin
4 stars. This book was much better than previous ones. There was excitement with trying to get Jin out of the government program, new characters, new abilities, just more interesting. Jin and Arwel have chemistry but it’s just starting. Arwel was mesmerized the first time he saw her, it took a bit more for Jin but there was a reason. I loved having Kian back for most of the book but I missed the other characters that I have grown attached too. The clan is slowly growing but not nearly enough to bring up the numbers that they need for survival. Annani wasn’t in this book at all which disappointed me, I love all of her scenes. I think Jin and Arwel will make a good couple, mostly because Jin is out spoken, not afraid of much and says what she means and doesn’t think anything about it.
First let me say I do like the story and the characters. But I mean damn!!! How long is this series going to be, 100! The 3 book to one story is nothing but Dragging this story out to the point where I skip soooo many chapters because it’s all a filler, and you won’t even notice because it really has nothing to do with the core story. This is making me want to give up. One book per person is enough, but having each freaking person have three books is draining. Having whole chapters about eating vending machine sandwiches, no one cares and it’s interfering with the point of the story. Not sure if I will continue because all I do is skip chapters, to get to the real point of the story.
I devoured ‘Dark Spy Conscripted’! Jin is literally a hoot! She had me laughing and snorting up a stream. The rescue mission as always did not go as planned. Not only did they have the one usual snag but they had three big ones and now what are they supposed to do with these three? Arwel and Jin’s attraction was so much fun to read. I laughed so hard when she did her proclamation of - “Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Arwel and Jin had mind blowing sex and we are moving in together se we can have more.” She’s going to be a terrific addition to the clan. But will the others??
I absolutely love these books and can’t put them down. I love the introduction of new characters and the insight we learned about the mysterious government headquarters collecting paranormal talents. I know there is more to it and can’t wait to find out. I.t. Lucas manages to weave an ever changing web always creating 10 new questions for every tidbit of information revealed. Jin has a feisty confident personality and I can’t wait to see how her and her friends will mesh with Annani’s clan of immortals and how many will find True Love Mates.
Dark Spy Conscripted by I.T. Lucas is her newest book in her The Children of the Gods series. With this book we get more insight into the character of Kalugal. Kian and Kalugal start to feel each other out. Jin uses her talent to help Arwel gain his release. Jackie's character becomes more developed. We also find out who the trader is amongst the recused paranormal talents. We also catch up with some of the stories favorite characters. It's amazing that after almost 40 books in the series the characters are still becoming more and the storyline continues to develop. The is truly one series that never lets you down.
Interesting! Dark Spy Conscripted is Jin Levin's story: how she goes from being a pseudo post-grad college student worried about finding a job after graduation, to someone essentially kidnapped by a government agency and secreted away from her family. Enter her sister Mey, and Kian with his Guardians to rescue Jin. All goes according to plan, well almost. Jin and her friends find new homes, with Carol and Lokan helping to save the day. Once again, Ms. Lucas exceeds expectations, and leaves me anxiously waiting for the next book...!
I loved this book ! It's fast paced and well written by I.T. LUCAS ! The entire series is great and very addictive . Each new trilogy just adds more to the next storyline . I'm so glad Arwel finally has found Jin . Jin is Meys little sister who was compelled to work for the government . She was rescued with a few other paranormal people in the program . Since they may be Dormants it was a necessary risk that hopefully won't backfire against the clan . I can't wait for the next book .Due to sexual content it is definitely for adults . ENJOY !
This book is all about searching and rescuing Jin. She has a special ability that will hopefully prove useful to the clan. They encounter a hiccup in the road and now the clan has acquired 3 more potential dormants, but can they be trusted? This did end on a happy note and to be continued. I.T. Lucas doesn't fail to deliver on the adventure and romance in this unique series of immortals. Can T wait for the next book. I received this book for an honest review.
I loved the time frame start of this book as we learn what happened when Jin disappeared. Learning about all the different paranormal talents was interesting but some did feel really similar to others and a bit underwhelming.
I like this couple even if their getting together was again too soon but I have high hopes for a good outcome. I liked all the side stories too and can't wait to see what happens.
I love this series as it is a perfect blend of romance and a bit of suspense. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the long series that keeps you in the state of anticipation of the next book. It’s a series that I don’t ever want to end. It is unique as it is not your every day paranormal book.
I love this series of books! I try to pace myself so I don't blast through them before the next one is released. Nope.....no go. Such a great story that at work or while I'm doing mundane house chores, I think of these characters and where the story line will be taking them. Wonderful writing with good balance of smut, plot and character development.
The ending was awesome. Jin making Arwel recite their newfound proclamation was epic. It made me LOL I'm glad I waited to read this book because #36 is already out and I don't have to wait too long (just twenty days). Way to keep this great series going I.T. It's a masterpiece and I'm a fan forever.
This book is a good book but it is not a great book. It has some exciting time, but not many. Jen is an important part of this story. She can touch you and make a tether . Juan sees this as a talent he can use while he is trying to infiltrate Krugals home. She is reluctant but finally agreed but if course that is when the book ends.
The beginning of this book goes backwards in time a little, to catch us up on what Jin endured during her time with the government. Once she's rescued, and of course thing's don't go as planned the remaining of the book flies by. I hope her bond snaps into place soon, and I'm excited to learn more about the new characters.
I chose this rating because Arwel and the other immortals journey in finding Jin was intriguing and exciting. It led to other dormants that had me laughing out loud. Can’t wait to read about their story. I recommend this book to those who like a good paranormal story.
I am continued to be amazed at how well done I.T. Lucas's books are. I am kept guessing with just the right amount of romance, intrigue and mystery at what is next. I recommend all the books in this series as I just cannot put them down once I start reading. This is not the normal genre that I read but I am hooked.
I am not feeling the connection between these two. Giving the romance a 2. I am greatly enjoying the expanding parts of the story, Kalugal and whatever is happening on the East Coast, giving it the 4!!
Dark Spy Conscripted, as with all (The Children of the Gods series) is fantastic. The way I.T. Lucas keeps coming up with new ways and plots for the clan to find there fated mates is amazing. Can't wait for the next book.
Arwel has found his one and only, Jin, Mey’s sister. They are meant for each other. I know that she will transition or at lest hope she does before her mission. Until the next one...
As always, I love getting to know characters better who have been on the fringes of the story since the beginning. Throwing brand new characters into the mix and seeing where & with whom they attach is also exciting!!
It's been a while since I was hooked to a great series. This is one. Easy read and easy to follow characters. Only thing I wish was it was a little more racy.
I enjoyed this book as I have the others in the series. I am happy that Arwel gets his chance for his true love mate. Jin is a bit much... she had no filter and speaks her mind with everything. As the story unfolds, things get better & better!
I fly through these books because they are so good and you get wrapped up with each of the characters. Each book leads to the next set of characters so start at the beginning. I have no doubt you will be hooked as well.
I was not disappointed. I enjoyed every minute of this book Jin is the perfect mate for Arwel. I can’t wait for the next book but I keep wondering who the mole is and I can’t wait to find out.
Fantastic series. This series is even better than Black Dagger series. Once you start you won't stop until you have completed all the books available. I just finished book 38 and can't wait for the next one coming in April.
